ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਉਸ ਵਰਾਂਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੀ ਗਾਰਦ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਸੀ। ਬਾਬਲ ਦੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਦੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਗਦਲਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਗਦਲਯਾਹ ਅਹੀਕਾਮ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਅਹੀਕਾਮ ਸ਼ਾਫ਼ਾਨ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਗਦਲਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਘਰ ਲੈ ਜਾਵੇ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਵਾਪਸ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚਕਾਰ ਰਿਹਾ।

ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ, ਬਾਰੂਕ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਪੱਤਰੀ ਪੜ੍ਹੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਸਨ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪੱਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੜ੍ਹਿਆ। ਬਾਰੂਕ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਤਰੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਕੇ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ। ਬਾਰੂਕ ਨੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਪੱਤਰੀ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉੱਪਰ ਵਰਾਂਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਮਰਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਕਮਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਕਮਰਾ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਸੀ। ਗਮਰਯਾਹ ਸ਼ਾਫ਼ਾਨ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਗਮਰਯਾਹ ਮੰਦਰ ਦਾ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਸੀ।

ਸਰਬ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, “ਸ਼ਮਅਯਾਹ, ਤੂੰ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੱਠੀਆਂ ਭੇਜੀਆਂ। ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਮਆਸੇਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਸਫ਼ਨਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੱਠੀਆਂ ਭੇਜੀਆਂ। ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਚਿੱਠੀਆਂ ਪਾਈਆਂ। ਤੂੰ ਇਹ ਚਿੱਠੀਆਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾਇਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ।

ਸਰਬ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕੋਲਾਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਹਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਮਆਸਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਿਦਕੀਯਾਹ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ: “ਇਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਬੰਦੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਝੂਠ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੈ। (ਪਰ ਉਹ ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।) ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨਬੂਕਦਨੱਸਰ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਅਤੇ ਨਬੂਕਦਨੱਸਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਵੇਗਾ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਬਾਬਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦੀਵਾਨ ਹੋ।

ਸਿਦਕੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਅਲਆਸਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਗਮਰਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜੇ ਨਬੂਕਦਨੱਸਰ ਵੱਲ ਘਲਿਆ। ਸਿਦਕੀਯਾਹ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੀ। ਅਲਆਸਾਹ ਸ਼ਾਫ਼ਾਨ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਗਮਰਯਾਹ ਹਿਲਕੀਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਮਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਬਲ ਲਿਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਖਤ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਖਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੀ:

ਉੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਆਦਮੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੀ ਸ਼ਾਫ਼ਾਨ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਹੀਕਾਮ। ਅਹੀਕਾਮ ਨੇ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਹੀਕਾਮ ਨੇ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਕਤਲ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਇਆ।

ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸਿਦਕੀਯਾਹ ਦੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਇਹੀ ਉਹ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ। ਇਹ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਉਦੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਸਿਦਕੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਪਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਸਫ਼ਨਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਪਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਮਲਕੀਯਾਹ ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਫ਼ਨਯਾਹ ਮਅਸੇਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਪਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਫ਼ਨਯਾਹ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਏ।

ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਉਦੋਂ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਯੋਸ਼ੀਯਾਹ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੀ ਕੌਮ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੀ। ਯੋਸ਼ੀਯਾਹ ਆਮੋਨ ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਜੇ ਯੋਸ਼ੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਤੇਰ੍ਹਵੇਂ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ।
