ਅਹੀਤੋਫ਼ਲ ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਸਲਾਹ-ਕਾਰ ਸੀ। ਹੂਸ਼ਈ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਅਰਕੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੀ।

ਅਹੀਥੋਫ਼ਲ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਸਲਾਹਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਗਿਲੋਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੀ। ਜਦੋਂ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਹੀਥੋਫ਼ਲ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਲੋਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬੁਲਾਵਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਯੋਜਨਾਵਾਂ ਬੜੀਆਂ ਸਹੀ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਲੋਕ ਉਸਦਾ ਸਾਬ ਦੇਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ।

ਦਾਊਦ ਪਹਾੜ ਦੀ ਚੋਟੀ ਤੇ ਆਇਆ। ਇਹ ਉਹ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਹ ਅਕਸਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਹੂਸ਼ਈ ਅਰਕੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਾੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਪਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ।

ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਅਹੀਥੋਫ਼ਲ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਇਉਂ ਜਾਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਦਾਊਦ ਅਤੇ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੋਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਉਸਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਬੜੀ ਮਹੱਤਵਯੋਗ ਸੀ।

ਅਹੀਥੋਫ਼ਲ ਦਾ ਖੁਦਕੁਸ਼ੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਹੀਥੋਫ਼ਲ ਨੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਖੋਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਸਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਖੋਤੇ ਤੇ ਕਾਠੀ ਪਾਕੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਪਰ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਮੁੜ ਗਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਾਹਾ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਜਦੋਂ ਅਹੀਥੋਫ਼ਲ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਦੱਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
