ਇੱਕ ਦਿਨ, ਸਨਹੇਰੀਬ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ, ਨਿਸਰੋਕ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ, ਅੰਦਰਮਲਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਸਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਕਤਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਹ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਰਾਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਭੱਜ ਗਏ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਨਹੇਰੀਬ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਏਸਰ-ਹੱਦੋਨ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦਾ ਨਵਾਂ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ।

his god,	אֱלֹהָ֗יו	ʾĕlōhîm	ay-loh-HEEM
that Adrammelech	וְֽאַדְרַמֶּ֨לֶךְ	ʾădrammelek	ud-ra-meh-LEK
and Sharezer	וְשַׂרְאֶ֤צֶר	šarʾeṣer	shahr-eh-TSER
his sons	בָּנָיו֙	bēn	bane
smote	הִכֻּ֣הוּ	nākâ	na-HA
him with the sword;	בַחֶ֔רֶב	ḥereb	heh-REV
and they	וְהֵ֥מָּה	hēm	hame
escaped	נִמְלְט֖וּ	mālaṭ	ma-LAHT
into the land	אֶ֣רֶץ	ʾereṣ	eh-RETS
of Armenia:	אֲרָרָ֑ט	ʾărāraṭ	uh-ra-RAHT
reigned in his stead.	וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ	mālak	ma-LAHK
	אֵֽסַר
and Esar-haddon	חַדֹּ֥ן	ʾēsar ḥaddôn	ay-SAHR ha-DONE
his son	בְּנ֖וֹ	bēn	bane
	תַּחְתָּֽיו׃	taḥat	ta-HAHT
