2 சாமுவேல் 19
31 கீலேயாத்தியனாகிய பர்சிலாவும் ரோகிலிமிலிருந்து வந்து, யோர்தான்மட்டும் ராஜாவை வழிவிட்டனுப்ப, அவனோடேகூட யோர்தானின் துறைமட்டும் கடந்துவந்தான்.
32 பர்சிலா எண்பது வயதுசென்ற கிழவனாயிருந்தான்; ராஜா மக்னாயீமிலே தங்கியிருக்குமட்டும் அவனைப் பராமரித்து வந்தான்; அவன் மகா பெரியமனுஷனாயிருந்தான்.
33 ராஜா பர்சிலாவை நோக்கி: நீ என்னோடேகூடக் கடந்துவா, எருசலேமிலே உன்னை என்னிடத்தில் வைத்து பராமரிப்பேன் என்றான்.
34 பர்சிலா ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: நான் ராஜாவோடேகூட எருசலேமுக்கு வர, நான் இன்னும் உயிரோடிருக்கும் ஆயுசின் நாட்கள் எம்மாத்திரம்?
35 இப்பொழுது நான் எண்பது வயதுள்ளவன்; இனி நலமானது இன்னதென்றும் தீதானது இன்னதென்றும் எனக்குத் தெரியுமோ? புசிக்கிறதும் குடிக்கிறதும் உமது அடியேனுக்கு ருசிகரமாயிருக்குமோ? சங்கீதக்காரர் சங்கீதக்காரிகளுடைய சத்தத்தை இனிக் கேட்கக்கூடுமோ? உமது அடியேனாகிய நான் இனி ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுக்குப் பாரமாயிருக்கவேண்டியது என்ன?
36 அடியேன் கொஞ்சதூரம் யோர்தான்மட்டும் ராஜாவோடேகூட வருவேன்; அதற்கு ராஜா இவ்வளவு பெரிய உபகாரத்தை எனக்குச் செய்யவேண்டியது என்ன?
37 நான் என் ஊரிலே மரித்து, என் தாய் தகப்பன்மார் கல்லறையிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணப்படும்படிக்கு, உமது அடியான் திரும்பிப்போகட்டும்; ஆனாலும், இதோ, உமது அடியானாகிய கிம்காம் ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனோடேகூட வருவான்; உம்முடைய பார்வைக்கு நலமானபடி அவனுக்குச் செய்யும் என்றான்.
38 அப்பொழுது ராஜா: கிம்காம் என்னோடேகூட வரட்டும்; உன் பார்வைக்கு நலமானபடியே நான் அவனுக்கு நடப்பித்து, நீ என்னிடத்தில் வேண்டிக்கொள்வதையெல்லாம் நான் உனக்குச் செய்வேன் என்றான்.
31 And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim, and went over Jordan with the king, to conduct him over Jordan.
32 Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even fourscore years old: and he had provided the king of sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he was a very great man.
33 And the king said unto Barzillai, Come thou over with me, and I will feed thee with me in Jerusalem.
34 And Barzillai said unto the king, How long have I to live, that I should go up with the king unto Jerusalem?
35 I am this day fourscore years old: and can I discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?
36 Thy servant will go a little way over Jordan with the king: and why should the king recompense it me with such a reward?
37 Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back again, that I may die in mine own city, and be buried by the grave of my father and of my mother. But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.
38 And the king answered, Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good unto thee: and whatsoever thou shalt require of me, that will I do for thee.

17 நன்றாய் விசாரணைசெய்கிற மூப்பர்களை, விசேஷமாக திருவசனத்திலும் உபதேசத்திலும் பிரயாசப்படுகிறவர்களை, இரட்டிப்பான கனத்திற்குப் பாத்திரராக எண்ணவேண்டும்.
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
18 போரடிக்கிற மாட்டை வாய் கட்டாயாக என்றும், வேலையாள் தன் கூலிக்குப் பாத்திரனாயிருக்கிறான் என்றும், வேதவாக்கியம் சொல்லுகிறதே.
For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
19 மூப்பனானவனுக்கு விரோதமாக ஒருவன் செய்யும் பிராதை இரண்டு மூன்று சாட்சிகள் இல்லாமல் நீ ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளக்கூடாது.
Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
20 மற்றவர்களுக்குப் பயமுண்டாகும்படி, பாவஞ்செய்தவர்களை எல்லாருக்கும் முன்பாகக் கடிந்துகொள்.
Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
21 நீ பட்சபாதத்தோடே ஒன்றும் செய்யாமலும், விசாரிக்குமுன் நிருணயம்பண்ணாமலும், இவைகளைக் காத்து நடக்கும்படி, தேவனுக்கும், கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவுக்கும், தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட தூதருக்கும் முன்பாக, உறுதியாய்க் கட்டளையிடுகிறேன்.
I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
22 ஒருவன்மேலும் சீக்கிரமாய்க் கைகளை வையாதே; மற்றவர்கள் செய்யும் பாவங்களுக்கும் உடன்படாதே; உன்னைச் சுத்தவானாகக் காத்துக்கொள்.
Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.
23 நீ இனிமேல் தண்ணீர் மாத்திரம்குடியாமல், உன் வயிற்றிற்காகவும், உனக்கு அடிக்கடி நேரிடுகிற பலவீனங்களுக்காகவும், கொஞ்சம் திராட்சரசமும் கூட்டிக்கொள்.
Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.
24 சிலருடைய பாவங்கள் வெளியரங்கமாயிருந்து, நியாயத்தீர்ப்புக்கு முந்திக்கொள்ளும்; சிலருடைய பாவங்கள் அவர்களைப் பின்தொடரும்.
Some men’s sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
