1 ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਲਈ: ਧੁਨੀ ਨੂੰ “ਉੱਕ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੈਠੀ ਘੁੱਗੀ।” ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਭੱਗਤੀ ਗੀਤ, ਜਦੋਂ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ੜ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ। ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੋ। ਉਹ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
2 ਮੇਰੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਬਾਰ-ਬਾਰ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਹਨ ਉੱਪਰੋਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਹਨ।
3 ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਭੈਭੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਕੀਨ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
4 ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਲੋਕੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਵਾਅਦੇ ਲਈ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
5 ਮੇਰੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੋਂੜਦੇ ਮਰੋੜਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਵਿਉਂਤਾ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
6 ਉਹ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਛੁਪ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਹਰ ਹਰਕਤ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਹ ਉਮੀਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੱਕਣ।
7 ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਾਰਿਆਂ ਕਾਰਣ ਦੂਰ ਭਜਾ ਦਿਉ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਝੱਲਣ ਲਈ ਦੂਰ ਭੇਜ ਦਿਉ।
8 ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੀੜਾ ਵੇਖੀ ਹੈ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ, ਮੈਂ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਰੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੰਝੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
9 ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਦਿਉ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਲਈ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਦਿਆਂ। ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਵੇਂ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹੋਂ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹੋਂ।
10 ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਅਦੇ ਲਈ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਵਾਅਦੇ ਲਈ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
11 ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਕੀਨ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਇਸੇ ਲਈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਡਰਦਾ ਜੋ ਲੋਕੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
12 ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਖਾਸ ਵਾਅਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਹੀ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
13 ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਬਚਾਇਆ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹਾਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ। ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਾਕੀ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਾਂ।

2 Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.
3 Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.
4 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
5 In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
6 Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.
7 They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.
8 Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.
9 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?
10 When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.
11 In God will I praise his word: in the Lord will I praise his word.
12 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.
13 Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.
14 For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

A Psalm of David.
1 ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਗੀਤ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ-ਆਪ ਅਰਪਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
2 ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਕੀਨ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਆਸ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਕਦੀ ਵੀ ਨਿਰਾਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵਾਂਗਾ। ਮੇਰੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੱਸਣਗੇ।
O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.
3 ਉਹ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਕੀਨ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਦੀ ਵੀ ਨਿਰਾਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਪਰ ਗਦਾਰ ਨਾਉਮੀਦ ਹੋਣਗੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ।
Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.
4 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਨਾ ਸਿਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੋ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਤੌਰ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਉ।
Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.
5 ਮੇਰੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰੋ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਾਉ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਮੁਕਤੀਦਾਤਾ ਹੋ। ਮੈਂ ਹਰ ਦਿਨ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
6 ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੋਣਾ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖੋ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ। ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੋਮਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਰਸਾਉ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੈ।
Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.
7 ਮੇਰੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਨਾਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਮੰਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਜਵਾਨ ਸਾਂ। ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਭ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਕਾ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰੋ।
Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O Lord.
8 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਉਣ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਸਿੱਖਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.
9 ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਹੋਕੇ ਨਿਮ੍ਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਢੰਗ ਸਿੱਖਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
10 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਦਯਾਵਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਦਿਆਂ, ਅਤੇ ਕਰਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਸਰਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
11 ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੈਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗਲਤ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਚੰਗਿਆਈ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਮੁਆਫ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।
For thy name’s sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.
12 ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੱਲਣ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਉਣ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਦਿਖਾਵੇਗਾ।
What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
13 ਉਹ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ, ਜਿਸਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।
His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.
14 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਭੇਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਰਾਰ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.
15 ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਮੁਕਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.
16 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੈਂ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਤੇ ਇੱਕਲਾ ਹਾਂ। ਆਪਣਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੱਲ ਫ਼ੇਰੋ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਵਿਖਾਉ।
Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.
17 ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਕਰੋ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਮਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਲਝਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੋ।
The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.
18 ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਜ਼ਮਾਇਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਕਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਵੇਖ। ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਮੁਆਫ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿਉ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.
19 ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਵੇਖ, ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇੰਨੀ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੱਟਾਂ ਮਾਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.
20 ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰੋ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਕੀਨ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਿਰਾਸ਼ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ।
O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.
21 ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਹੋ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰੋ।
Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.
22 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਬਚਾਉ।
Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.
