ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் தன் தாயாருக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நீர் சூனேம் ஊராளாகிய அபிஷாகை அதோனியாவுக்குக் கேட்பானேன்? அப்படியானால் ராஜ்யபாரத்தையும் அவனுக்குக் கேளும்; அவன் எனக்கு மூத்த சகோதரன்; அவனுக்கும் ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாருக்கும் செருயாவின் குமாரன் யோவாபுக்குமே அதைக் கேளும் என்றான்.

ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் தன்னுடைய தாயாருக்கு மறுமொழியாக: நீர் சூனேம் ஊரைச்சேர்ந்த அபிஷாகை அதோனியாவுக்கு ஏன் கேட்கிறாய்? அப்படியானால் ராஜ்ஜியபாரத்தையும் அவனுக்குக் கேளும்; அவன் எனக்கு மூத்த சகோதரன்; அவனுக்கும் ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாருக்கும் செரூயாவின் மகன் யோவாபுக்குமே அதைக் கேளும் என்றான்.

அதற்கு அவன் தன் தாயிடம், “அபிஷாகை அதோனியாவிற்குக் கொடுக்கும்படி நீ ஏன் வேண்டுகிறாய். அவனையே அரசனாக்கிவிடு என்று நீ ஏன் கேட்கவில்லை. இத்தனைக்கும் அவன் எனக்கு மூத்தசகோதரன் தானே! ஆசாரியனான அபியத்தாரும் யோவாபும் அவனுக்கு பக்கபலமாக இருப்பார்கள்!” என்றான்.

அரசர் சாலமோன் தம் தாய்க்கு மறுமொழியாக, “சூனேமைச் சார்ந்த அபிசாகை அதோனியாவுக்காக நீர் கேட்பானேன்? இந்த அரசையும் அவனுக்காக நீர் கேட்டிருக்கலாமே? அவன்தான் என் மூத்த சகோதரனாயிற்றே! மேலும் குரு அபியத்தாரும் செரூயாவின் மகன் யோவாபும் அவர் பக்கம் இருக்கின்றனரே!” என்று சொன்னார்.

Raajaavaakiya saalomon than thaayaarukkup pirathiyuththaramaaka: neer soonaem ooraalaakiya apishaakai athoniyaavukkuk kaetpaanaen? Appatiyaanaal raajyapaaraththaiyum avanukkuk kaelum; avan enakku mooththa sakotharan; avanukkum aasaariyanaakiya apiyaththaarukkum seruyaavin kumaaran yovaapukkumae athaik kaelum entan.
