וַֽיְהִי֙ And it came to pass, hāyâ כְּכַלּ֣וֹת had finished kālâ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה when Solomon šĕlōmō לִבְנ֥וֹת the building bānâ אֶת of ʾēt בֵּית the house bayit יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ וְאֶת ʾēt בֵּ֣ית house, bayit הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ and the king's melek וְאֵת֙ ʾēt כָּל and all kōl חֵ֣שֶׁק desire ḥēšeq שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה Solomon's šĕlōmō אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer חָפֵ֖ץ he was pleased ḥāpēṣ לַֽעֲשֽׂוֹת׃ to do, ʿāśâ

וַיֵּרָ֧א appeared rāʾâ יְהוָ֛ה That the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶל to ʾēl שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה Solomon šĕlōmō שֵׁנִ֑ית the second time, šēnî כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֛ר as ʾăšer נִרְאָ֥ה he had appeared rāʾâ אֵלָ֖יו unto ʾēl בְּגִבְעֽוֹן׃ him at Gibeon. gibʿôn

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said ʾāmar יְהוָ֜ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵלָ֗יו unto ʾēl שָׁ֠מַעְתִּי him, I have heard šāmaʿ אֶת ʾēt תְּפִלָּֽתְךָ֣ thy prayer tĕpillâ וְאֶת ʾēt תְּחִנָּֽתְךָ֮ and thy supplication, tĕḥinnâ אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer הִתְחַנַּ֣נְתָּה thou hast made ḥānan לְפָנַי֒ before pānîm הִקְדַּ֗שְׁתִּי me: I have hallowed qādaš אֶת ʾēt הַבַּ֤יִת house, bayit הַזֶּה֙ this ze אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer בָּנִ֔תָה thou hast built, bānâ לָֽשׂוּם to put śûm שְׁמִ֥י my name šēm שָׁ֖ם there šām עַד for ʿad עוֹלָ֑ם ever; ʿôlām וְהָי֨וּ shall be hāyâ עֵינַ֧י and mine eyes ʿayin וְלִבִּ֛י and mine heart lēb שָׁ֖ם there šām כָּל kōl הַיָּמִֽים׃ perpetually. yôm

וְאַתָּ֞ה thou ʾattâ אִם And if ʾim תֵּלֵ֣ךְ wilt walk hālak לְפָנַ֗י before pānîm כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֨ר me, as ʾăšer הָלַ֜ךְ walked, hālak דָּוִ֤ד David dāwid אָבִ֙יךָ֙ thy father ʾāb בְּתָם in integrity tōm לֵבָ֣ב of heart, lēbāb וּבְיֹ֔שֶׁר and in uprightness, yōšer לַֽעֲשׂ֕וֹת to do ʿāśâ כְּכֹ֖ל according to all kōl אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer צִוִּיתִ֑יךָ I have commanded ṣāwâ חֻקַּ֥י my statutes ḥōq וּמִשְׁפָּטַ֖י and my judgments: mišpāṭ תִּשְׁמֹֽר׃ thee, wilt keep šāmar

וַהֲקִ֨מֹתִ֜י Then I will establish qûm אֶת ʾēt כִּסֵּ֧א the throne kissēʾ מַֽמְלַכְתְּךָ֛ of thy kingdom mamlākâ עַל upon ʿal יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל Israel yiśrāʾēl לְעֹלָ֑ם for ever, ʿôlām כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֣ר as ʾăšer דִּבַּ֗רְתִּי I promised dābar עַל to ʿal דָּוִ֤ד David dāwid אָבִ֙יךָ֙ thy father, ʾāb לֵאמֹ֔ר saying, ʾāmar לֹֽא There shall not lōʾ יִכָּרֵ֤ת fail kārat לְךָ֙ אִ֔ישׁ thee a man ʾîš מֵעַ֖ל upon ʿal כִּסֵּ֥א the throne kissēʾ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel. yiśrāʾēl

אִם if ʾim שׁ֨וֹב ye shall at all šûb תְּשֻׁב֜וּן turn šûb אַתֶּ֤ם me, ye ʾattâ וּבְנֵיכֶם֙ or your children, bēn מֵֽאַחֲרַ֔י from following ʾaḥar וְלֹ֤א and will not lōʾ תִשְׁמְרוּ֙ keep šāmar מִצְוֹתַ֣י my commandments miṣwâ חֻקֹּתַ֔י my statutes ḥuqqâ אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer נָתַ֖תִּי I have set nātan לִפְנֵיכֶ֑ם before pānîm וַֽהֲלַכְתֶּ֗ם you, but go hālak וַֽעֲבַדְתֶּם֙ and serve ʿābad אֱלֹהִ֣ים gods, ʾĕlōhîm אֲחֵרִ֔ים other ʾaḥēr וְהִשְׁתַּֽחֲוִיתֶ֖ם and worship them: šāḥâ לָהֶֽם׃

וְהִכְרַתִּ֣י Then will I cut off kārat אֶת ʾēt יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל Israel yiśrāʾēl מֵעַ֨ל of ʿal פְּנֵ֤י out pānîm הָֽאֲדָמָה֙ the land ʾădāmâ אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer נָתַ֣תִּי I have given nātan לָהֶ֔ם וְאֶת ʾēt הַבַּ֙יִת֙ them; and this house, bayit אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer הִקְדַּ֣שְׁתִּי I have hallowed qādaš לִשְׁמִ֔י for my name, šēm אֲשַׁלַּ֖ח will I cast out šālaḥ מֵעַ֣ל of ʿal פָּנָ֑י my sight; pānîm וְהָיָ֧ה shall be hāyâ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל and Israel yiśrāʾēl לְמָשָׁ֥ל a proverb māšāl וְלִשְׁנִינָ֖ה and a byword šĕnînâ בְּכָל among all kōl הָֽעַמִּֽים׃ people: ʿam

וְהַבַּ֤יִת house, bayit הַזֶּה֙ And at this ze יִֽהְיֶ֣ה is hāyâ עֶלְי֔וֹן high, ʿelyôn כָּל every one kōl עֹבֵ֥ר that passeth ʿābar עָלָ֖יו by ʿal יִשֹּׁ֣ם it shall be astonished, šāmēm וְשָׁרָ֑ק and shall hiss; šāraq וְאָֽמְר֗וּ and they shall say, ʾāmar עַל ʿal מֶ֨ה Why mâ עָשָׂ֤ה done ʿāśâ יְהוָה֙ hath the Lord yĕhōwâ כָּ֔כָה thus kākâ לָאָ֥רֶץ land, ʾereṣ הַזֹּ֖את unto this zōt וְלַבַּ֥יִת house? bayit הַזֶּֽה׃ and to this ze

וְאָֽמְר֗וּ And they shall answer, ʾāmar עַל֩ Because ʿal אֲשֶׁ֨ר ʾăšer עָֽזְב֜וּ they forsook ʿāzab אֶת ʾēt יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֗ם their God, ʾĕlōhîm אֲשֶׁ֨ר who ʾăšer הוֹצִ֣יא brought forth yāṣāʾ אֶת ʾēt אֲבֹתָם֮ their fathers ʾāb מֵאֶ֣רֶץ out of the land ʾereṣ מִצְרַיִם֒ of Egypt, miṣrayim וַֽיַּחֲזִ֙קוּ֙ and have taken hold ḥāzaq בֵּֽאלֹהִ֣ים gods, ʾĕlōhîm אֲחֵרִ֔ים upon other ʾaḥēr וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲוֻּ֥ and have worshipped šāḥâ לָהֶ֖ם וַיַּֽעַבְדֻ֑ם them, and served ʿābad עַל them: therefore ʿal כֵּ֗ן kēn הֵבִ֤יא brought bôʾ יְהוָה֙ hath the Lord yĕhōwâ עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם upon ʿal אֵ֥ת them ʾēt כָּל all kōl הָֽרָעָ֖ה evil. raʿ הַזֹּֽאת׃ this zōt

וַיְהִ֗י And it came to pass hāyâ מִקְצֵה֙ at the end qāṣe עֶשְׂרִ֣ים of twenty ʿeśrîm שָׁנָ֔ה years, šāne אֲשֶׁר when ʾăšer בָּנָ֥ה had built bānâ שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה Solomon šĕlōmō אֶת ʾēt שְׁנֵ֣י the two šĕnayim הַבָּתִּ֑ים houses, bayit אֶת ʾēt בֵּ֥ית the house bayit יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ וְאֶת ʾēt בֵּ֥ית house, bayit הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ and the king's melek

חִירָ֣ם Hiram ḥîrām מֶֽלֶךְ the king melek צֹ֠ר of Tyre ṣōr נִשָּׂ֨א had furnished nāśāʾ אֶת ʾēt שְׁלֹמֹ֜ה Solomon šĕlōmō בַּֽעֲצֵי֩ trees ʿēṣ אֲרָזִ֨ים with cedar ʾerez וּבַֽעֲצֵ֧י trees, ʿēṣ בְרוֹשִׁ֛ים and fir bĕrôš וּבַזָּהָ֖ב and with gold, zāhāb לְכָל according to all kōl חֶפְצ֑וֹ his desire,) ḥēpeṣ אָ֡ז that then ʾāz יִתֵּן֩ gave nātan הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ king melek שְׁלֹמֹ֤ה Solomon šĕlōmō לְחִירָם֙ Hiram ḥîrām עֶשְׂרִ֣ים twenty ʿeśrîm עִ֔יר cities ʿîr בְּאֶ֖רֶץ in the land ʾereṣ הַגָּלִֽיל׃ of Galilee. gālîl

וַיֵּצֵ֤א came out yāṣāʾ חִירָם֙ And Hiram ḥîrām מִצֹּ֔ר from Tyre ṣōr לִרְאוֹת֙ to see rāʾâ אֶת ʾēt הֶ֣עָרִ֔ים the cities ʿîr אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer נָֽתַן had given nātan ל֖וֹ שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה Solomon šĕlōmō וְלֹ֥א him not. lōʾ יָֽשְׁר֖וּ him; and they pleased yāšar בְּעֵינָֽיו׃ ʿayin

וַיֹּ֕אמֶר And he said, ʾāmar מָ֚ה What mâ הֶֽעָרִ֣ים cities ʿîr הָאֵ֔לֶּה these ʾēlle אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer נָתַ֥תָּה thou hast given nātan לִּ֖י אָחִ֑י me, my brother? ʾāḥ וַיִּקְרָ֤א And he called qārāʾ לָהֶם֙ אֶ֣רֶץ them the land ʾereṣ כָּב֔וּל of Cabul kābûl עַ֖ד unto ʿad הַיּ֥וֹם day. yôm הַזֶּֽה׃ this ze

וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח sent šālaḥ חִירָ֖ם And Hiram ḥîrām לַמֶּ֑לֶךְ to the king melek מֵאָ֥ה sixscore mēʾâ וְעֶשְׂרִ֖ים ʿeśrîm כִּכַּ֥ר talents kikkār זָהָֽב׃ of gold. zāhāb

וְזֶ֨ה And this ze דְבַר the reason dābār הַמַּ֜ס of the levy mas אֲשֶֽׁר which ʾăšer הֶעֱלָ֣ה׀ raised; ʿālâ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ king melek שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה Solomon šĕlōmō לִבְנוֹת֩ for to build bānâ אֶת ʾēt בֵּ֨ית the house bayit יְהוָ֤ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ וְאֶת ʾēt בֵּיתוֹ֙ and his own house, bayit וְאֶת ʾēt הַמִּלּ֔וֹא and Millo, millôʾ וְאֵ֖ת ʾēt חוֹמַ֣ת and the wall ḥômâ יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם of Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim וְאֶת ʾēt חָצֹ֥ר and Hazor, ḥāṣôr וְאֶת ʾēt מְגִדּ֖וֹ and Megiddo, mĕgiddôn וְאֶת ʾēt גָּֽזֶר׃ and Gezer. gezer

פַּרְעֹ֨ה Pharaoh parʿō מֶֽלֶךְ king melek מִצְרַ֜יִם of Egypt miṣrayim עָלָ֗ה had gone up, ʿālâ וַיִּלְכֹּ֤ד and taken lākad אֶת ʾēt גֶּ֙זֶר֙ Gezer, gezer וַיִּשְׂרְפָ֣הּ and burnt śārap בָּאֵ֔שׁ it with fire, ʾēš וְאֶת ʾēt הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֛י the Canaanites kĕnaʿanî הַיֹּשֵׁ֥ב that dwelt yāšab בָּעִ֖יר in the city, ʿîr הָרָ֑ג and slain hārag וַֽיִּתְּנָהּ֙ and given nātan שִׁלֻּחִ֔ים it a present šillûaḥ לְבִתּ֖וֹ unto his daughter, bat אֵ֥שֶׁת wife. ʾiššâ שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃ Solomon's šĕlōmō

וַיִּ֤בֶן built bānâ שְׁלֹמֹה֙ And Solomon šĕlōmō אֶת ʾēt גָּ֔זֶר Gezer, gezer וְאֶת ʾēt בֵּ֥ית חֹרֹ֖ן and Beth-horon bêt ḥôrôn תַּחְתּֽוֹן׃ the nether, taḥtôn

וְאֶֽת ʾēt בַּעֲלָ֛ת And Baalath, baʿălāt וְאֶת ʾēt תַּדְמֹ֥ר and Tadmor tadmōr בַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר in the wilderness, midbār בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ in the land, ʾereṣ

וְאֵ֨ת ʾēt כָּל And all kōl עָרֵ֤י the cities ʿîr הַֽמִּסְכְּנוֹת֙ of store miskĕnâ אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer הָי֣וּ had, hāyâ לִשְׁלֹמֹ֔ה Solomon šĕlōmō וְאֵת֙ ʾēt עָרֵ֣י and cities ʿîr הָרֶ֔כֶב for his chariots, rekeb וְאֵ֖ת ʾēt עָרֵ֣י and cities ʿîr הַפָּֽרָשִׁ֑ים for his horsemen, pāroš וְאֵ֣ת׀ ʾēt חֵ֣שֶׁק and that ḥēšeq שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה Solomon šĕlōmō אֲשֶׁ֤ר which ʾăšer חָשַׁק֙ desired ḥāšaq לִבְנ֤וֹת to build bānâ בִּירֽוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ in Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim וּבַלְּבָנ֔וֹן and in Lebanon, lĕbānôn וּבְכֹ֖ל and in all kōl אֶ֥רֶץ the land ʾereṣ מֶמְשַׁלְתּֽוֹ׃ of his dominion. memšālâ

כָּל all kōl הָ֠עָם the people ʿam הַנּוֹתָ֨ר left yātar מִן of min הָֽאֱמֹרִ֜י the Amorites, ʾĕmōrî הַֽחִתִּ֤י Hittites, ḥittî הַפְּרִזִּי֙ Perizzites, pĕrizzî הַֽחִוִּ֣י Hivites, ḥiwwî וְהַיְבוּסִ֔י and Jebusites, yĕbûsî אֲשֶׁ֛ר which ʾăšer לֹֽא not lōʾ מִבְּנֵ֥י of the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl הֵֽמָּה׃ hēm

בְּנֵיהֶ֗ם Their children bēn אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ʾăšer נֹֽתְר֤וּ were left yātar אַֽחֲרֵיהֶם֙ after ʾaḥar בָּאָ֔רֶץ them in the land, ʾereṣ אֲשֶׁ֧ר whom ʾăšer לֹֽא also were not lōʾ יָכְל֛וּ able yākōl בְּנֵ֥י the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl לְהַֽחֲרִימָ֑ם utterly to destroy, ḥāram וַיַּֽעֲלֵ֤ם levy ʿālâ שְׁלֹמֹה֙ upon those did Solomon šĕlōmō לְמַס a tribute mas עֹבֵ֔ד of bondservice ʿābad עַ֖ד unto ʿad הַיּ֥וֹם day. yôm הַזֶּֽה׃ this ze

וּמִבְּנֵי֙ But of the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl לֹֽא no lōʾ נָתַ֥ן make nātan שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה did Solomon šĕlōmō עָ֑בֶד bondmen: ʿebed כִּי but kî הֵ֞ם they hēm אַנְשֵׁ֣י men ʾîš הַמִּלְחָמָ֗ה of war, milḥāmâ וַֽעֲבָדָיו֙ and his servants, ʿebed וְשָׂרָ֣יו and his princes, śar וְשָֽׁלִישָׁ֔יו and his captains, šālîš וְשָׂרֵ֥י and rulers śar רִכְבּ֖וֹ of his chariots, rekeb וּפָֽרָשָֽׁיו׃ and his horsemen. pāroš

אֵ֣לֶּה׀ These ʾēlle שָׂרֵ֣י the chief śar הַנִּצָּבִ֗ים of the officers nāṣab אֲשֶׁ֤ר that ʾăšer עַל over ʿal הַמְּלָאכָה֙ work, mĕlāʾkâ לִשְׁלֹמֹ֔ה Solomon's šĕlōmō חֲמִשִּׁ֖ים and fifty, ḥămiššîm וַֽחֲמֵ֣שׁ five ḥāmēš מֵא֑וֹת hundred mēʾâ הָֽרֹדִ֣ים which bare rule rādâ בָּעָ֔ם over the people ʿam הָֽעֹשִׂ֖ים that wrought ʿāśâ בַּמְּלָאכָֽה׃ in the work. mĕlāʾkâ

אַ֣ךְ But ʾak בַּת daughter bat פַּרְעֹ֗ה Pharaoh's parʿō עָֽלְתָה֙ came up ʿālâ מֵעִ֣יר out of the city ʿîr דָּוִ֔ד of David dāwid אֶל unto ʾēl בֵּיתָ֖הּ her house bayit אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer בָּֽנָה had built bānâ לָ֑הּ אָ֖ז for her: then ʾāz בָּנָ֥ה did he build bānâ אֶת ʾēt הַמִּלּֽוֹא׃ Millo. millôʾ

וְהֶֽעֱלָ֣ה offer ʿālâ שְׁלֹמֹ֡ה did Solomon šĕlōmō שָׁלֹשׁ֩ And three šālôš פְּעָמִ֨ים times paʿam בַּשָּׁנָ֜ה in a year šāne עֹל֣וֹת burnt offerings ʿōlâ וּשְׁלָמִ֗ים and peace offerings šelem עַל upon ʿal הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ the altar mizbēaḥ אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer בָּנָ֣ה he built bānâ לַֽיהוָ֔ה unto the Lord, yĕhōwâ וְהַקְטֵ֣יר and he burnt incense qāṭar אִתּ֔וֹ upon the altar ʾēt אֲשֶׁ֖ר that ʾăšer לִפְנֵ֣י before pānîm יְהוָ֑ה the Lord. yĕhōwâ וְשִׁלַּ֖ם So he finished šālam אֶת ʾēt הַבָּֽיִת׃ the house. bayit

וָֽאֳנִ֡י a navy of ships ʾŏnî עָשָׂה֩ made ʿāśâ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ And king melek שְׁלֹמֹ֜ה Solomon šĕlōmō בְּעֶצְיֽוֹן גֶּ֨בֶר in Ezion-geber, ʿeṣyôn geber אֲשֶׁ֧ר which ʾăšer אֶת beside ʾēt אֵל֛וֹת Eloth, ʾêlôt עַל on ʿal שְׂפַ֥ת the shore śāpâ יַם sea, yām ס֖וּף of the Red sûp בְּאֶ֥רֶץ in the land ʾereṣ אֱדֽוֹם׃ of Edom. ʾĕdōm

וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח sent šālaḥ חִירָ֤ם And Hiram ḥîrām בָּֽאֳנִי֙ in the navy ʾŏnî אֶת ʾēt עֲבָדָ֔יו his servants, ʿebed אַנְשֵׁ֣י shipmen ʾĕnôš אֳנִיּ֔וֹת ʾŏniyyâ יֹֽדְעֵ֖י that had knowledge yādaʿ הַיָּ֑ם of the sea, yām עִ֖ם with ʿim עַבְדֵ֥י the servants ʿebed שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃ of Solomon. šĕlōmō

וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ And they came bôʾ אוֹפִ֔ירָה to Ophir, ʾôpîr וַיִּקְח֤וּ and fetched lāqaḥ מִשָּׁם֙ from thence šām זָהָ֔ב gold, zāhāb אַרְבַּע four ʾarbaʿ מֵא֥וֹת hundred mēʾâ וְעֶשְׂרִ֖ים and twenty ʿeśrîm כִּכָּ֑ר talents, kikkār וַיָּבִ֖אוּ and brought bôʾ אֶל to ʾēl הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ king melek שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃ Solomon. šĕlōmō
