1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.यो येशू ख्रीष्टको परिवारिक इतिहास हो। उहाँ दाऊद परिवारबाट आउनु भयो। दाऊद अब्राहामको परिवारका हुन्।

2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judah and his brethren;अब्राहाम इसहाकका पिता थिए। इसहाक याकूबका पिता थिए। याकूब यहूदा र उनका दाज्यु-भाइहरूका पिता थिए।

3 and Judah begat Perez and Zerah of Tamar; and Perez begat Hezron; and Hezron begat Ram;यहूदा पेरेज र जाराका पिता थिए (तिनीहरूकी आमा तामार थिइन्।) पेरेज हेस्रोनका पिता थिए। हेस्रोन आरामका पिता थिए।

4 and Ram begat Amminadab; and Amminadab begat Nahshon; and Nahshon begat Salmon;आराम अमिनादाबका पिता थिए। अमिनादाब नास्सोनका पिता थिए। नास्सोन सल्मोनका पिता थिए।

5 and Salmon begat Boaz of Rahab; and Boaz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;सल्मोन बोअजका पिता थिए। (बोअजकी आमा राहाब थिइन्।) बोअज ओबेदका पिता थिए। (ओबेदकी आमा रूथ थिईन्)। ओबेद यस्सीका पिता थिए।

6 and Jesse begat David the king. And David begat Solomon of her `that had been the wife' of Uriah;यस्सी राजा दाऊदका पिता थिए। दाऊद सुलेमानका पिता थिए। (सुलेमानकी आमा उरियाकी पत्नी थिइन्।)

7 and Solomon begat Rehoboam; and Rehoboam begat Abijah; and Abijah begat Asa;सुलेमान रोओबामका पिता थिए। रोओबान अबियाका पिता थिए। अबिया आसाफका पिता थिए।

8 and Asa begat Jehoshaphat; and Jehoshaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Uzziah;आसाफ योसाफातका पिता थिए। योसाफात योरामका पिता थिए। योराम ओजियका पिता थिए।

9 and Uzziah begat Jotham; and Jotham begat Ahaz; and Ahaz begat Hezekiah;ओजिया योआथामका पिता थिए। योआथाम आहाजका पिता थिए। आहाज एजेकियाका पिता थिए।

10 and Hezekiah begat Manasseh; and Manasseh begat Amon; and Amon begat Josiah;एजेकिया मनस्सेका पिता थिए। मनस्से आमोसका पिता थिए। आमोस योसियका पिता थिए।

11 and Josiah begat Jechoniah and his brethren, at the time of the carrying away to Babylon.योसिया येकोनिया र उसका भाइहरूका पिता थिए। (यो त्यसै समयको कुरा हो जुनबेला यहूदीहरूलाई दासका रूपमा बेबिलोनमा लगिएका थिए।)

12 And after the carrying away to Babylon, Jechoniah begat Shealtiel; and Shealtiel begat Zerubbabel;तिनीहरूलाई बेबिलोनमा लगिएपछि येकोनियास शालतिएका पिता थिए। शालतिएल जरूबाबेलका पिता थिए।

13 and Zerubbabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;जरूबाबेल अबिउदका पिता थिए। अबिउद एलियाकिमका पिता थिए। एलियाकिम आजोरका पिता थिए।

14 and Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;आजोर सादोकका पिता थिए। सादोक आखिमका पिता थिए। आखिम एलिउदका पिता थिए।

15 and Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;एलिउद एलियाजरका पिता थिए। एलियाजर मत्थानका पिता थिए। मत्थान याकूबका पिता थिए।

16 and Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.याकूब यूसुफका पिता थिए। यूसुफ मरियमको लोग्ने थिए। अनि मरियमबाट ख्रीष्ट यशूको जन्म भयो।

17 So all the generations from Abraham unto David are fourteen generations; and from David unto the carrying away to Babylon fourteen generations; and from the carrying away to Babylon unto the Christ fourteen generations.यसरी अब्राहामदेखि दाऊदसम्म चौध पुस्ताहरू थिए। दाऊदको समयदेखि मानिसहरूलाई बेबिलोन पुर्याइने बेलासम्म चौध पुस्ताहरू थिए। अनि यहूदीहरूलाई बेबिलोनमा लगिएदेखि ख्रीष्टसम्म चौध पुस्ताहरू थिए।

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.येशू ख्रीष्टकी आमा मरियमको मगनी यूसुफसँग भएको थियो। तर तिनीहरूको विवाह हुनु भन्दा अघिनै मरियम पवित्र आत्माको शक्तिद्वारा गर्भवती भएकी थिइन्।

19 And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.मरियमका पति, यूसुफ एक धार्मिक मानिस थिए। उनीले मरियमलाई विवाह हुनु अघि मानिसहरूका माझमा लज्जित बनाउन चाँहदैन थिए। यसकारण उनी गोप्य प्रकारले मरियमलाई त्याग्ने पक्षमा थिए।

20 But when he thought on these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.तर जब यूसुफले यसो गर्ने विचार लिए, परमप्रभुका एउटा दूत सपनामा उनीकहाँ आए। दूतले भने, “यूसुफ, दाऊदको पुत्र, मरियमलाई आफ्नी पत्नीको रूपमा ग्रहण गर्न तिमी डराउनु पर्दैन। उनको गर्भमा भएको नानी पवित्र आत्माबाट भएको हो।

21 And she shall bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name JESUS; for it is he that shall save his people from their sins.उनले एउटा पुत्रको जन्म दिनेछिन्। तिमीले उहाँको नाउँ येशू राख्नु। उनलाई त्यो नाउँ दिनु, किनभने, उहाँले नै आफ्ना मानिसहरूलाई तिनीहरूका पापहरूबाट उद्वार गर्नुहुनेछ।

22 Now all this is come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,अगमवक्ताद्वारा परमप्रभुले बोल्नु भएको वचन पूरा होस् भनेर यी सबै भन्न आएका हुन्

23 Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, And they shall call his name Immanuel; which is, being interpreted, God with us.“कन्या गर्भवती हुनेछिन्, र एउटा पुत्र जन्माउने छिन्, तिनीहरूले उहाँको नाउ इम्मानुएल राख्नेछन्।”(इम्मानुएलको अर्थ हो “परमेश्वर हामीहरूसित हुनुहुन्छ।”)

24 And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took unto him his wife;जब यूसुफ निद्राबाट ब्यूँझे; परमप्रभुका दूतले तिनलाई जे भनेका थिए त्यहि गरे। यूसुफले मरियमलाई विवाह गरे।

25 and knew her not till she had brought forth a son: and he called his name JESUS.तर मरियमले पुत्र नजन्माउज्जेलसम्म यूसूफले तिनीसित सहवास गरेनन् अनि यूसुफले पूत्रको नाउँ येशू राखिदिए।
