ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ, ਯਾਕੂਬ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਦਾ, ਇਸਹਾਕ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਤਾਰਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਰਹ ਨਹੋਰ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ।

“ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਕਰਾਰ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਮੁੰਡਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ, ਅੱਠਵੇਂ ਦਿਨ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸਹਾਕ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅੱਗੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਇਹ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਵਜ਼ ਬਣੇ।
