ਨਹਮਿਆਹ 13
1 ਨਹਮਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਅਖੀਰੀ ਹੁਕਮ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ, ਮੂਸਾ ਦੀ ਪੋਥੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਕੇ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ: ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਅੰਮੋਨੀ ਜਾਂ ਮੋਆਬੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਸਭਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ।
2 ਇਹ ਬਿਵਸਬਾ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲਿਖੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੋਜਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸਗੋਂ ਬਿਲਆਮ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਾਪਣ ਲਈ ਕੀਮਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਪਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਰਾਪ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਅਸੀਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
3 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਬਿਵਸਬਾ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਿਆ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਤੋਂ ਅਲੱਗ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
4 ਪਰ ਇਸਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, ਟੋਬੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕੀ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਅਲਯਾਸ਼ੀਬ ਜਾਜਕ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਗੋਦਾਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਇੰਚਾਰਜ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਕਮਰਾ ਬਣਵਾਇਆ। ਇਸ ਕਮਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟਾ ਦੀ ਸਮੱਗ੍ਰਰੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨਾਜ ਦੀ ਭੇਟ, ਧੂਫ਼, ਭਾਂਡੇ, ਅਨਾਜ ਦਾ ਦਸਵੰਧ, ਨਵੀਂ ਮੈਅ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਲ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਬਿਧੀ ਦੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ, ਗਵਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਦਰਬਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਂਟਾ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਕਮਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖੀਆਂ, ਪਰ ਅਲਯਾਸ਼ੀਬ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਕਮਰਾ ਟੋਬੀਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
5 ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ ਮੈਂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਮੈਂ ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਮੈਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਅਰਤਹਸ਼ਸ਼ਤਾ ਦੇ ਬਤ੍ਤੀਵੇਂ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਾਬਲ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਵਾਪਸ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਮੰਗੀ।
6 ਇਉਂ ਮੈਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਤ ਆਇਆ। ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਲਯਾਸ਼ੀਬ ਦੇ ਮਾੜੇ ਕੰਮ ਬਾਰੇ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਟੋਬੀਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਹੜੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਮਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।
7 ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬੜਾ ਕਰੋਧ ਆਇਆ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਟੋਬੀਯਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਕਮਰੇ ‘ਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ।
8 ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਮਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ, ਅਨਾਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਧੂਪ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਲੈ ਆਇਆ।
9 ਫ਼ਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਿ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲੇਵੀ ਅਤੇ ਗਵਈਏ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ, ਮੁੜ ਆਪਣੇ ਖੇਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਲੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ।
10 ਫ਼ੇਰ ਮੈਂ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਕਾਰਣ ਝਿੜਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਬੇਅਦਬੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ?” ਫ਼ਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਡਿਊਟੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਤੇ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
11 ਤਦ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਦੇ ਅਨਾਜ ਦਾ ਦਸਵੰਧ, ਨਵੀਂ ਮੈਅ ਤੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਲ਼ਈ ਤੇਲ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ। ਅਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੋਦਾਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
12 ਮੈਂ ਸ਼ਲਮਯਾਹ ਜਾਜਕ, ਸਾਦੋਕ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਪਦਾਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਖਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਖਜਾਨਚੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੇਠ ਮੱਤਨਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੋਤਰੇ, ਜ਼ਕੂਰ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹਾਨਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਵਜੋਂ ਮਂਨੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡਣ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੀ।
13 ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਮੈਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖੀ।
14 ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ, ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਵੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਗੂਰਾਂ ਚੋ ਦਾਖ ਕੱਢਦਿਆਂ ਵੀ ਵੇਖਿਆ। ਮੈਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਨਾਜ ਲਿਆਕੇ ਖੋਤਿਆਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਲਦ੍ਦਦਿਆਂ ਵੀ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਅ, ਅੰਗੂਰ, ਅੰਜੀਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਜਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਵੀ ਵੇਖਿਆ। ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਖਬਰਦਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਨੋ ਵਰਜਿਆ।
15 ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਸੂਰ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਵੀ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਸਬਤ ਤੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੱਛੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਕਈ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਲਿਆਏ।
16 ਮੈਂ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸੱਜਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਝਿੜਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਬਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਬਤ ਦੀ ਮਹਾਨਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਕੇ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਮ ਦਿਨ ਵਾਂਗ ਬਣਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਂ।
17 ਕੀ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਇੰਝ ਹੀ ਵਿਖਾਵਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ? ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਉੱਪਰ ਤਕਲੀਫ਼ਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਰੋਪੀ ਲਿਆਂਦੀ ਸੀ। ਹੁਣ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਬਤ ਦਾ ਅਪਮਾਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਵੱਧਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ।”
18 ਇਹ ਕੁਝ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਕੀਤਾ: ਹਰ ਸ਼ੁਕਰਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਾਮ, ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਦਰਬਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਾਟਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਦ ਕਰਕੇ ਜੰਦਰੇ ਲਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਤੇ ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਖਤਮ ਹੋਣ ਤੀਕ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਣ ਦਾ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੁਝ ਖਾਸ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਾਟਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਬਿਠਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਭਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾ ਲਿਆਵੇ।
19 ਇੱਕ ਦੋ ਵਾਰੀ ਕੁਝ ਵਪਾਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੌਦਾਗਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਰਾਤ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੀ।
20 ੜਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਬਰਦਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਰਾਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੰਧ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਆਵਾਸ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਂ? ਜੇਕਰ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਵੇਂ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਤਾਕਤ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।” ਇਉਂ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਮੁੜ ਕਦੀ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਵੇਚਣ ਨਾ ਆਏ।
21 ਫ਼ਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਾਟਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਸਬਤ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਦਿਨ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਜੋਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ! ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖ, ਮੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਦਯਾ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਹਾਨ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰੀ ਵਰਸਾ।
22 ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਕੁਝ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਅਸ਼ਦੋਦੀ, ਅੰਮੋਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਆਬੀ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਵਾ ਲੇ ਸਨ।
23 ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਆਹਾਂ ਚੋ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਅਧਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਬੋਲੀ ਬੋਲਣੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਆਉਂਦੀ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਅਸ਼ਦੋਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਖੋ-ਵੱਖ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਬੋਲੀ।
24 ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਗਲਤ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਾਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੱਢੀਆਂ। ਕਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਕੁਟਿਆ ਵ੍ਵੀ ਤੇ ਕਈਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਲ ਵੀ ਪੁੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੌਂਹ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ। ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁੰਡਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਨਾ ਦਿਓ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਨਾ ਕਰਿਓ।
25 ਕੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ, ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਕਾਰਣ ਹੀ ਪਾਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ? ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੀ। ਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉੱਪਰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਬਖਸ਼ੀ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ।
26 ਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਸੁਣ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵੀ ਇਹ ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨਾਲ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਵਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ।”
27 ਪਰਧਾਨ ਜਾਜਕ ਅਲਯਾਸ਼ੀਬ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਯਾਦਆ ਸੀ। ਯੋਯਾਦਆ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰੋਨੀ ਦੇ ਸਨਬੱਲਟ ਦਾ ਜਵਾਈ ਸੀ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਭਜਾਅ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
28 ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ! ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਦੇ ਰੁਤਬੇ ਨੂੰ ਭਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕੋਈ ਖੇਡ ਹੋਵੇ। ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵਚਨ ਤੂੰ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
29 ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਬਣਾਇਆ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਰਜਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਂਮੇਦਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਕੰਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
30 ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਯਮਿਤ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੇ ਲੱਕੜ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਵਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਫ਼ਲਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਨੇਕੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖੀਂ।
1 On that day they read in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not come into the congregation of God for ever;
2 Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: howbeit our God turned the curse into a blessing.
3 Now it came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude.
4 And before this, Eliashib the priest, having the oversight of the chamber of the house of our God, was allied unto Tobiah:
5 And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where aforetime they laid the meat offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests.
6 But in all this time was not I at Jerusalem: for in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon came I unto the king, and after certain days obtained I leave of the king:
7 And I came to Jerusalem, and understood of the evil that Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God.
8 And it grieved me sore: therefore I cast forth all the household stuff of Tobiah out of the chamber.
9 Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: and thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the meat offering and the frankincense.
10 And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them: for the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field.
11 Then contended I with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place.
12 Then brought all Judah the tithe of the corn and the new wine and the oil unto the treasuries.
13 And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah: for they were counted faithful, and their office was to distribute unto their brethren.
14 Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and wipe not out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for the offices thereof.
15 In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals.
16 There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.
17 Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day?
18 Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath.
19 And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day.
20 So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged without Jerusalem once or twice.
21 Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the sabbath.
22 And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.
23 In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:
24 And their children spake half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each people.
25 And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves.
26 Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.
27 Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God in marrying strange wives?
28 And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me.
29 Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.
30 Thus cleansed I them from all strangers, and appointed the wards of the priests and the Levites, every one in his business;
31 And for the wood offering, at times appointed, and for the firstfruits. Remember me, O my God, for good.
Jeremiah 13 in Tamil and English
1 ਲੰਗੋਟੀ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਇਹੀ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ, “ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਜਾਹ ਜਾਕੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਦੀ ਲੰਗੋਟੀ ਖਰੀਦ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੱਕ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਲਪੇਟ। ਲੰਗੋਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਭਿੱਜਣ ਨਾ ਦੇਵੀਂ।”
Thus saith the Lord unto me, Go and get thee a linen girdle, and put it upon thy loins, and put it not in water.
2 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਕਪੜੇ ਦੀ ਲੰਗੋਟੀ ਖਰੀਦੀ ਜਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਖਰੀਦਣ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੱਕ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਲਪੇਟ ਲਿਆ।
So I got a girdle according to the word of the Lord, and put it on my loins.
3 ਫ਼ੇਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਦੋਬਾਰਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ।
And the word of the Lord came unto me the second time, saying,
4 ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਇਹ ਸੀ: “ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਉਹ ਲੰਗੋਟੀ ਲੈ ਜਾ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਖਰੀਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਹਿਨੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਫਰਾਤ ਵੱਲ ਜਾਹ। ਓੱਥੇ ਚੱਟਾਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਤ੍ਰੇੜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੰਗੋਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਪਾ ਦੇਵੀਂ।”
Take the girdle that thou hast got, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.
5 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਫਰਾਤ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਮੈਂ ਲੰਗੋਟੀ ਛੁਪਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
So I went, and hid it by Euphrates, as the Lord commanded me.
6 ਕਈ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਮਗਰੋਂ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੁਣ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ, ਫਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਹ। ਉਸ ਲੰਗੋਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਓੱਥੇ ਛੁਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ।”
And it came to pass after many days, that the Lord said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded thee to hide there.
7 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਫਰਾਤ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਲੰਗੋਟੀ ਕੱਢ ਲਈ। ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਟਾਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤ੍ਰੇੜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੁਪਾਇਆ ਸੀ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆ। ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਲੰਗੋਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਸਾਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
Then I went to Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing.
8 ਫ਼ੇਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਮਿਲਿਆ।
Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
9 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਲੰਗੋਟੀ ਖਰਾਬ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ, ਮੈਂ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਝੂਠਾ ਘੁਮੰਡ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।
Thus saith the Lord, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.
10 ਮੈਂ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਮਾਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਜ਼ਿੱਦੀ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਮਨ ਆਈਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਯਾਈ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਇਸ ਕਪੜੇ ਦੀ ਲੰਗੋਟੀ ਵਰਗੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਉਹ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਕੰਮ ਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ।
This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.
11 ਬੰਦਾ ਲੰਗੋਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੱਕ ਨਾਲ ਕਸੱਕੇ ਬਂਨ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ। ਓਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਕਸ ਕੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਸੀ।” ਇਹ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੈ। “ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਬਣਨ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧੀ, ਉਸਤਤ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਬਨਣਗੇ। ਪਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣੀ।”
For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the Lord; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.
12 ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤਾਵਨੀਆਂ “ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ, ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ: ‘ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਮਸ਼ਕ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੀ ਹੋਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।’ ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਹੱਸਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਣਗੇ, ‘ਬੇਸ਼ਕ, ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਹਰ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਦੀ ਮਸ਼ਕ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੀ ਹੋਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ’
Therefore thou shalt speak unto them this word; Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall say unto thee, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?
13 ਫ਼ੇਰ ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖੇਂਗਾ, ‘ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ: ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਾਬੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਤਖਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਨ। ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ, ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਆਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।
Then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit upon David’s throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.
14 ਮੈਂ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਜ੍ਜ ਕੇ ਡਿੱਗਣ ਲਾ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਪਿਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨਾਲ ਟਕਰਾ ਕੇ ਡਿਗ ਪੈਣਗੇ।’ ਇਹ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੈ ‘ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਤਰਸ ਜਾਂ ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਹਿਮ ਕਾਰਣ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਟਾਂਗਾ।’”
And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the Lord: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.
15 ਸੁਣੋ ਅਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਕਰੋ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਗੁਮਾਨੀ ਨਾ ਬਣੋ।
Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the Lord hath spoken.
16 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਕਰੋ। ਉਸਦੀ ਉਸਤਤ ਕਰੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਪਾ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ। ਇਸਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਹਾੜੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਵੋਁ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਖਲੋਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਦਾ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ, ਉਸਦੀ ਉਸਤਤ ਕਰੋ। ਪਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਲਿਆਵੇਗਾ। ਉਹ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਗੂੜੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬਦਲ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।
Give glory to the Lord your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.
17 ਜੇ ਤੁਸਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਾ ਸੁਣੀਁ, ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਗੁਮਾਨ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਉਦਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੁਖ ਛੁਪਾ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਾਰੋ-ਜ਼ਾਰ ਰੋਵਾਂਗਾ। ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੰਝੂ ਵਗ ਤੁਰਨਗੇ। ਕਿਉਂ? ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਇੱਜੜ ਫ਼ਾਹ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਦੂਰ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the Lord’s flock is carried away captive.
18 ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਰਾਜੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੋ, “ਆਪਣੇ ਤਖਤਾਂ ਉੱਪਰੋਂ ਉਤਰ ਆਵੋ। ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤ ਤਾਜ਼, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਿਰਾਂ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਏ ਨੇ।”
Say unto the king and to the queen, Humble yourselves, sit down: for your principalities shall come down, even the crown of your glory.
19 ਨਜ਼ੀਬ ਮਾਰੂਬਲ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਬੰਦ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਸੱਕਦਾ। ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ਼-ਨਿਕਾਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
The cities of the south shall be shut up, and none shall open them: Judah shall be carried away captive all of it, it shall be wholly carried away captive.
20 ਦੇਖ, ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ! ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਉੱਤਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ! ਤੇਰਾ ਇੱਜੜ ਕਿੱਥੋ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਇੱਜੜ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪਿਆ ਸੀ।
Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?
21 ਤੂੰ ਕੀ ਆਖੇਂਗਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਣਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਔਰਤ ਵਾਂਗ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰਾ ਦਰਦ ਆਵੇਗਾ।
What wilt thou say when he shall punish thee? for thou hast taught them to be captains, and as chief over thee: shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in travail?
22 ਭਾਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਤੋਂ ਪੁੱਛੇਂ, “ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਮੰਦੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਵਾਪਰੀ ਹੈ?” ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਕਾਰਣ ਵਾਪਰੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਕਾਰਣ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਘੱਗਰੀ ਪਾਟ ਗਈ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਜੁੱਤੀਆਂ ਖੋਹ ਲਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।
And if thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts discovered, and thy heels made bare.
23 ਕਾਲਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਚਮੜੀ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਦਲ ਸੱਕਦਾ। ਅਤੇ ਚੀਤਾ, ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਦਲ ਸੱਕਦਾ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ, ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ, ਤੂੰ ਬਦਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਨੇਕੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ। ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਮੰਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਸਿੱਖਾਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.
24 “ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰੋ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਤੂੰ ਚਾਰ-ਚੁਫ਼ੇਰੇ ਭੱਜੇਂਗਾ। ਤੂੰ ਮਾਰੂਬਲ ਦੀ ਹਵਾ ਦੇ ਉਡਾਏ ਤਿਨਕਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ।
Therefore will I scatter them as the stubble that passeth away by the wind of the wilderness.
25 ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਪਰੇਗਾ। ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਯੋਜਨਾਵਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੈ।” ਇਹ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੀ। “ਇਹ ਕਿਉਂ ਵਾਪਰੇਗਾ? ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਲ ਗਿਆ ਸੈਂ। ਤੂੰ ਝੂਠੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
This is thy lot, the portion of thy measures from me, saith the Lord; because thou hast forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.
26 ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਘੱਗਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਿਹਰੇ ਤੀਕ ਉੱਚੀ ਚੁੱਕ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੇਖੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਮਸਾਰ ਹੋਵੇਂਗੀ।
Therefore will I discover thy skirts upon thy face, that thy shame may appear.
27 ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਕਾਰੇ ਦੇਖੇ ਸਨ। ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੱਸੱਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਭੋਗ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਸੀ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਵੇਸਵਾ ਬਣਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਉਂਤਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਹਾੜੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਖੇਤਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ। ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ, ਇਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਬੁਰਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਕੁ ਚਿਰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਪਾਕ ਪਾਪ ਕਰੀ ਜਾਵੇਂਗੀ।”
I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be?
