ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਮਾਰੂਥਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮਿਸਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਏ ਹੋ? ਇੱਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਰੋਟੀ, ਕੋਈ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਭੋਜਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ!”

Exodus 17:2
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲੋਕ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਝਗੜਨ ਲੱਗੇ। ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪੀਣ ਲਈ ਪਾਣੀ ਦਿਉ।” ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਕਿਉਂ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹੋ? ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਪਰੱਖ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ? ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ?”
Exodus 16:31
ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਖਾਸ ਭੋਜਨ ਨੂੰ “ਮੰਨ” ਆਖਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਮੰਨ ਧਣੀਏ ਦੇ ਛੋਟੇ ਸਫ਼ੇਦ ਬੀਜਾਂ ਵਰਗਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਨਾਲ ਬਣੇ ਕੇਕ ਵਰਗਾ ਸੀ।
Exodus 16:15
ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਣ ਲੱਗੇ, “ਇਹ ਕੀ ਹੈ? ” ਉਹ ਇਹ ਸਵਾਲ ਪੁੱਛ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕੀ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਹੀ ਉਹ ਭੋਜਨ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਖਾਣ ਲਈ ਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
Exodus 16:7
ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੁਣ ਲਈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੱਲ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਪਰਤਾਪ ਦੇਖੋਂਗੇ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤਾਂ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ। ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਹੁਣ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੁਝ ਅਰਾਮ ਕਰ ਸੱਕੋਂ।”

ਤਾਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਾਰੂਥਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੂਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਅੱਗੇ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
