அதற்கு அவர்: அற்பவிசுவாசிகளே! ஏன் பயப்படுகிறீர்கள் என்று சொல்லி; எழுந்து, காற்றையும் கடலையும் அதட்டினார். உடனே மிகுந்த அமைதலுண்டாயிற்று.

சமுத்திரங்களின் மும்முரத்தையும் அவைகளுடைய அலைகளின் இரைச்சலையும், ஜனங்களின் அமளியையும் அமர்த்துகிறீர்.

தேவரீர், சமுத்திரத்தின் பெருமையை ஆளுகிறவர்; அதின் அலைகள் எழும்பும்போது அவைகளை அடங்கப்பண்ணுகிறீர்.

Jonahவை எடுத்துச் சமுத்திரத்திலே போட்டுவிட்டார்கள்; சமுத்திரம் தன் மும்முரத்தைவிட்டு அமர்ந்தது.

அவர் எழுந்து, காற்றை அதட்டி, கடலைப்பார்த்து: இரையாதே, அமைதலாயிரு என்றார். அப்பொழுது காற்று நின்றுபோய், மிகுந்த அமைதலுண்டாயிற்று.

படவு ஓடுகையில் அவர் நித்திரையாயிருந்தார். அப்பொழுது கடலிலே சுழல்காற்றுண்டானதால், அவர்கள் மோசமடையத்தக்கதாய்ப் படவு ஜலத்தினால் நிறைந்தது.
