ਦਾਊਦ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ ਸੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬਏਰਸ਼ਬਾ ਤੀਕ ਲੰਘ ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਕਰ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਚੱਲੇ ਕਿ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਹੈ?”

ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨ ਵਿੱਚਕਾਰ ਲੜਾਈ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਉਹ ਮਸਫ਼ਾਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਆਕੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁੱਖ ਖਲੋ ਗਏ। ਲੋਕ ਦਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬਏਰਸ਼ਬਾ (ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਆਏ। ਗਿਲਆਦ ਦੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਲੋਕ ਵੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਸਨ।

ਦਾਊਦ ਦੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਯੁਕਤੀ ਯੋਆਬ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਦਾ ਕਪਤਾਨ ਬਣਿਆ। ਯੋਨਾਦਾਬ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਨਾਯਾਹ ਕਰੇਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਲੇਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਆਗੂ ਬਣਿਆ।
੨ ਕੁਰਿੰਥੀਆਂ 12:7
ਪਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਨੋਖੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ, ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਰਸ਼ਾਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਸਨ, ਬਹੁਤ ਗੁਮਾਨ ਨਾ ਕਰਾਂ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਦਰਦ ਭਰੀ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਇਹ ਸੀ; ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੁੱਟਣ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਮਾਨ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਾਂ।
ਯਰਮਿਆਹ 17:5
ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ, ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, “ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੁਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਾਪਰਨਗੀਆਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਨੇ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੁਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਾਪਰਨਗੀਆਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਲਈ, ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਨੇ। ਕਿਉਂ? ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਮਸਾਲ 29:23
ਘਮੰਡ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੁਨਿਆਦ ਤੋਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਲੈ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਹਲਕਾਰੇ ਭੇਜੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਲਕਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਅਜਬ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਪੁੱਛ-ਗਿੱਛ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ ਸੀ। ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਏ ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਤਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਇੱਕਲਿਆਂ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਪਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀ ਹੈ?

ਪਰ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਰਹਿਮ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਉੱਪਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਕੰਮ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸੀ ਕਾਰਣ ਉਸ ਉੱਪਰ, ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਉੱਪਰ ਕਹਿਰ ਭੜਕਿਆ ਸੀ।
੧ ਤਵਾਰੀਖ਼ 21:2
ਤਾਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਯੋਆਬ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਜਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਬਏਰਸ਼ਬਾ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਦਾਨ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੀਕ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਕਰੋ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਆਣ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੋ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਕਿ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਕੁਲ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਹੈ?”

ਸਲਕ ਅੰਮੋਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਹਰਈ ਬਏਰੋਥੀ ਜੋ ਸਰੂਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਆਬ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਸਤਰ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ।

“ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹੀ ਸੁਝਾਅ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬਏਰਸ਼ਬਾ ਤੀਕ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਕਰੋ। ਤਦ ਉੱਥੇ ਇੰਨੇ ਲੋਕ ਹੋਣ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਕੰਢੇ ਰੇਤ। ਤਦ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਲੜਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਉੱਤਰੋ।

ਸਰੂਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਆਬ ਉਸਦੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਦਾ ਕਪਤਾਨ ਬਣਿਆ। ਅਤੇ ਅਹੀਲੂਦ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯਹੋਸਾਫ਼ਾਟ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕਾਰ ਸੀ।

ਸਰੂਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਆਬ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨਿਕਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਬਓਨ ਦੇ ਤਲਾਬ ਕੋਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਉੱਥੇ ਬੈਠ ਗਏ। ਇੱਕ ਟੋਲੀ ਤਲਾਬ ਦੇ ਉਰਲੇ ਬੰਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜੀ ਤਲਾਬ ਦੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਬੰਨੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਬੈਠ ਗਈ।
ਅਸਤਸਨਾ 8:13
ਤੁਹਾਡੀਆਂ ਗਾਵਾਂ, ਭੇਡਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੱਕਰੀਆਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਧਣ ਫ਼ੁੱਲਣਗੀਆਂ। ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਸੋਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ। ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦੀ ਕਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ!
