ਸ਼ਾਮ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਹੋਕਾ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਹਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪੋ-ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰ ਜਾਵੇ।

ਤਦ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਰ ਤੀਕ ਗਿਆ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਖਬਰ ਝਟ ਫ਼ੈਲ ਗਈ ਕਿ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੁਆਰ ਤੇ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਆਏ। ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਸੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰੋ-ਘਰੀਁ ਭੱਜ ਗਏ ਸਨ।

ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ! ਸਾਡੀ ਯੱਸੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਵੰਡ ਨਹੀਂ! ਹੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਓ, ਆਪਣੇ ਤੰਬੂਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਪਸ ਚੱਲੇ ਜਾਓ। ਹੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ, ਆਪਣੇ ਖੁਦ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਦਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਰੱਖ!”

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਉਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਭਾਈਆਂ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੜਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ। ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਪਰਤ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਪਰਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ!” ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਸੁਣਿਆ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਚੱਲੇ ਗਏ।

ਤਾਂ ਮੀਕਾਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖ ਸੱਕਦਾਂ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਵਾਪਰੇਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਾੜੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਆਜੜੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਖਿੰਡਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਹੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਆਗੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੜਨ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਤ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।”

ਅਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਰੱਥਾਂ ਦੇ 32 ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਛੁੱਟ ਹਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਛੋਟੇ-ਵੱਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾ ਲੜਨਾ। ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਜਾਨੋ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ।
