1 யோவாஸ் ராஜாவாகிறபோது ஏழுவயதாயிருந்து, நாற்பது வருஷம் எருசலேமில் அரசாண்டான்; பெயெர்செபாபட்டணத்தாளான அவன் தாயின் பேர் சிபியாள். Joash was seven years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Zibiah of Beersheba.

2 ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தாவின் நாளெல்லாம் யோவாஸ் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்தான். And Joash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all the days of Jehoiada the priest.

3 அவனுக்கு யோய்தா இரண்டு ஸ்திரீகளை விவாகஞ்செய்து கொடுத்தான்; அவர்களால் குமாரரையும் குமாரத்திகளையும் பெற்றான். And Jehoiada took for him two wives; and he begat sons and daughters.

4 அதற்குப்பின்பு கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தைப் புதுப்பிக்க யோவாஸ் விருப்பங்கொண்டான். And it came to pass after this, that Joash was minded to repair the house of the LORD.

5 அவன் ஆசாரிரையும் லேவியரையும் கூடி வரச்செய்து, அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் யூதா பட்டணங்களுக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், உங்கள் தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தை வருஷாவருஷம் பழுதுபார்க்கிறதற்கு, இஸ்ரவேலெங்கும் பணம் சேகரியுங்கள்; இந்தக் காரியத்தைத் தாமதமில்லாமல் செய்யுங்கள் என்றான். ஆனாலும் லேவியர் தாமதம்பண்ணினார்கள். And he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, Go out unto the cities of Judah, and gather of all Israel money to repair the house of your God from year to year, and see that ye hasten the matter. Howbeit the Levites hastened it not.

6 அப்பொழுது ராஜா யோய்தா என்னும் தலைவனை அழைப்பித்து: சாட்சியின் வாசஸ்தலத்துக்குக் கொடுக்க, கர்த்தரின் தாசனாகிய மோசே கட்டளையிட்ட வரியை யூதாவினிடத்திலும், எருசலேமியரிடத்திலும், இஸ்ரவேல் சபையாரிடத்திலும் வாங்கி வருகிறதற்கு, லேவியரை நீர் விசாரியாமற்போனதென்ன? And the king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said unto him, Why hast thou not required of the Levites to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem the collection, according to the commandment of Moses the servant of the LORD, and of the congregation of Israel, for the tabernacle of witness?

7 அந்தப் பொல்லாத ஸ்திரீயாகிய அத்தாலியாளுடைய மக்கள் தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தைப் பலவந்தமாய்த் திறந்து, கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலுள்ள பிரதிஷ்டை பண்ணப்பட்டவைகளையெல்லாம் பாகால்களுக்காகச் செலவுபண்ணிப்போட்டார்களே என்றான். For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken up the house of God; and also all the dedicated things of the house of the LORD did they bestow upon Baalim.

8 அப்பொழுது ராஜாவின் சொற்படி ஒரு பெட்டியை உண்டாக்கி, அதைக் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்து வாசலுக்குப் புறம்பே வைத்து, And at the king's commandment they made a chest, and set it without at the gate of the house of the LORD.

9 கர்த்தரின் தாசனாகிய மோசே வனாந்தரத்தில் இஸ்ரவேலுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்ட வரியைக் கர்த்தருக்குக் கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்று யூதாவிலும் எருசலேமிலும் பறைசாற்றுவித்தார்கள். And they made a proclamation through Judah and Jerusalem, to bring in to the LORD the collection that Moses the servant of God laid upon Israel in the wilderness.

10 அப்பொழுது எல்லாப் பிரபுக்களும் எல்லா ஜனங்களும் சந்தோஷமாய்க் கொண்டுவந்து பெட்டிநிறைய அதிலே போட்டார்கள். And all the princes and all the people rejoiced, and brought in, and cast into the chest, until they had made an end.

11 வெகுபணம் உண்டென்று கண்டு, லேவியர் கையால் அந்தப் பெட்டி ராஜாவின் விசாரிப்புக்காரர் அண்டையிலே கொண்டுவரப்படும்போது, ராஜாவின் சம்பிரதியும் பிரதான ஆசாரியனுடைய விசாரிப்புக்காரனும் வந்து, பெட்டியிலிருக்கிறதைக் கொட்டியெடுத்து, அதைத் திரும்ப அதின் ஸ்தானத்திலே வைப்பார்கள்; இப்படி நாளுக்குநாள் செய்து மிகுந்த பணத்தைச் சேர்த்தார்கள். Now it came to pass, that at what time the chest was brought unto the king's office by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, the king's scribe and the high priest's officer came and emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to his place again. Thus they did day by day, and gathered money in abundance.

12 அதை ராஜாவும் யோய்தாவும் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தின் வேலையை விசாரிக்கும் ஊழியக்காரர் கையிலே கொடுத்தார்கள்; அதினால் அவர்கள் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தைப் புதுப்பிக்கும்படி, கல்தச்சரையும் தச்சரையும், கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபார்க்கும்படி கொற்றரையும் கன்னாரையும் கூலிக்கு அமர்த்திக்கொண்டார்கள். And the king and Jehoiada gave it to such as did the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and hired masons and carpenters to repair the house of the LORD, and also such as wrought iron and brass to mend the house of the LORD.

13 அப்படி வேலையை விசாரிக்கிறவர்கள் தங்கள் கையினாலே வேலையை நடந்தேறப்பண்ணி, தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தை அதின் முந்தின சீருக்குக் கொண்டுவந்து அதைப் பலப்படுத்தினார்கள். So the workmen wrought, and the work was perfected by them, and they set the house of God in his state, and strengthened it.

14 அதை முடித்துத் தீர்ந்தபின்பு, மீந்த பணத்தை ராஜாவுக்கும் யோய்தாவுக்கும் முன்பாக கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; அதிலே கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தில் செய்யப்படும் பணிமுட்டுகளையும், ஆராதனை பலி முதலியவைகளுக்கு வேண்டிய பணிமுட்டுகளையும், கலசங்களையும், பொற்பாத்திரங்களையும், வெள்ளிப்பாத்திரங்களையும் பண்ணுவித்தான்; யோய்தாவின் நாளெல்லாம் நித்தம் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலே சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளைச் செலுத்தி வந்தார்கள். And when they had finished it, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, whereof were made vessels for the house of the LORD, even vessels to minister, and to offer withal, and spoons, and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the house of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada.

15 யோய்தா தீர்க்காயுசுள்ளவனாய் முதிர்வயதில் மரித்தான்; அவன் மரணமடைகிறபோது நூற்றுமுப்பது வயதாயிருந்தான். But Jehoiada waxed old, and was full of days when he died; an hundred and thirty years old was he when he died.

16 அவன் தேவனுக்காகவும் அவனுடைய ஆலயத்திற்காகவும் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு நன்மைசெய்தபடியினால், அவனைத் தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் ராஜாக்களண்டையிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள். And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God, and toward his house.

17 யோய்தா மரணமடைந்தபின்பு யூதாவின் பிரபுக்கள் வந்து, ராஜாவை பணிந்துகொண்டார்கள்; அப்பொழுது ராஜா அவர்களுக்குச் செவிகொடுத்தான். Now after the death of Jehoiada came the princes of Judah, and made obeisance to the king. Then the king hearkened unto them.

18 அப்படியே அவர்கள் தங்கள் பிதாக்களின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் ஆலயத்தை விட்டுவிட்டு, தோப்பு விக்கிரகங்களையும் சிலைகளையும் சேவித்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் செய்த இந்தக் குற்றத்தினிமித்தம் யூதாவின்மேலும் எருசலேமின்மேலும் கடுங்கோபம் மூண்டது. And they left the house of the LORD God of their fathers, and served groves and idols: and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass.

19 அவர்களைத் தம்மிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பப்பண்ணக் கர்த்தர் அவர்களிடத்திலே தீர்க்கதரிசிகளை அனுப்பினார்; அவர்கள் ஜனங்களைத் திடச்சாட்சியாகக் கடிந்துகொண்டார்கள்; ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் செவிகொடுக்கவில்லை. Yet he sent prophets to them, to bring them again unto the LORD; and they testified against them: but they would not give ear.

20 அப்பொழுது தேவனுடைய ஆவி ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தாவின் குமாரனான சகரியாவின்மேல் இறங்கினதினால், அவன் ஜனத்திற்கு எதிரே நின்று: நீங்கள் கர்த்தருடைய கற்பனைகளை மீறுகிறது என்ன? இதினால் நீங்கள் சித்திபெறமாட்டீர்களென்று தேவன் சொல்லுகிறார்; நீங்கள் கர்த்தரை விட்டுவிட்டதினால் அவர் உங்களைக் கைவிடுவார் என்றான். And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, which stood above the people, and said unto them, Thus saith God, Why transgress ye the commandments of the LORD, that ye cannot prosper? because ye have forsaken the LORD, he hath also forsaken you.

21 அதினால் அவர்கள் அவனுக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கட்டுப்பாடுபண்ணி, கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயப்பிராகாரத்தில் ராஜாவினுடைய கற்பனையின்படி அவனைக் கல்லெறிந்து கொன்றார்கள். And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of the LORD.

22 அப்படியே அவனுடைய தகப்பனாகிய யோய்தா தனக்குச் செய்த தயையை ராஜாவாகிய யோவாஸ் நினையாமல் அவனுடைய குமாரனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்; இவன் சாகும்போது: கர்த்தர் அதைப் பார்ப்பார், அதைக் கேட்பார் என்றான். Thus Joash the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, The LORD look upon it, and require it.

23 மறு வருஷத்திலே சீரியாவின் சேனைகள் அவனுக்கு விரோதமாக யூதாவிலும் எருசலேமிலும் வந்து, ஜனத்திலிருக்கிற பிரபுக்களையெல்லாம் அழித்து, கொள்ளையிட்ட அவர்கள் உடைமைகளையெல்லாம் தமஸ்குவின் ராஜாவுக்கு அனுப்பினார்கள். And it came to pass at the end of the year, that the host of Syria came up against him: and they came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people, and sent all the spoil of them unto the king of Damascus.

24 சீரியாவின் சேனை சிறுகூட்டமாய் வந்திருந்தாலும், அவர்கள் தங்கள் பிதாக்களின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை விட்டுவிட்டபடியினால், கர்த்தர் மகா பெரிய சேனையை அவர்கள் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; அவர்கள் யோவாசுக்கு தண்டனை செய்தார்கள். For the army of the Syrians came with a small company of men, and the LORD delivered a very great host into their hand, because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers. So they executed judgment against Joash.

25 அவர்கள் அவனை மகா வேதனைக்குள்ளானவனாக விட்டுப்போனார்கள்; அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுப்போனபின்பு, அவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தாவுடைய குமாரரின் இரத்தப்பழியினிமித்தம், அவனுக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கட்டுப்பாடுபண்ணி, அவன் படுக்கையிலே அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்; செத்துப்போன அவனைத் தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்; ஆனாலும் ராஜாக்களின் கல்லறைகளில் அவனை வைக்கவில்லை. And when they were departed from him, (for they left him in great diseases,) his own servants conspired against him for the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest, and slew him on his bed, and he died: and they buried him in the city of David, but they buried him not in the sepulchres of the kings.

26 அவனுக்கு விரோதமாகக் கட்டுப்பாடுபண்ணினவர்கள், அம்மோனிய ஸ்திரீயான சீமாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய சாபாத்தும், மோவாப் ஸ்திரீயான சிம்ரீத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யோசபாத்துமே. And these are they that conspired against him; Zabad the son of Shimeath an Ammonitess, and Jehozabad the son of Shimrith a Moabitess.

27 அவன் குமாரரைப்பற்றியும். அவன்மேல் வந்த பெரிய பாரத்தைப்பற்றியும், தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தை அவன் பலப்படுத்தினதைப்பற்றியும் ராஜாக்களின் புஸ்தகமான சரித்திரத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறது; அவன் குமாரனாகிய அமத்சியா அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான். Now concerning his sons, and the greatness of the burdens laid upon him, and the repairing of the house of God, behold, they are written in the story of the book of the kings. And Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.

1 Yovaas raajaavaakirapothu aeluvayathaayirunthu, naarpathu varusham erusalaemil arasaanndaan; peyersepaapattanaththaalaana avan thaayin paer sipiyaal. Joash was seven years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Zibiah of Beersheba.

2 Aasaariyanaakiya yoythaavin naalellaam yovaas karththarin paarvaikkuch semmaiyaanathaich seythaan. And Joash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all the days of Jehoiada the priest.

3 Avanukku yoythaa iranndu sthireekalai vivaakanjaெythu koduththaan; avarkalaal kumaararaiyum kumaaraththikalaiyum pettaாn. And Jehoiada took for him two wives; and he begat sons and daughters.

4 Atharkuppinpu karththarutaiya aalayaththaip puthuppikka yovaas viruppangaொnndaan. And it came to pass after this, that Joash was minded to repair the house of the LORD.

5 Avan aasaariraiyum laeviyaraiyum kooti varachcheythu, avarkalai Nnokki: neengal yoothaa pattanangalukkup purappattuppoy, ungal thaevanutaiya aalayaththai varushaavarusham paluthupaarkkiratharku, isravaelengum panam sekariyungal; inthak kaariyaththaith thaamathamillaamal seyyungal entan. Aanaalum laeviyar thaamathampannnninaarkal. And he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, Go out unto the cities of Judah, and gather of all Israel money to repair the house of your God from year to year, and see that ye hasten the matter. 6 Appoluthu raajaa yoythaa ennum thalaivanai alaippiththu: saatchiyin vaasasthalaththukkuk kodukka, karththarin thaasanaakiya Moses kattalaiyitta variyai yoothaavinidaththilum, erusalaemiyaridaththilum, Israel Sabaiyaaridaththilum vaangi varukiratharku, laeviyarai neer visaariyaamarponathenna? And the king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said unto him, Why hast thou not required of the Levites to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem the collection, according to the commandment of Moses the servant of the LORD, and of the congregation of Israel, for the tabernacle of witness?

7 Anthap pollaatha sthireeyaakiya aththaaliyaalutaiya makkal thaevanutaiya aalayaththaip palavanthamaayth thiranthu, karththarutaiya aalayaththilulla pirathishtai pannnappattavaikalaiyellaam paakaalkalukkaakach selavupannnnippottarkalae entan. For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken up the house of God; and also all the dedicated things of the house of the LORD did they bestow upon Baalim.

8 Appoluthu raajaavin sorpati oru pettiyai unndaakki, athaik karththarutaiya aalayaththu vaasalukkup purampae vaiththu, And at the king's commandment they made a chest, and set it without at the gate of the house of the LORD.

9 Karththarin thaasanaakiya Moses vanaantharaththil isravaelukkuk kattalaiyitta variyaik karththarukkuk konnduvaarungal entu yoothaavilum erusalaemilum paraisaattaுviththaarkal. And they made a proclamation through Judah and Jerusalem, to bring in to the LORD the collection that Moses the servant of God laid upon Israel in the wilderness.

10 Appoluthu ellaap pirapukkalum ellaa janangalum santhoshamaayk konnduvanthu pettiniraiya athilae pottarkal. And all the princes and all the people rejoiced, and brought in, and cast into the chest, until they had made an end.

11 Vekupanam unndentu kanndu, laeviyar kaiyaal anthap petti raajaavin visaarippukkaarar anntaiyilae konnduvarappadumpothu, raajaavin sampirathiyum pirathaana aasaariyanutaiya visaarippukkaaranum vanthu, pettiyilirukkirathaik kottiyeduththu, athaith thirumpa athin sthaanaththilae vaippaarkal; ippati naalukkunaal seythu mikuntha panaththaich serththaarkal. Now it came to pass, that at what time the chest was brought unto the king's office by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, the king's scribe and the high priest's officer came and emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to his place again. 12 Athai raajaavum yoythaavum karththarutaiya aalayaththin vaelaiyai visaarikkum ooliyakkaarar kaiyilae koduththaarkal; athinaal avarkal karththarutaiya aalayaththaip puthuppikkumpati, kalthachcharaiyum thachcharaiyum, karththarutaiya aalayaththaip paluthupaarkkumpati kottaraiyum kannaaraiyum koolikku amarththikkonndaarkal. And the king and Jehoiada gave it to such as did the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and hired masons and carpenters to repair the house of the LORD, and also such as wrought iron and brass to mend the house of the LORD.

13 Appati vaelaiyai visaarikkiravarkal thangal kaiyinaalae vaelaiyai nadanthaerappannnni, thaevanutaiya aalayaththai athin munthina seerukkuk konnduvanthu athaip palappaduththinaarkal. 14 Athai mutiththuth theernthapinpu, meentha panaththai raajaavukkum yoythaavukkum munpaaka konnduvanthaarkal; athilae karththarutaiya aalayaththil seyyappadum pannimuttukalaiyum, aaraathanai pali muthaliyavaikalukku vaenntiya pannimuttukalaiyum, kalasangalaiyum, porpaaththirangalaiyum, vellippaaththirangalaiyum pannnuviththaan; yoythaavin naalellaam niththam karththarutaiya aalayaththilae sarvaanga thakanapalikalaich seluththi vanthaarkal. And when they had finished it, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, whereof were made vessels for the house of the LORD, even vessels to minister, and to offer withal, and spoons, and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the house of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada.

15 Yoythaa theerkkaayusullavanaay muthirvayathil mariththaan; avan maranamataikirapothu noottaுmuppathu vayathaayirunthaan. But Jehoiada waxed old, and was full of days when he died; an hundred and thirty years old was he when he died.

16 Avan thaevanukkaakavum avanutaiya aalayaththirkaakavum isravaelukku nanmaiseythapatiyinaal, avanaith thaaveethin nakaraththil raajaakkalanntaiyilae adakkampannnninaarkal. And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God, and toward his house.

17 Yoythaa maranamatainthapinpu yoothaavin pirapukkal vanthu, raajaavai panninthukonndaarkal; appoluthu raajaa avarkalukkuch sevikoduththaan. Now after the death of Jehoiada came the princes of Judah, and made obeisance to the king. Then the king hearkened unto them.

18 Appatiyae avarkal thangal pithaakkalin thaevanaakiya karththarin aalayaththai vittuvittu, thoppu vikkirakangalaiyum silaikalaiyum seviththaarkal; appoluthu avarkal seytha inthak kuttaththinimiththam yoothaavinmaelum erusalaeminmaelum kadungaோpam moonndathu. And they left the house of the LORD God of their fathers, and served groves and idols: and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass.

19 Avarkalaith thammidaththirkuth thirumpappannnak Karththar avarkalidaththilae theerkkatharisikalai anuppinaar; avarkal janangalaith thidachchaாtchiyaakak katinthukonndaarkal; aanaalum avarkal sevikodukkavillai. Yet he sent prophets to them, to bring them again unto the LORD; and they testified against them: but they would not give ear.

20 Appoluthu thaevanutaiya aavi aasaariyanaakiya yoythaavin kumaaranaana sakariyaavinmael iranginathinaal, avan janaththirku ethirae nintu: neengal karththarutaiya karpanaikalai meeraுkirathu enna? Ithinaal neengal siththiperamaattirkalentu Dhevan sollukiraar; neengal karththarai vittuvittathinaal avar ungalaik kaividuvaar entan. 22 Appatiyae avanutaiya thakappanaakiya yoythaa thanakkuch seytha thayaiyai raajaavaakiya yovaas ninaiyaamal avanutaiya kumaaranaik kontupottan; ivan saakumpothu: Karththar athaip paarppaar, athaik kaetpaar entan. Thus Joash the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, The LORD look upon it, and require it.

23 Maraு varushaththilae seeriyaavin senaikal avanukku virothamaaka yoothaavilum erusalaemilum vanthu, janaththilirukkira pirapukkalaiyellaam aliththu, kollaiyitta avarkal utaimaikalaiyellaam thamaskuvin raajaavukku anuppinaarkal. 24 Seeriyaavin senai siraுkoottamaay vanthirunthaalum, avarkal thangal pithaakkalin thaevanaakiya karththarai vittuvittapatiyinaal, Karththar makaa periya senaiyai avarkal kaiyil oppukkoduththaar; avarkal yovaasukku thanndanai seythaarkal. 25 Avarkal avanai makaa vaethanaikkullaanavanaaka vittupponaarkal; avarkal purappattupponapinpu, avanutaiya ooliyakkaarar aasaariyanaakiya yoythaavutaiya kumaararin iraththappaliyinimiththam, avanukku virothamaayk kattuppaadupannnni, avan padukkaiyilae avanaik kontupottarkal; seththuppona avanaith thaaveethin nakaraththil adakkampannnninaarkal; aanaalum raajaakkalin kallaraikalil avanai vaikkavillai. And when they were departed from him, (for they left him in great diseases,) his own servants conspired against him for the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest, and slew him on his bed, and he died: and they buried him in the city of David, but they buried him not in the sepulchres of the kings.
