ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਲੀਆਬ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਸੈਨਾ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਸੁਣ ਲਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਊਦ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੜਾ ਕਰੋਧ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ? ਤੂੰ ਉੱਥੇ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਜੜ ਨੂੰ ਭਲਾ ਕਿਸਦੇ ਸਹਾਰੇ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ? ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਕਿਸ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ? ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜੋ ਕੰਮ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ। ਮੈਂ ਸਭ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਮ ਤੋਂ ਜੀਅ ਚੁਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਇੱਥੇ ਲੜਾਈ ਵੇਖਣ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।”
