சேயீர் மலைகளில் இருந்த ஓரியரையும், வனாந்தரத்துக்கு அருகான எல்பாரான்மட்டும் முறியடித்து,

இதன்பின்பு அசீரியா ராஜாவாகிய சனகெரிப் தன் முழு படையுடன் லாகீசுக்கு எதிராக முற்றுகை போட்டிருக்கும்போது, யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய எசேக்கியாவிடத்திற்கும், எருசலேமிலுள்ள யூதா மக்கள் அனைவரிடத்திற்கும் தன் வேலைக்காரர்களை அனுப்பி:

சனகெரிப்பும் அவனது படைகளும் லாகீசுக்கு எதிராக முற்றுகை இட்டனர். அதனைத் தோற்கடிக்க முடியும் என்றும் எண்ணினர். சனகெரிப் தனது வேலைக்காரர்களை யூதாவின் அரசனான எசேக்கியாவிடமும் எருசலேமில் உள்ள யூதா ஜனங்களிடமும் அனுப்பினான். எசேக்கியாவிற்கும், எருசலேமில் உள்ள ஜனங்களுக்கும் எடுத்துச்சொல்ல சனகெரிப்பின் வேலைக்காரர்களிடம் ஒரு செய்தி இருந்தது.
