ਤਾਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਹਿਲਕੀਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ, ਸ਼ਾਫ਼ਾਨ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਹੀਕਾਮ ਮੀਕਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਬਦੋਨ, ਸ਼ਾਫ਼ਾਨ ਮੁਨਸ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਅਸਾਯਾਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

Jeremiah 26:22

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਅਹੀਕਾਮ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਗਦਲਯਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਮਿਸਪਾਹ ਚੱਲਾ ਗਿਆ। ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਗਦਲਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਟਿਕ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਸਨ।

ਗਦਲਯਾਹ ਵਲਦ ਅਹੀਕਾਮ ਵਲਦ ਸ਼ਾਫ਼ਾਨ ਨੇ ਸੌਂਹ ਖਾਧੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਸੁੱਖ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਬਣਾਵੇਗਾ। ਗਲਦਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ: “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਓ, ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਨਾ ਡਰੋ। ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੋ। ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰੋਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਚੰਗਾ ਵਾਪਰੇਗਾ।
Jeremiah 40:14
ਯੋਹਾਨਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਗਦਲਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਅੰਮੋਨੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਅਲੀਸ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ? ਉਸ ਨੇ ਨਬਨਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਇਸ਼ਮਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਘਲਿਆ ਹੈ।” ਪਰ ਅਹੀਕਾਮ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਗਦਲਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਤਬਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
