1 These also are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the LORD spake with Moses in mount Sinai.ਹਾਰੂਨ ਦਾ ਜਾਜਕ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਇਹ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨਾਲ ਸੀਨਈ ਪਰਬਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ।

2 And these are the names of the sons of Aaron; Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.ਹਾਰੂਨ ਦੇ ਚਾਰ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਨ। ਪਹਿਲੋਠਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨਾਦਾਬ ਸੀ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਅਬੀਹੂ, ਅਲਆਜ਼ਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਈਥਾਮਾਰ ਸਨ।

3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests which were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest's office.ਇਹ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਚੁਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਜਾਜਕ ਸਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਖਾਸ ਕੰਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।

4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD, when they offered strange fire before the LORD, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest's office in the sight of Aaron their father.ਪਰ ਨਾਦਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਅਬੀਹੂ ਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਦੇਹਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਰਜਿਤ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਭੇਟ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਨ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਲਆਜ਼ਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਈਥਾਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਲੈ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਉਦੋਂ ਵਾਪਰੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹਾਰੂਨ, ਹਾਲੇ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ।

5 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਹਾਇਕ-ਲੇਵੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ,

6 Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.“ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਜਕ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਕੋਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆ। ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਦੇ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਹੋਣਗੇ।

7 And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.ਲੇਵੀ ਉਦੋਂ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਮੰਡਲੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਤੰਬੂ ਵਿਖੇ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਉਣਗੇ।

8 And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਡਲੀ ਦੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਵਿੱਚਲੀਆ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ; ਇਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਫ਼ਰਜ਼ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਲੇਵੀ ਇਨ੍ਹਾ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ-ਭਾਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਤੰਬੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨਗੇ।

9 And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel.“ਤੂੰ ਲੇਵੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ। ਲੇਵੀਆ ਨੂੰ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।

10 And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest's office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.“ਹਾਰੂਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਜਕ ਥਾਪੋ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਫ਼ਰਜ਼ ਅਵੱਸ਼ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵੀ ਬੰਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਆਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਵੱਸ਼ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।”

11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ:

12 And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn that openeth the matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine;“ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ, ਆਪਣਾ ਪਹਿਲੋਠਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਟ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨੇ ਪੈਣਗੇ।

13 Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the LORD.ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਿਸਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ, ਮੈਂ ਮਿਸਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪਨਾ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ। ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਅਤੇ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਜਾਨਵਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਨ ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਬੱਚਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਲੇਵੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਹਾਂ।”

14 And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਸੀਨਈ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੂਥਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ,

15 Number the children of Levi after the house of their fathers, by their families: every male from a month old and upward shalt thou number them.“ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਕਰ। ਹਰੇਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਜਾਂ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਕਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦਾ ਜਾਂ ਇਸਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇਰਾ ਹੈ।”

16 And Moses numbered them according to the word of the LORD, as he was commanded.ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ।

17 And these were the sons of Levi by their names; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari.ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਨ: ਗੇਰਸ਼ੋਨ, ਕਾਹਥ, ਅਤੇ ਮਰਾਰੀ।

18 And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families; Libni, and Shimei.ਹਰੇਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਕਈ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾ ਦਾ ਆਗੂ ਸੀ। ਗੇਰਸ਼ੋਨ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਸਨ: ਲਿਬਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਮਈ।

19 And the sons of Kohath by their families; Amram, and Izehar, Hebron, and Uzziel.ਕਹਾਥ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਸਨ: ਅਮਰਾਮ, ਯਿਸਹਾਰ, ਹਬਰੋਨ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਜ਼ੀਏਲ।

20 And the sons of Merari by their families; Mahli, and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to the house of their fathers.ਮਰਾਰੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਸਨ: ਮਹਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੂਸ਼ੀ। ਇਹ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਸਨ।

21 Of Gershon was the family of the Libnites, and the family of the Shimites: these are the families of the Gershonites.ਲਿਬਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਗੇਰਸ਼ੋਨ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਗੇਰਸ਼ੋਨ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਸਨ।

22 Those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, even those that were numbered of them were seven thousand and five hundred.ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾ ਵਿੱਚ 7,500 ਆਦਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਸਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਜਾਂ ਇਸਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਸਨ।

23 The families of the Gershonites shall pitch behind the tabernacle westward.ਗੇਰਸ਼ੋਨੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਛਮ ਵੱਲ ਡੇਰਾ ਲਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਤੰਬੂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲਾਇਆ।

24 And the chief of the house of the father of the Gershonites shall be Eliasaph the son of Lael.ਗੇਰਸ਼ੋਨੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾ ਦਾ ਆਗੂ ਲਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਲਯਾਸਾਫ਼ ਸੀ।

25 And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation shall be the tabernacle, and the tent, the covering thereof, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,ਮੰਡਲੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਵਿੱਚ, ਗੇਰਸ਼ੋਨੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ, ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਤੰਬੂ, ਬਾਹਰਲੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਪਰਦੇ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ-ਭਾਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਮੰਡਲੀ ਦੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਦੇ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ-ਭਾਲ ਵੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ।

26 And the hangings of the court, and the curtain for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle, and by the altar round about, and the cords of it for all the service thereof.ਉਹ ਵਿਹੜੇ ਦੇ ਪਰਦੇ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ-ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਵਿਹੜੇ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਦੇ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ-ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਇਹ ਵਿਹੜਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਤੰਬੂ ਅਤੇ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਸਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਉਸ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ-ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਪਰਦਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਵਰਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ।

27 And of Kohath was the family of the Amramites, and the family of the Izeharites, and the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites: these are the families of the Kohathites.ਅਮਰਾਮ, ਯਿਸਾਹਾਰ, ਹਬਰੋਨ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਜ਼ੀਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਕਹਾਥ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਕਹਾਥੀ ਪਰਿਵਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਨ।

28 In the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were eight thousand and six hundred, keeping the charge of the sanctuary.ਇਸ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚ 8,300 ਇੱਕ ਸਾਲ ਜਾਂ ਇਸਤੋਂ ਵਡੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਸਨ। ਕਹਾਥੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸਥਾਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਭ-ਸੰਭਾਲ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਸੌਂਪਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।

29 The families of the sons of Kohath shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle southward.ਕਹਾਥੀ ਲੋਕ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਤੰਬੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਡੇਰਾ ਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ।

30 And the chief of the house of the father of the families of the Kohathites shall be Elizaphan the son of Uzziel.ਕਹਾਥੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਗੂ ਉੱਜ਼ੀਏਲ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਲੀਸਾਫ਼ਾਨ ਸੀ।

31 And their charge shall be the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary wherewith they minister, and the hanging, and all the service thereof.ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ, ਮੇਜ਼, ਸ਼ਮਾਦਾਨ, ਜਗਵੇਦੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸਥਾਨ ਦੀਆ ਪਲੇਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਭ-ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਪਰਦਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਰਤੀਆ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਭ-ਸੰਭਾਲ ਵੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ।

32 And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be chief over the chief of the Levites, and have the oversight of them that keep the charge of the sanctuary.ਲੇਵੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆ ਦਾ ਆਗੂ ਜਾਜਕ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਲਆਜ਼ਾਰ ਸੀ। ਅਲਆਜ਼ਾਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁਖੀਆ ਸੀ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਚੀਜ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਭ-ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ।

33 Of Merari was the family of the Mahlites, and the family of the Mushites: these are the families of Merari.ਮਹਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੂਸ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਮਰਾਰੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਸਨ। ਮਹਲੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚ 6,200 ਆਦਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਜਾਂ ਵਡੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਸਨ।

34 And those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were six thousand and two hundred.

35 And the chief of the house of the father of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail: these shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle northward.ਮਰਾਰੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦਾ ਆਗੂ ਅਬੀਹਾਯਿਲ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੂਰੀਏਲ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਤੰਬੂ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਡੇਰਾ ਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੀ।

36 And under the custody and charge of the sons of Merari shall be the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof, and all the vessels thereof, and all that serveth thereto,ਮਰਾਰੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਤੰਬੂ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਰੇਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਭ-ਸੰਭਾਲ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਬਰੇਸਾ, ਥੜਿਆ ਥੰਮੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਹਰ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਭ-ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਤੰਬੂ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਰੇਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਵਰਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ।

37 And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords.ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਤੰਬੂ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਹੜੇ ਵਿੱਚਲੀਆਂ ਥੰਮੀਆ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ-ਭਾਲ ਵੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਰੇ ਥੜੇ, ਤੰਬੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿੱਲੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਰੱਸੇ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਸਨ।

38 But those that encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward, shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.ਮੂਸਾ, ਹਾਰੂਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾ ਨੇ ਮੰਡਲੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਤੰਬੂ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਬ ਵੱਲ ਡੇਰਾ ਲਾਇਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸਥਾਨ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਭ-ਸੰਭਾਲ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਸੌਂਪਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ। ਹੋਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸਥਾਨ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਸੀ।

39 All that were numbered of the Levites, which Moses and Aaron numbered at the commandment of the LORD, throughout their families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty and two thousand.ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਜਾਂ ਇਸਤੋਂ ਵਡੇਰੇ ਮੁੰਡਿਆ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਕਰਨ। ਕੁੱਲ ਗਿਣਤੀ 22,000 ਸੀ।

40 And the LORD said unto Moses, Number all the firstborn of the males of the children of Israel from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names.ਲੇਵੀ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾ ਦਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਆਦਮੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁੰਡਿਆ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਕਰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਘੱਟੋ-ਘੱਟ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਇੱਕ ਸੂਚੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖ।

41 And thou shalt take the Levites for me (I am the LORD) instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel; and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstlings among the cattle of the children of Israel.ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੰਡਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਲੈਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਇ, ਮੈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਜਾਨਵਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਇ ਲੇਵੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਜਾਨਵਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਲਵਾਗਾ।”

42 And Moses numbered, as the LORD commanded him, all the firstborn among the children of Israel.ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ। ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਇਸਆਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ।

43 And all the firstborn males by the number of names, from a month old and upward, of those that were numbered of them, were twenty and two thousand two hundred and threescore and thirteen.ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਆਦਮੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਲ ਜਾਂ ਇਸਤੋਂ ਵਡੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਮੁੰਡਿਆ ਦੀ ਸੂਚੀ ਬਣਾਈ। ਇਸ ਸੂਚੀ ਵਿੱਚ 22,273 ਨਾਮ ਸਨ।

44 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਿਆ,

45 Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the LORD.“ਮੈਂ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਇਹ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ: ‘ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਆਦਮੀਆ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਇ ਲੇਵੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ। ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਾਨਵਰਾ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਇ ਲੇਵੀਆ ਦੇ ਜਾਨਵਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਲਵਾਗਾ। ਲੇਵੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਨ।

46 And for those that are to be redeemed of the two hundred and threescore and thirteen of the firstborn of the children of Israel, which are more than the Levites;ਲੇਵੀ 22,000 ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ 22,273 ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਲੇਵੀਆ ਨਾਲੋਂ 273 ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਬੱਚਦੇ ਹਨ।

47 Thou shalt even take five shekels apiece by the poll, after the shekel of the sanctuary shalt thou take them: (the shekel is twenty gerahs:)ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਮਾਪ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਵਾਧੂ 273 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ 5 ਸ਼ੈਕਲ (ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ੈਕਲ 20 ਗੇਰਾਹ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਹੈ) ਜਮ੍ਹਾ ਕਰ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਉਹ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰ।

48 And thou shalt give the money, wherewith the odd number of them is to be redeemed, unto Aaron and to his sons.ਉਹ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ। ਇਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ 273 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਅਦਾਇਗੀ ਕਰ।’”

49 And Moses took the redemption money of them that were over and above them that were redeemed by the Levites:ਉੱਥੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾ ਦੇ 273 ਆਦਮੀਆ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਲੇਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ 273 ਆਦਮੀਆ ਲਈ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕੀਤੀ।

50 Of the firstborn of the children of Israel took he the money; a thousand three hundred and threescore and five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary:ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਮਾਪ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ 1,365 ਸ਼ੈਕਲ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕੀਤੀ।

51 And Moses gave the money of them that were redeemed unto Aaron and to his sons, according to the word of the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moses.ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਿਆ। ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
