Nehemiah 2:17
ਫ਼ਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੇਖ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਇੱਥੇ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਂ। ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਉੱਜੜ ਕੇ ਖੰਡਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇਸਦੇ ਫਾਟਕ ਅੱਗ ’ਚ ਝੁਲਸ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਚਲੋ ਆਪਾਂ ਮੁੜ ਤੋਂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਉਸਾਰੀਏ, ਫਿਰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਸ਼ਰਮਸਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ।”

| that | אֲשֶׁ֣ר | ʾăšer | uh-SHER |
| we | אֲנַ֣חְנוּ | ʾănaḥnû | uh-NAHK-noo |
| are in, how | בָ֔הּ | bāh | va |
| Jerusalem | אֲשֶׁ֤ר | ʾăšer | uh-SHER |
| waste, lieth | יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ | yĕrûšālaim | yeh-roo-sha-la-EEM |
| and the gates | חֲרֵבָ֔ה | ḥărēbâ | huh-ray-VA |
| burned are thereof | וּשְׁעָרֶ֖יהָ | ûšĕʿārêhā | oo-sheh-ah-RAY-ha |
| with fire: | נִצְּת֣וּ | niṣṣĕtû | nee-tseh-TOO |
| come, | בָאֵ֑שׁ | bāʾēš | va-AYSH |
| up build us let and | לְכ֗וּ | lĕkû | leh-HOO |
| וְנִבְנֶה֙ | wĕnibneh | veh-neev-NEH | |
| wall the | אֶת | ʾet | et |
| of Jerusalem, | חוֹמַ֣ת | ḥômat | hoh-MAHT |
| be we that | יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֔ם | yĕrûšālaim | yeh-roo-sha-la-EEM |
| no | וְלֹֽא | wĕlōʾ | veh-LOH |
| more | נִהְיֶ֥ה | nihye | nee-YEH |
