Genesis 38:16
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਨਸੀ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਜੋੜ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।” (ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਪਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਸਦੀ ਨੂੰਹ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਸੀ।) ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਸ ਬਦਲੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਦੇਵੇਂਗਾ?”

| and said, | וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ | wayyōʾmer | va-YOH-MER |
| to, Go | הָֽבָה | hābâ | HA-va |
| I pray thee, | נָּא֙ | nāʾ | na |
| in come me let | אָב֣וֹא | ʾābôʾ | ah-VOH |
| unto | אֵלַ֔יִךְ | ʾēlayik | ay-LA-yeek |
| thee; (for | כִּ֚י | kî | kee |
| knew he | לֹ֣א | lōʾ | loh |
| not | יָדַ֔ע | yādaʿ | ya-DA |
| that | כִּ֥י | kî | kee |
| she | כַלָּת֖וֹ | kallātô | ha-la-TOH |
| law.) in daughter his was | הִ֑וא | hiw | heev |
