ୟିରୁଶାଲମର ଲୋକମାନେ ଅହସିଯଙ୍କୁ ୟିହୋରାମ୍ଙ୍କ ସ୍ଥାନ ରେ ନୂତନ ରାଜା ରୂପେ ମନୋନୀତ କଲେ। ଅହସିଯ ଯିହାରୋମ୍ଙ୍କର କନିଷ୍ଠ ପୁତ୍ର ଥିଲେ। ଯେଉଁ ଆରବୀଯ ଲୋକମାନେ ଯିହାରୋମ୍ଙ୍କର ଛାଉଣୀ ଉପରେ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କରିବାକୁ ଆସିଥିଲେ, ସମାନେେ ଯିହାରୋମ୍ଙ୍କର ସମସ୍ତ ଜେଷ୍ଠପୁତ୍ରଙ୍କୁ ବଧ କରିଥିଲେ। ଅତଏବ, ଅହସିଯ ଯିହୁଦା ରେ ରାଜ୍ଯ ଶାସନ କରିବାକୁ ଆରମ୍ଭ କଲେ।

ୟିରୁଶାଲମର ଲୋକମାନେ ଅହସିଯଙ୍କୁ ୟିହୋରାମ୍ଙ୍କ ସ୍ଥାନ ରେ ନୂତନ ରାଜା ରୂପେ ମନୋନୀତ କଲେ। ଅହସିଯ ଯିହାରୋମ୍ଙ୍କର କନିଷ୍ଠ ପୁତ୍ର ଥିଲେ। ଯେଉଁ ଆରବୀଯ ଲୋକମାନେ ଯିହାରୋମ୍ଙ୍କର ଛାଉଣୀ ଉପରେ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କରିବାକୁ ଆସିଥିଲେ, ସମାନେେ ଯିହାରୋମ୍ଙ୍କର ସମସ୍ତ ଜେଷ୍ଠପୁତ୍ରଙ୍କୁ ବଧ କରିଥିଲେ। ଅତଏବ, ଅହସିଯ ଯିହୁଦା ରେ ରାଜ୍ଯ ଶାସନ କରିବାକୁ ଆରମ୍ଭ କଲେ।
