ଅନନ୍ତ ରେ ଯିହୁଦାର ଅଧିପତିମାନେ ଏହିସବୁ ବିଷଯ ଶୁଣି ରାଜଗୃହରୁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ମନ୍ଦିରକୁ ଆସିଲେ ଓ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ମନ୍ଦିରର ନୂତନ ଦ୍ବାରର ପ୍ରବେଶ ସ୍ଥାନ ରେ ବସିଲେ।

Jeremiah 38:4
ତେଣୁ ସହେି ଅଧିପତିଗଣ ରାଜାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଆମ୍ଭମାନେେ ଅନୁ ରୋଧ କରୁଅଛୁ, ଏହି ଯିରିମିୟକୁ ମୃତ୍ଯୁଦଣ୍ଡ ହେଉ। କାରଣ ସେ ଏହି ନଗରର ଅବଶିଷ୍ଟ ଯୋଦ୍ଧାମାନଙ୍କୁ ଏହି ପ୍ରକାର କଥା କହି ନିରୁତ୍ସାହିତ କରୁଅଛି। ପୁଣି ସେ ଏହି ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କର ମଙ୍ଗଳ ଚାହୁଁ ନାହିଁ, ବରଂ ସମାନଙ୍କେର ଅମଙ୍ଗଳ ଚାହୁଁଛି।
Jeremiah 37:14
ସେତବେେଳେ ଯିରିମିୟ କହିଲେ, ଏହା ମିଥ୍ଯା କଥା, ମୁଁ କଲଦୀଯମାନଙ୍କ ପକ୍ଷକୁ ଯାଉ ନାହିଁ। ମାତ୍ର ଯିରିମିୟ ତାଙ୍କ କଥା ନ ଶୁଣି ତାଙ୍କୁ ବନ୍ଦୀ କରି ଅଧିପତିମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ନଇଗେଲା।
Jeremiah 36:25
ଆୁ ରାଜା ଯେପରି ପୁସ୍ତକ ପୋଡ଼ି ନ ପକାନ୍ତି, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ଇଲନାଥନ, ଦଲାଯ ଓ ଶମରିଯ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ନିବଦନେ କରିଥିଲେ, ମାତ୍ର ସେ ସମାନଙ୍କେ କଥା ଶୁଣିଲେ ନାହିଁ।

ସେତବେେଳେ ସେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ଯ ଶୁଣି ରାଜଗୃହକୁ ଓହ୍ଲାଇ ଲେଖକର କଠାେରୀକୁ ଗଲା, ସେତବେେଳେ ସେ ସ୍ଥାନ ରେ ସମସ୍ତ ଅଧିପତି, ଯଥା : ଇଲୀଶାମା ଲେଖକ, ଶମଯିଯର ପୁତ୍ର ଦଲଯିଯ, ଅକବୋରର ପୁତ୍ର ଇଲନାଥନ୍, ଶାଫନର ପୁତ୍ର ଗମରିଯ ଓ ହନାନିଯର ପୁତ୍ର ସିଦିକିଯ ଉପବିଷ୍ଟ ଥିଲେ।

ପୁଣି ଯିହୁଦାର ଅଧିପତିଗଣଙ୍କୁ, ୟିରୁଶାଲମର ଅଧିପତିମାନଙ୍କୁ ନପୁଂସକମାନଙ୍କୁ, ଯାଜକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଓ ଦେଶର ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ଯେଉଁମାନେ ଗୋବତ୍ସର ଦୁଇଖଣ୍ଡ ମଧ୍ଯ ଦଇେ ଗମନ କଲେ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ମଧ୍ଯ ସମର୍ପଣ କରିବା।

ଯାହା ହେଉ, ଶାଫନର ପୁତ୍ର ଅହୀକାମ ଯିରିମିୟକୁ ରକ୍ଷା କଲେ। ଯେଉଁଥିପାଇଁ ତାଙ୍କୁ ହତ୍ଯା କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ହସ୍ତାନ୍ତର କରାଗଲା ନାହିଁ।

ତା'ପ ରେ ଅଧିପତିଗଣ ଓ ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ଯାଜକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଓ ଭବିଷ୍ଯଦବକ୍ତାମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଯିରିମିୟ ପ୍ରାଣଦଣ୍ଡର ଯୋଗ୍ଯ ନୁହେଁ। କାରଣ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପରମେଶ୍ବର ଯିରିମିୟଙ୍କୁ ଏହିସବୁ କହିଛନ୍ତି।

ମାତ୍ର ସେ ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ଥଳୀଗୁଡିକୁ ବିନିଷ୍ଟ କଲେ ନାହିଁ। ସେ ସମୟରେ ମଧ୍ଯ ଲୋକମାନେ ସହେି ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ଥଳୀ ରେ ବଳୀଦାନ କଲେ ଓ ଧୂପ ଜଳାଇଲେ। ଯୋଥମ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ମନ୍ଦିରର ଉପର ଦ୍ବାର ନିର୍ମାଣ କଲେ।
