இவன் அவனைக் கொண்டுபோய் விட்டபோது, இதோ, அவர்கள் வெளியெங்கும் பரவி, புசித்துக் குடித்து, தாங்கள் பெலிஸ்தர் தேசத்திலும் யூதாதேசத்திலும் கொள்ளையிட்டுவந்த மகா பெரிதான அந்த எல்லாக் கொள்ளைக்காகவும் ஆடிப்பாடிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

கோபத்தோடு பந்தியைவிட்டு எழுந்துபோய், அமாவாசையின் மறுநாளாகிய அன்றையதினம் சாப்பிடாமல் இருந்தான்; தன்னுடைய தகப்பன் தாவீதை நிந்தித்துச் சொன்னது அவனுக்கு மனவருத்தமாக இருந்தது.

அவன் தந்தை மீது கோபங்கொண்டுப் பந்தியிலிருந்து விலகிக் கொண்டான். விருந்தின் இரண்டாம் நாளில் யோனத்தான் உணவுண்ண மறுத்தான். தனது தந்தை தன்னை அவமானப்படுத்தியதாலும் தாவீதை கொல்ல விரும்பியதாலும் யோனத்தான் கோபமடைந்தான்.
