Nehemiah 5:2
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੋ ਕਈਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਅਸੀਂ, ਸਾਡੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਹਨ, ਸੋ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਖਾਣ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਕੁਝ ਅਨਾਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ।”

| said, | אֹֽמְרִ֔ים | ʾōmĕrîm | oh-meh-REEM |
| We, | בָּנֵ֥ינוּ | bānênû | ba-NAY-noo |
| sons, our | וּבְנֹתֵ֖ינוּ | ûbĕnōtênû | oo-veh-noh-TAY-noo |
| and our daughters, | אֲנַ֣חְנוּ | ʾănaḥnû | uh-NAHK-noo |
| are many: | רַבִּ֑ים | rabbîm | ra-BEEM |
| up take we therefore | וְנִקְחָ֥ה | wĕniqḥâ | veh-neek-HA |
| corn | דָגָ֖ן | dāgān | da-ɡAHN |
| eat, may we that them, for | וְנֹֽאכְלָ֥ה | wĕnōʾkĕlâ | veh-noh-heh-LA |
| and live. | וְנִֽחְיֶֽה׃ | wĕniḥĕye | veh-NEE-heh-YEH |
