জেরুশালেমে ফিরে আসার পর দ্বিতীয় বছরের দ্বিতীয় মাসে শলটীয়েলের পাত্র সরুব্বাবিল, য়োষাদকের পাত্র য়েশূয ও তাঁদের ভাইরা, যাজকগণ, লেবীয়গণ ও অন্যান্য ব্যক্তিরা য়াঁরা বন্দীদশা থেকে জেরুশালেমে ফিরে এসেছিলেন তাঁরা মন্দির নির্মাণের কাজ শুরু করলেন| তাঁরা 20 বছর এবং তার চেযে বেশী বযস্ক লেবীয়দের মন্দির নির্মাণের তত্ত্বাবধানের জন্য বেছে নিলেন|

in the second הַשֵּׁנִ֑י šēnî shay-NEE
began הֵחֵ֡לּוּ ḥālal ha-LAHL
Zerubbabel זְרֻבָּבֶ֣ל zĕrubbābel zeh-roo-ba-VEL
the son בֶּן bēn bane
of Shealtiel, שְׁ֠אַלְתִּיאֵל šĕʾaltîʾēl sheh-al-tee-ALE
and Jeshua וְיֵשׁ֨וּעַ yēšûaʿ yay-SHOO-ah
the son בֶּן bēn bane
of Jozadak, יֽוֹצָדָ֜ק yôṣādāq yoh-tsa-DAHK
and the remnant וּשְׁאָ֥ר šĕʾār sheh-AR
of their brethren אֲחֵיהֶ֣ם׀ ʾāḥ ak
the priests הַכֹּֽהֲנִ֣ים kōhēn koh-HANE
and the Levites, וְהַלְוִיִּ֗ם lēwiyyî lay-vee-YEE
and all וְכָל kōl kole
they that were come out הַבָּאִים֙ bôʾ boh
of the captivity מֵֽהַשְּׁבִ֣י šĕbî sheh-VEE
unto Jerusalem; יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֔ם yĕrûšālaim yeh-roo-sha-la-EEM
and appointed וַיַּֽעֲמִ֣ידוּ ʿāmad ah-MAHD
אֶת ʾēt ate
the Levites, הַלְוִיִּ֗ם lēwiyyî lay-vee-YEE
old מִבֶּ֨ן bēn bane
from twenty עֶשְׂרִ֤ים ʿeśrîm es-REEM
years שָׁנָה֙ šāne sha-NEH
and upward, וָמַ֔עְלָה maʿal ma-AL
to set forward לְנַצֵּ֖חַ nāṣaḥ na-TSAHK
עַל ʿal al
the work מְלֶ֥אכֶת mĕlāʾkâ meh-la-HA
of the house בֵּית bayit ba-YEET
of the Lord. יְהוָֽה׃ yĕhōwâ yeh-hoh-VA
