ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਗਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਉਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ: ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਸੋ ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਚੁਣ ਲੈ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਪਾਵਾਂ।”
