அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான்: அப்படி உமக்கு வராதிருப்பதாக; உமக்குப் பொல்லாப்புச் செய்ய என் தகப்பனாலே தீர்மானித்திருக்கிறது என்று நான் நிச்சயமாய் அறிந்தேனானால் நான் அதை உமக்கு அறிவிக்காதிருப்பேனோ என்றான்.

அப்பொழுது தாவீது திரும்பவும் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசாரித்தபோது, கர்த்தர் அவனுக்கு பதிலாக: நீ எழுந்து, கேகிலாவுக்குப் போ; நான் பெலிஸ்தர்களை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன் என்றார்.

தாவீது மீண்டும் கர்த்தரிடம் கேட்டான். கர்த்தர், “கேகிலாவிற்குப் போ, பெலிஸ்தியர்களை வெல்ல நான் உதவுவேன்” என்றார்.
