1 And the sons of Reuben, the oldest son of Israel, (for he was the oldest son, but, because he made his father's bride-bed unclean, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel; but he is not to be given the place of the oldest.ਰਊਬੇਨ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲੋਠਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਰਊਬੇਨ ਸੀ। ਰਊਬੇਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲੋਠਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਵਿਸੇਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਮਿਲਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਸਨ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੀ ਬੀਵੀ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਭੋਗ ਕੀਤਾ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਕ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਝਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹ ਹੱਕ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ। ਰਊਬੇਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਇਉਂ ਕੁਲ ਪੱਤ੍ਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਿਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ। ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਹੋਇਆ। ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਆਗੂ ਬਣੇ। ਪਰ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਹੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਸਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕਿ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਸਨ। ਰਊਬੇਨ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਹਨੋਕ, ਫ਼ੱਲੂ, ਹਸਰੋਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਮੀ ਸਨ।

2 Though Judah became stronger than his brothers, and from him came the ruler, the birthright was Joseph's:)

3 The sons of Reuben, the oldest son of Israel: Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi.

4 The sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,ਯੋਏਲ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸ਼ਮਅਯਾਹ ਉਸਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਗੋਗ ਸ਼ਮਅਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਗੋਗ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਸੀ।

5 Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son,ਮੀਕਾਹ ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੀਕਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਰਆਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਆਲ ਸੀ।

6 Beerah his son, whom Tiglath-pileser, king of Assyria, took away as a prisoner: he was chief of the Reubenites.ਬਆਲ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਬਏਰਾਹ। ਬਏਰਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਤਿਲਗਥ-ਪਿਲਨਅਸਰ ਬੰਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਗਏ। ਬਥਰਾਹ ਰਊਬੇਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦਾ ਆਗੂ ਸੀ।

7 And his brothers by their families, when the list of their generations was made up: the chief, Jeiel, and Zechariah,ਯੋਏਲ ਦੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਓਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਦਰਜ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ: ਯਈੇਏਲ ਪਹਿਲੋਠਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ, ਫ਼ੇਰ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਬਲਆ।

8 And Bela, the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who was living in Aroer, as far as Nebo and Baal-meon;ਬਲਆ ਆਜ਼ਾਜ਼ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ, ਆਜ਼ਾਜ਼ ਸ਼ਮਆ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਮਆ ਯੋਏਲ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਅਰੋਏਰ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਬੋ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬਆਲ ਮਓਨ ਤੀਕ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਸਨ।

9 And to the east his limits went as far as the starting point of the waste land, ending at the river Euphrates, because their cattle were increased in number in the land of Gilead.ਬਲਆ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਮਾਰੂਥਲ ਦੀ ਨੁਕਰ ਤੀਕ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪੂਰਬ ਵੱਲ ਫ਼ਰਾਤ ਦਰਿਆ ਤੀਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਇਸ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਸਨ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਸ਼ੂ ਗਿਲਆਦ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਧ ਗਏ ਸਨ।

10 And in the days of Saul they made war on the Hagarites, and overcame them; and they put up their tents through all the land east of Gilead.ਜਦੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸੀ, ਬਲਆ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਗਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਇਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗਿਲਆਦ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਖੇਤਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੰਬੂਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹੇ ਜੋ ਓਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਹਗਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਨ।

11 And the sons of Gad were living opposite to them, in the land of Bashan as far as Salecah:ਗਾਦ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਗਾਦ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਰਊਬੇਨ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕ ਹੀ ਵਸੇ। ਇਹ ਗਾਦੀ ਲੋਕ ਬਾਸ਼ਾਨ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇ ਸਲਕਾਹ ਤੀਕ ਵਸੇ।

12 Joel the chief, and Shapham the second, and Janai and Shaphat in Bashan;ਯੋਏਲ ਬਾਸ਼ਾਨ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਆਗੂ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸ਼ਾਫ਼ਾਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਯਅਨਈ ਆਗੂ ਬਣਿਆ।

13 And their brothers, the men of their family: Michael and Meshullam and Sheba and Jorai and Jacan and Zia and Eber, seven of them.ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੱਤਾਂ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਉਂ ਇਉਂ ਸਨ: ਮੀਕਾਏਲ, ਮਸ਼ੂੱਲਾਮ, ਸ਼ਬਾ, ਯੋਰਈ, ਯਅਕਾਨ, ਜ਼ੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਏਬਰ।

14 These were the sons of Abihail, the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz;ਇਹ ਅਬੀਹਯਿਲ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਸਨ। ਅਬੀਹਯਿਲ ਹੂਰੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੂਰੀ ਯਾਰੋਅਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਰੋਆਹ ਗਿਲਆਦ ਦਾ। ਗਿਲਆਦ ਮੀਕਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਮੀਕਾਏਲ ਯਸ਼ੀਸ਼ਈ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਯਸ਼ੀਸ਼ਈ ਯਹਦੋ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਯਹਦੋ ਬੂਜ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ।

15 Ahi, the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, head of their families.ਅਬਦੀਏਲ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਅਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਬਦੀਏਲ ਗੂਨੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਅਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਆਗੂ ਸੀ।

16 And they were living in Gilead in Bashan, in its small towns and in all the grass-land of Sirion as far as its limits.ਗਾਦ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਬਾਸ਼ਾਨ ਦੇ ਗਿਲਆਦ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਸ-ਪਾਸ ਦੇ ਛੋਟੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਰੋਨ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀਮਾ ਤਾਈਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚਰਾਂਦਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।

17 All these were listed under the names of their families, in the time of Jotham, king of Judah, and in the time of Jeroboam, king of Israel.ਯੋਥਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਯਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਦਿਨੀ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਉਂ ਗਾਦ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਇਤਹਾਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁੱਲ ਪੱਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਲਿਖੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ। ਯੋਥਾਮ ਉਨ੍ਹੀ ਦਿਨੀ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਯਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ।

18 There were forty-four thousand, seven hundred and sixty of the sons of Reuben and of the Gadites and of the half-tribe of Manasseh, all strong men, expert in the use of the body-cover, the sword, and the bow, and in the art of war, all able to take up arms.ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਝ ਮਾਹਰ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਮਨੱਸ਼ਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਧੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਅਤੇ ਰਊਬੇਨ ਅਤੇ ਗਾਦ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਕੋਲ ਕੁੱਲ 44,760 ਬਹਾਦਰ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਕੋਲ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਢਾਲਾਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਮਾਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਕੁਸ਼ਲ ਸਨ।

19 And they went to war against the Hagarites, with Jetur and Naphish and Nodab.ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਗਰੀਆਂ, ਯਟੂਰ, ਨਾਫ਼ੀਸ਼ ਤੇ ਨੋਦਾਬ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਲੜਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ।

20 And they were helped against them, so that the Hagarites, and those with them, were given into their power. For they sent up prayers to God in the fight, and he gave ear to them, because they put their faith in him.ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੱਸ਼ਹ, ਰਊਬੇਨ ਅਤੇ ਗਾਦ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਨ ਨੇ ਲੜਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਮਦਦ ਲਈ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਗਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕੀਤੀ। ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਗਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਗਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਹਰਾਇਆ।

21 And they took away their cattle: fifty thousand camels, two hundred and fifty thousand sheep, and two thousand asses, and a hundred thousand men.ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਗਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਸ਼ੂ ਵੀ ਲੈ ਲਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ 50,000 ਊਠ 2,50,000 ਭੇਡਾਂ, 2,000 ਗਧੇ ਅਤੇ 1,00,000 ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਲੁੱਟ ਲਿਆ ਭਾਵ ਲੈ ਗਏ।

22 And a very great number went to their death, because the war was God's purpose. And they went on living in their place till they were taken away as prisoners.ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਹਗਰੀ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਯੁੱਧ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਰਊਬੇਨ ਦੇ ਪੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ। ਫ਼ਿਰ ਮਨੱਸ਼ਹ, ਰਊਬੇਨ ਅਤੇ ਗਾਦ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਗਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਤੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਜਲਾਵਤਨੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਬੇਬੀਲੋਨ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਜਾਏ ਜਾਣ ਤੀਕ ਇੱਥੇ ਰਹੇ।

23 And the men of the half-tribe of Manasseh were living in the land: and their numbers were increased till all the land from Bashan to Baal-hermon and Senir and the mountain Hermon was theirs.ਮਨੱਸ਼ਹ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਧੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਾਸ਼ਾਨ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਰਹੇ। ਉਹ ਬਾਸ਼ਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਅਲ-ਹਰਮੋਨ, ਸਨੀਰ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਮੋਨ ਪਰਬਤ ਤੀਕ ਵੱਧਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਲ ਬਣ ਗਏ।

24 And these were the heads of their families: Epher and Ishi and Eliel and Azriel and Jeremiah and Hodaviah and Jahdiel, men of war, of great name, heads of families.ਮਨੱਸ਼ਹ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਧੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਸਨ: ਏਫ਼ਰ, ਯਿਸ਼ਈ, ਅਲੀਏਲ, ਅਜ਼ਰੀਏਲ, ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ, ਹੋਦਵਯਾਹ, ਯਹਦੀਏਲ। ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਬਹਾਦੁਰ ਵੀਰ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਕਤਵਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਨ। ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪੋ-ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ।

25 And they did evil against the God of their fathers, worshipping the gods of the people of the land, whom God had put to destruction before them.ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਲੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤਬਾਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।

26 And the God of Israel put an impulse into the heart of Pul, king of Assyria, and of Tiglath-pileser, king of Assyria, who took them away as prisoners, all the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh, to Halah and Habor and Hara and to the river of Gozan, to this day.ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਪੂਲ ਨੂੰ ਉਕਸਾਰਿਆ ਉਹ ਤਿਲਗਥ ਪਿਲਨਸਰ ਵੀ ਕਹਾਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਰਊਬੇਨ ਅਤੇ ਗਾਦ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੱਸ਼ਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਧੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਨਾਲ ਲੜਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਹਲਹ, ਹਾਬੋਰ, ਹਾਰਾ, ਅਤੇ ਗੋਜ਼ਾਨ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੀਕ ਵੀ ਓੱਥੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
