1 त्यसपछि इस्राएलका सबै परिवार समूहहरू हेब्रोनमा दाऊदलाई भेटून आए। तिनीहरूले दाऊदलाई भने, “हेर्नुहोस्, तपाईं र हामी एउटै परिवारका हौ!
2 जब शाऊल हाम्रा राजा थिए, त्यस समयमा पनि तपाईं इस्राएलका सैनिक अगुवा हुनुहुन्थ्यो। तपाईंले हामीलाई युद्धमा दोह्रोयाउँनु भयो अनि तपाईंले हामीलाई युद्धबाट पछि फर्काएर ल्याउनु भयो अनि परमप्रभुले पनि तपाइलाई घोषणा गरिसक्नु भएकै छ, ‘तिमी मेरा मानिसहरूको गोठालो हुनेछौ, र इस्राएलीहरू माथि शासक हुनेछौ।”‘
3 यसरी इस्राएलका सबै अगुवाहरू हेब्रोनमा दाऊदलाई भेट्न आए। राजा दाऊदले ती सबै अगुवाहरू सँग परमप्रभुको सामुन्नेमा हेब्रोनमा एउटा सन्धि गरे। त्यसपछि ती सबै अगुवाहरूले दाऊदलाई राजाको रूपमा अभिषेक गरे।
4 जब दाऊद राजा भए उनि 30 वर्षका थिए। 40 वर्षसम्म तिनले शासन गरे।
5 हेब्रोनमा तिनले यहूदामाथि साढे सात वर्ष शासन गरे अनि इस्राएल र यहूदामाथि यरूशलेममा 33 वर्ष शासन गरे।
6 राजा र तिनका मानिसहरू यरूशलेममा बसिरहेका यबूसीहरूको बिरूद्धमा गए। यबूसीहरूले दाऊदलाई भने, “तिमी हाम्रा शहरमा पस्नसक्दैनौ। यहाँसम्म हाम्रा अन्धा र लङ्गडाहरू नै तिमीलाई रोक्न यथेष्ट हुनेछन।” (तिनीहरूले किन यसो भनेपछि दाऊद तिनीहरूको शहरभित्र पस्नसक्दैन भन्ने विचार थियो।
7 तर दाऊदले सियोन कै किल्ला जिते। त्यस किल्लालाई दाऊद शहर बनाइयो।)
8 त्यस दिन दाऊदले उसका मानिसहरूलाई भने, “यदि तिमीहरू यबूसीहरूलाई हराउन चाहान्छौ भने पानी बगीरहेको सुरूङको पर्खाल भित्र भएर ‘अन्धा र लङ्गडा’ शत्रु भएकहाँ पुग।”यसकारण मानिसहरूले भन्ने गर्छन्, “अन्धा र लङ्गडाहरू पवित्र स्थानहरूमा आउन पाउदैन।”
9 दाऊद यहि किल्लामा बस्ने गर्थे यसकारण यो ठाउँलाई “दाऊदको शहर” नाउँ दिए। दाऊदले अर्को क्षेत्रमा उन्नति गरे अनि यसलाई मिलो नाउँ दिए। त्यस शहर भित्र उसले धेरै भवनहरू पनि बनाए।
10 दाऊद साह्रै शक्तिशाली भए त्यस कारण सर्वशक्तिमान परमप्रभुले तिनको साथ दिनुभयो।
11 सोरका राजा हीरामले दाऊदकहाँ दूतहरू पठाए। हीरामले देवदारूको काठ सिकर्मी र डकर्मीहरू पनि पठाए। तिनीहरूले दाऊदको लागि एउटा महल बनाए।
12 तब दाऊदले बुझेकि परमप्रभुले तिनलाई साँच्चै इस्राएलको राजा बनाउनु भएका छन्। दाऊदले यो पनि बुझे यहाँ पाए कि परमप्रभुले उहाँको राज्य महत्वपूर्ण परमेश्वरको मानिस, इस्राएलका मानिसहरूको खातिर दिनु भएको छ।
13 दाऊद हेब्रोनदेखि यरूशलेम गए। यरूशलेममा उसले धेरै पत्नीहरू अनि उप-पत्नीहरू पाए। केहि सन्तानहरू यरूशलेममा जन्मिए।
14 यरूशलेममा जन्मिएका छोराहरू हुन्; शम्मू, शोबाब, नातान, सुलेमान,
15 यिमार, एलीशू, नेपेग, यापि,
16 एलीशमा, एल्यादा तथा एलीपेलेत।
17 पलिस्तीहरूले इस्राएलको राजाको रूपमा दाऊदको अभिषेक भएको खबर सुने। यसर्थ दाऊदलाई मार्नको निम्ति पलिश्तीहरू दाऊदको खोजी गर्न थाले। तर दाऊदले यो थाहा पाएर यरूशलेमको किल्लामा गए।
18 पलिश्तीहरू आएर रपाईमको बेंसीमा डेरा जमाए।
19 दाऊदले परमप्रभुलाई सोध्दै भने, “के म पलिश्तीहरूसँग युद्ध गर्न निस्कौं? पलिश्तीहरूलाई हराउनका निम्ति मलाई सहयोग गर्नुहुन्छ?”परमप्रभुले दाऊदलाई भन्नु भयो, “निश्चय जाऊ, म पलिश्तीहरूलाई परास्त गर्न तिमीलाई सहायता गर्नेछु।”
20 तब दाऊद बाल-पराजीम गए र पलिश्तीहरूलाई त्यहीं हराए। दाऊदले भने, “परमप्रभुले मेरा शत्रुका सेनाहरूका बाँध भत्किएर छताछुल्ल पोखिएको पानी झैं भगाउनु भयो।” यही कारण दाऊदले त्यस ठाउँको नाउँ “बाल-पराजीम” राखे।
21 पलिश्तीहरूले तिनीहरूको देवताको मूर्तीहरू त्यहीं छोडेका थिए। दाऊद र उसका मानिसहरूले तिनीहरू सबै हटाइ दिएँ।
22 फेरि पनि पलिश्तीहरूले रपाईमको बेंसीमा आएर पाल हाले।
23 दाऊदले परमप्रभुमा प्रार्थना गरे। त्यस समय परमप्रभुले दाऊदलाई भन्नुभयो, “त्यहाँ माथि नजाऊ। शत्रुका सेनाहरूलाई पछाडिबाट आक्रमण गर। पीपलका रूखको अर्को तिरबाट आक्रमण गर।
24 पीपलको रूखमाथि पलिश्तीहरू बडिरहेको आवाज सुनिनेछ। त्यसबेला चाँडो आक्रमण गर परमप्रभुले पलिश्तीहरूलाई हराउन सहयोग गर्नु हुनेछ।”
25 परमप्रभुले आज्ञा गरे जस्तै दाऊदले गरे। अनि तिनले पलिश्तीहरूलाई हराए। तिनले गेबा देखि गेजेरसम्म खेदेर मारे।
1 Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
2 Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the Lord said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.
3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they anointed David king over Israel.
4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.
5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.
6 And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.
7 Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.
8 And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David’s soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.
9 So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.
10 And David went on, and grew great, and the Lord God of hosts was with him.
11 And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house.
12 And David perceived that the Lord had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.
13 And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.
14 And these be the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
15 Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
16 And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.
17 But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.
18 The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
19 And David inquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the Lord said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
20 And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The Lord hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim.
21 And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.
22 And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
23 And when David inquired of the Lord, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
24 And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the Lord go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
25 And David did so, as the Lord had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.
Jeremiah 20 in Tamil and English
1 ઈમ્મેરનો પુત્ર યાજક પાશહૂર યહોવાના મંદિરના રક્ષકોનો ઉપરી હતો. તેણે યમિર્યાને આવી ભવિષ્યવાણી ભાખતો સાંભળ્યો,
Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in the house of the Lord, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.
2 તેથી તેણે યમિર્યાની ધરપકડ કરી અને તેને કોરડાથી ફટકાર્યો, પછી તેણે તેને મંદિરના બિન્યામીન દરવાજા આગળ સાંકળોથી બાધ્યો.
Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the Lord.
3 બીજા દિવસે સવારે પાશહૂરે યમિર્યાને હેડમાંથી છૂટો કર્યો ત્યારે યમિર્યાએ તેને કહ્યું, “યહોવા તને પાશહૂર નહિ કહે, પણ માગોર-મિસ્સાબીબ (સર્વત્ર ત્રાસ) કહેશે.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The Lord hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magor-missabib.
4 કારણ કે યહોવા તારા પર તથા તારા સર્વ મિત્રો પર ભય મોકલશે અને તેઓના શત્રુઓની તરવારોથી તેઓને તું મૃત્યુ પામતાં જોશે. આખો યહૂદિયા હું બાબિલના રાજાને સોંપી દઇશ. તે તેમને કેદ કરીને બાબિલ લઇ જશે અને ત્યાં તરવારથી મારી નાખશે.
For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.
5 આ શહેરની સર્વ સંપત્તિ, એના બધા ભંડારો અને કિમતી વસ્તુઓ, યહૂદિયાના રાજાનો બધો ખજાનો હું તેમના શત્રુઓને સોંપી દઇશ, શત્રુઓ લૂંટમાર કરીને એનો કબજો લેશે અને બાબિલ લઇ જવામાં આવશે.
Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.
6 તું, પાશહૂર, અને તારું કુટુંબ કેદ પકડાશો, તમને બાબિલ લઇ જવામાં આવશે, અને ત્યાં તમારું મોત થશે અને ત્યાં તમે દટાશો. તું અને તારા બધા મિત્રો, જેમને તેં ખોટી ભવિષ્યવાણી સંભળાવેલી છે.”‘
And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into captivity: and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied lies.
7 પછી મેં કહ્યું, “હે યહોવા, તમે મને યુકિતપૂર્વક છેતર્યો છે. તમારા સંદેશાઓ આપવા માટે તમે મને દબાણ કર્યુ. કારણ કે મારા કરતાં તમે અતિ બળવાન છો. પરંતુ હવે હું બધા દિવસો હાંસીપાત્ર થયો છું અને સર્વ લોકો મારી મશ્કરી કરે છે.
O Lord, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.
8 કેમ કે જ્યારે જ્યારે હું બોલું છું ત્યારે ત્યારે ઘાટાં પાડીને એક જ વાત કહેવાની છે, ‘હિંસા અને વિનાશ!’ હે યહોવા, તારી વાણી સંભળાવવાને કારણે આખો દિવસ મારે હાંસી અને નામોશી સહન કરવી પડે છે.”
For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the Lord was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.
9 હું જો એમ કહું કે, “હવે હું યહોવાને સંભારીશ નહિ, એને નામે બોલું જ નહિ.” તો તારી એ વાણી મારા અંગે અંગમાં ભંડારાયેલી આગની જેમ મારા અંતરમાં ભડભડી ઊઠે છે; અને હું તેને કાબૂમાં રાખવા મથું છું, પણ નથી રાખી શકતો.
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
10 ચારે બાજુથી હું તેઓની ધમકીઓ ઉચ્ચારાતી સાંભળું છું અને મને ડર લાગે છે, તેઓ કહે છે, “આપણે ફરિયાદ કરીશું. જેઓ મારા મિત્રો હતા તેઓ સાવધાનીથી મને નિહાળે છે કે, ક્યારે ભયંકર ભૂલ કરી બેસું. તે પોતે જ ફસાઇ જશે અને ત્યારે આપણે તેના પર આપણું વૈર વાળીશું. તેઓ આ પ્રમાણે કહે છે.”
For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.
11 પરંતુ મહાન યોદ્ધાની જેમ યહોવા મારી પડખે ઊભા છે. તે પરાક્રમી તથા ભયાવહ છે. મારા જુલમગારો ઠોકર ખાશે, તેઓ નહિ ફાવે, તેઓ નિષ્ફળ જતાં ભારે ફજેત થશે; તેઓ બધી રીતે અપમાનિત થશે અને સદાને માટે તેઓ પર કલંક લાગશે.
But the Lord is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
12 હે સૈન્યોના દેવ યહોવા, તમે સતનું પારખું કરો છો, મારા મનનો અને હૃદયનો તાગ લો છો; અને હું ઇચ્છું છું કે હું તમને એમના પર બદલો વાળતા જોવા પામુંં, કારણ કે મેં મારો દાવો ફકત તમને સોંપ્યો છે.
But, O Lord of hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause.
13 યહોવાના ગીત ગાઓ, એમનાં ગુણગાન કરો. કારણ, તેણે દુષ્ટોના હાથમાંથી દરિદ્રીઓનું જીવન ઉગારી લીધુ છે.
Sing unto the Lord, praise ye the Lord: for he hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.
14 તેમ છતાં મારા જન્મનો દિવસ શાપિત થાઓ!
Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.
15 તને પુત્ર થયો છે એવી વધામણી મારા પિતાને આપનાર માણસ શાપિત થાઓ.
Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child is born unto thee; making him very glad.
16 તે માણસના હાલ એ પુરાતન નગરોના જેવા થાવ. જેનો યહોવાએ દયા રાખ્યા વગર નાશ કર્યો છે, ભલે તેને આખો દિવસ રણનાદ સંભળાય; સવારમાં આર્તનાદ અને બપોરે યુદ્ધનાદ સંભળાય,
And let that man be as the cities which the Lord overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide;
17 કારણ કે, તેણે મને ગર્ભમાં જ મારી ન નાખ્યો, તો મારી માતા જ મારી કબર બની હોત, તેનું ઉદર સદા માટે મોટું રહ્યું હોત.
Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.
18 હું કષ્ટો અને દુ:ખ સહન કરવા માટે, શરમાળ જીવન જીવવા માટે શું કામ ગર્ભમાંથી બહાર આવ્યો?
Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?
