தன் ஆயுததாரியை நோக்கி: அந்த விருத்தசேதனம் இல்லாதவர்கள் வந்து என்னை அவமானப்படுத்தாதபடிக்கு, நீ உன் பட்டயத்தை உருவி, என்னைக் குத்திப்போடு என்றான்; அவனுடைய ஆயுததாரி மிகவும் பயப்பட்டதினால் அப்படிச்செய்யமாட்டேன் என்றான். அப்பொழுது சவுல் பட்டயத்தை நட்டு அதின்மேல் விழுந்தான்.

பிறகு சவுல் அவனது ஆயுதந்தாங்கியிடம், “உனது வாளை எடு. அதனால் என்னைக் கொல். அதனால் அந்த அந்நியர்கள் என்னைக் காயப்படுத்தமாட்டார்கள். அவர்கள் வரும்போது என்னைக் கேலிச் செய்யமாட்டார்கள்” என்றான். ஆனால், சவுலின் ஆயுதந்தாங்கி பயந்தான். அவன் சவுலைக் கொல்ல மறுத்தான். பிறகு சவுல், தனது சொந்த வாளையே தன்னைக் கொல்வதற்கு பயன்படுத்தினான்.

Than aayuthathaariyai Nnokki: antha viruththasethanam illaathavarkal vanthu ennai avamaanappaduththaathapatikku, nee un pattayaththai uruvi, ennaik kuththippodu entan; avanutaiya aayuthathaari mikavum payappattathinaal appatichcheyyamaattaேn entan. Appoluthu savul pattayaththai nattu athinmael vilunthaan.
