1 பெலிஸ்தர் இஸ்ரவேலரோடே யுத்தபண்ணினார்கள்; இஸ்ரவேல் பெலிஸ்தருக்கு முன்பாக முறிந்தோடி, கில்போவா மலையிலே வெட்டுண்டு விழுந்தார்கள். Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.

2 பெலிஸ்தர் சவுலையும் அவன் குமாரரையும் நெருங்கித் தொடர்ந்து, சவுலின் குமாரராகிய யோனத்தானையும் அபினதாபையும் மல்கிசூவாவையும் வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள். And the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.

3 சவுலுக்கு விரோதமாய் யுத்தம் பலத்தது; வில்வீரர் அவனைக்கண்டு நெருங்கினார்கள்; அப்பொழுது சவுல் வில்வீரருக்கு மிகவும் பயப்பட்டு, And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him, and he was wounded of the archers.

4 தன் ஆயுததாரியை நோக்கி: அந்த விருத்தசேதனம் இல்லாதவர்கள் வந்து என்னை அவமானப்படுத்தாதபடிக்கு, நீ உன் பட்டயத்தை உருவி, என்னைக் குத்திப்போடு என்றான்; அவனுடைய ஆயுததாரி மிகவும் பயப்பட்டதினால் அப்படிச்செய்யமாட்டேன் என்றான். அப்பொழுது சவுல் பட்டயத்தை நட்டு அதின்மேல் விழுந்தான். Then said Saul to his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. So Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.

5 சவுல் செத்துப்போனதை அவன் ஆயுததாரி கண்டபோது, அவனும் பட்டயத்தின்மேல் விழுந்து செத்துப்போனான். And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise on the sword, and died.

6 அப்படியே சவுலும், அவன் மூன்றுகுமாரரும், அவன் வீட்டு மனுஷர் அனைவரும்கூடச் செத்துப்போனார்கள். So Saul died, and his three sons, and all his house died together.

7 ஜனங்கள் முறிந்தோடினதையும், சவுலும் அவன் குமாரரும் செத்துப்போனதையும், பள்ளத்தாக்கிலுள்ள இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லரும் கண்டபோது தங்கள் பட்டணங்களை விட்டு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்; அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தர் வந்து, அவைகளில் குடியிருந்தார்கள் And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.

8 வெட்டுண்டவர்களின் வஸ்திரங்களை உரிந்துகொள்ளப் பெலிஸ்தர் மறுநாளில் வந்தபோது, அவர்கள் சவுலையும் அவன் குமாரரையும் கில்போவா மலையிலே விழுந்துகிடக்கக் கண்டு, And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen in mount Gilboa.

9 அவன் வஸ்திரங்களை உரிந்து, அவன் தலையையும் அவன் ஆயுதங்களையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, தங்கள் விக்கிரகங்களுக்கும் ஜனங்களுக்கும் அதைப் பிரசித்தப்படுத்தும்படி பெலிஸ்தருடைய தேசத்திலே சுற்றிலும் செய்தி அனுப்பி, And when they had stripped him, they took his head, and his armor, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry tidings unto their idols, and to the people.

10 அவன் ஆயுதங்களைத் தங்கள் தேவர்களின் கோவிலிலே வைத்து, அவன் தலையைத் தாகோன் கோவிலிலே தூக்கிவைத்தார்கள். And they put his armor in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the temple of Dagon.

11 பெலிஸ்தர் சவுலுக்குச் செய்த எல்லாவற்றையுங் கீலேயாத் தேசத்து யாபேஸ் பட்டணத்தார் யாவரும் கேட்டபோது, And when all Jabeshgilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,

12 பராக்கிரமசாலிகள் எல்லாரும் எழுந்துபோய், சவுலின் உடலையும் அவன் குமாரரின் உடல்களையும் எடுத்து, யாபேசுக்குக் கொண்டுவந்து, அவர்கள் எலும்புகளை யாபேசிலிருக்கிற ஒரு கர்வாலிமரத்தின்கீழ் அடக்கம்பண்ணி, ஏழுநாள் உபவாசம்பண்ணினார்கள். They arose, all the valiant men, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

13 அப்படியே சவுல் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையைக் கைக்கொள்ளாமல், கர்த்தருக்குச் செய்த தன் துரோகத்தினிமித்தமும், அவன் கர்த்தரைத் தேடாமல் அஞ்சனம் பார்க்கிறவர்களைக் கேட்கும்படிக்குத் தேடினதினிமித்தமும் செத்துப்போனான். So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it;

14 அதற்காக அவர் அவனைக் கொன்று, ராஜ்யபாரத்தை ஈசாயின் குமாரனாகிய தாவீது வசமாகக் திருப்பினார். And inquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.

1 Pelisthar isravaelarotae yuththapannnninaarkal; Israel pelistharukku munpaaka murinthoti, kilpovaa malaiyilae vettunndu vilunthaarkal. Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.

2 Pelisthar savulaiyum avan kumaararaiyum nerungith thodarnthu, savulin kumaararaakiya yonaththaanaiyum apinathaapaiyum malkisoovaavaiyum vettippottarkal. And the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.

3 Savulukku virothamaay yuththam palaththathu; vilveerar avanaikkanndu nerunginaarkal; appoluthu savul vilveerarukku mikavum payappattu, And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him, and he was wounded of the archers.

4 Than aayuthathaariyai Nnokki: antha viruththasethanam illaathavarkal vanthu ennai avamaanappaduththaathapatikku, nee un pattayaththai uruvi, ennaik kuththippodu entan; avanutaiya aayuthathaari mikavum payappattathinaal appatichcheyyamaattaேn entan. Appoluthu savul pattayaththai nattu athinmael vilunthaan. Then said Saul to his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. 6 Appatiyae savulum, avan moontukumaararum, avan veettu manushar anaivarumkoodach seththupponaarkal. So Saul died, and his three sons, and all his house died together.

7 Janangal murinthotinathaiyum, savulum avan kumaararum seththupponathaiyum, pallaththaakkilulla isravaelar ellarum kanndapothu thangal pattanangalai vittu otipponaarkal; appoluthu pelisthar vanthu, avaikalil kutiyirunthaarkal And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.

8 Vettunndavarkalin vasthirangalai urinthukollap pelisthar maraுnaalil vanthapothu, avarkal savulaiyum avan kumaararaiyum kilpovaa malaiyilae vilunthukidakkak kanndu, And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen in mount Gilboa.

9 Avan vasthirangalai urinthu, avan thalaiyaiyum avan aayuthangalaiyum eduththukkonndu, thangal vikkirakangalukkum janangalukkum athaip pirasiththappaduththumpati pelistharutaiya thaesaththilae suttilum seythi anuppi, And when they had stripped him, they took his head, and his armor, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry tidings unto their idols, and to the people.

12 Paraakkiramasaalikal ellaarum elunthupoy, savulin udalaiyum avan kumaararin udalkalaiyum eduththu, yaapaesukkuk konnduvanthu, avarkal elumpukalai yaapaesilirukkira oru karvaalimaraththingeel adakkampannnni, aelunaal upavaasampannnninaarkal. They arose, all the valiant men, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

13 Appatiyae savul karththarutaiya vaarththaiyaik kaikkollaamal, karththarukkuch seytha than thurokaththinimiththamum, avan karththaraith thaedaamal anjanam paarkkiravarkalaik kaetkumpatikkuth thaetinathinimiththamum seththupponaan. So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it;

14 Atharkaaka avar avanaik kontu, raajyapaaraththai eesaayin kumaaranaakiya David vasamaakak thiruppinaar. And inquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.
