ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਨੇ ਖੇਤ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹ ਕੇ ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਅੰਗੂਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੇਲਾਂ ਓੱਥੇ ਬੀਜੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਖੇਤ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚਕਾਰ ਇੱਕ ਮੁਨਾਰਾ ਉਸਾਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਚੁਬੱਚਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਸ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇੱਥੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਅੰਗੂਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਪਰ ਇੱਥੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਖਰਾਬ ਅੰਗੂਰ ਸਨ।

And he fenced	וַֽיְעַזְּקֵ֣הוּ	ʿāzaq	ah-ZAHK
it, and gathered out the stones	וַֽיְסַקְּלֵ֗הוּ	sāqal	sa-KAHL
thereof, and planted	וַיִּטָּעֵ֙הוּ֙	nāṭaʿ	na-TA
it with the choicest vine,	שֹׂרֵ֔ק	śōrēq	soh-RAKE
and built	וַיִּ֤בֶן	bānâ	ba-NA
a tower	מִגְדָּל֙	migdāl	meeɡ-DAHL
in the midst	בְּתוֹכ֔וֹ	tāwek	ta-VEK
of it, and also	וְגַם	gam	ɡahm
a winepress	יֶ֖קֶב	yeqeb	yeh-KEV
made	חָצֵ֣ב	ḥāṣab	ha-TSAHV
	בּ֑וֹ
therein: and he looked	וַיְקַ֛ו	qāwâ	ka-VA
that it should bring forth	לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת	ʿāśâ	ah-SA
grapes,	עֲנָבִ֖ים	ʿēnāb	ay-NAHV
and it brought forth	וַיַּ֥עַשׂ	ʿāśâ	ah-SA
wild grapes.	בְּאֻשִֽׁים׃	bĕʾušîm	beh-oo-SHEEM
