1 சவுல் மரித்தபின்பு, தாவீது அமலேக்கியரை முறிய அடித்து, சிக்லாகுக்குத் திரும்பிவந்து, இரண்டுநாள் அங்கே இருந்தபிற்பாடு, Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag;

2 மூன்றாம்நாளிலே ஒரு மனுஷன் சவுலின் பாளயத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு, தன் தரையின்மேல் புழρதியைப் போΟ்டுக் கƠξண்டு, தாՠπதினிடத்தில் வநύது, தரையοலே விழுந்து வணங்கினான். It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.

3 தாவீது அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ எங்கேயிருந்து வந்தாய் என்று கேட்டதற்கு அவன்: இஸ்ரவேலின் பாளயத்திலிருந்து தப்பிவந்தேன் என்றான். And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.

4 தாவீது அவனைப் பார்த்து: நடந்த செய்தி என்ன? சொல் என்று கேட்டதற்கு, அவன்: ஜனங்கள் யுத்தத்தைவிட்டு முறிந்தோடிப்போனார்கள்; ஜனங்களில் அநேகம்பேர் விழுந்து மடிந்துபோனார்கள்; சவுலும் அவர் குமாரனாகிய யோனத்தானும் மடிந்தார்கள் என்றான். And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.

5 சவுலும் அவர் குமாரனாகிய யோனத்தானும் மடிந்துபோனது உனக்கு எப்படித் தெரியும் என்று தாவீது தனக்கு அதை அறிவிக்கிற வாலிபனிடத்தில் கேட்டதற்கு, And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?

6 அந்த வாலிபன் நான் தற்செயலாய்க் கில்போவா மலைக்குப் போனேன்; அப்பொழுது இதோ, சவுல் தம்முடைய ஈட்டியின்மேல் சாய்ந்து கொண்டிருந்தார்; இரதங்களும் குதிரைவீரரும் அவரைத் தொடர்ந்து நெருங்கினார்கள். And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.

9 அவர் என்னை நோக்கி: நீ என்னண்டையில் கிட்டவந்து நின்று என்னைக் கொன்றுபோடு; என் பிராணன் முழுதும் இன்னும் போகாததினால் எனக்கு வேதனையாயிருக்கிறது என்றார். He said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me.

10 அப்பொழுது நான், அவர் விழுந்த பின்பு பிழைக்கமாட்டார் என்று நிச்சயித்து, அவரண்டையில் போய் நின்று அவரைக் கொன்றுபோட்டேன்; பிற்பாடு அவர் தலையின்மேல் இருந்த முடியையும் அவர் புயத்தில் இருந்த அஸ்தகடகத்தையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு அவைகளை இங்கே என் ஆண்டவனிடத்திற்குக்; கொண்டு வந்தேன் என்றான். So I stood upon him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord.

11 அப்பொழுது தாவீதும் அவனோடிருந்த சகல மனுஷரும் தங்கள் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு, Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him:

12 சவுலும் அவன் குமாரனகிய யோனத்தானும் கர்த்தருடைய ஜனங்களும், இஸ்ரவேல் குடும்பத்தாரும், பட்டயத்தாலே விழுந்தபடியினால் புலம்பி அழுது சாயங்காலமட்டும் உபவாசமாயிருந்தார்கள். And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.

13 தாவீது அதைத் தனக்கு அறிவித்த வாலிபனைப் பார்த்து: நீ எவ்விடத்தான் என்று கேட்டதற்கு, அவன்: நான் அந்நிய ஜாதியானுடைய மகன், நான் அமலேக்கியன் என்றான். And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.

14 தாவீது அவனை நோக்கி: கர்த்தர் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினவரைக் கொன்று போடும்படி நீ உன் கையை நீட்டப் பயப்படாமற்போனது என்ன என்று சொல்லி, And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD's anointed?

15 வாலிபரில் ஒருவனைக் கூப்பிட்டு நீ கிட்டப்போய் அவன்மேல் விழுந்து அவனை வெட்டு என்றான்; அவன் அவனை வெட்டினான்; அவன் செத்தான். And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.

16 தாவீது அவனைப் பார்த்து: உன் இரத்தப்பழி உன் தலையின்மேல் இருப்பதாக; கர்த்தர் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினவரை நான் கொன்றுபோட்டேன் என்று உன் வாயே உனக்கு விரோதமான சாட்சி சொல்லிற்று என்றான். And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD's anointed.

17 தாவீது சவுலின்பேரிலும் அவன் குமாரனாகிய யோனத்தானின்பேரிலும் புலம்பல் பாடினான். And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:

20 பெலிஸ்தரின் குமாரத்திகள் சந்தோஷப்படாதபடிக்கும் விருத்தசேதனம் இல்லாதவர்களின் குமாரத்திகள் களிகூராதபடிக்கும் அதைக் காத்பட்டணத்தில் அறிவியாமலும் அஸ்கலோனின் வீதிகளில் பிரஸ்தாபப்படுத்தாமலும் இருங்கள். Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.

21 கில்போவா மலைகளே உங்கள்மேல் பனியும் மழையும் பெய்யாமலும் காணிக்கைக்கு ஏற்ற பலன்தரும் வயல்கள் இராமலும் போவதாக; அங்கே பராக்கிரமசாலிகளுடைய கேடகம் அவமதிக்கப்பட்டது; சவுல் தைலத்தால் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணப்படாதவர்போல அவர் கேடகமும் அவமதிக்கப்பட்டதே. Ye mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew, neither let there be rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty is vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, as though he had not been anointed with oil.

22 கொலையுண்டவர்களின் இரத்தத்தைக் குடியாமலும், பராக்கிரமசாலிகளின் நிணத்தை உண்ணாமலும், யோனத்தானுடைய வில் பின்வாங்கினதில்லை; சவுலின் பட்டயம் வெறுமையாய்த் திரும்பினதில்லை. From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty.

23 உயிரோடே இருக்கையில் சவுலும் யோனத்தானும் பிரியமும் இன்பமுமாயிருந்தார்கள்; மரணத்திலும் பிரிந்து போனதில்லை; கழுகுகளைப்பார்க்கிலும் வேகமும் சிங்கங்களைப்பார்க்கிலும் பலமுமுள்ளவர்களாயிருந்தார்கள். Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.

24 இஸ்ரவேலின் குமாரத்திகளே, உங்களுக்கு இரத்தாம்பரத்தைச் சிறப்பாய் உடுப்பித்து, உங்கள் உடையின்மேல் பொன் ஆபரணங்களைத் தரிப்பித்த சவுலுக்காக அழுது புலம்புங்கள். Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with other delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel.

25 போர்முகத்தில் பராக்கிரமசாலிகள் விழுந்தார்களே, யோனத்தானே, உயரமான ஸ்தலங்களிலே வெட்டுண்டு போனாயே. How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, thou wast slain in thine high places.

26 என் சகோதாரனாகிய யோனத்தானே, உனக்காக நான் வியாகுலப்படுகிறேன்; நீ எனக்கு வெகு இன்பமாயிருந்தாய்; உன் சிநேகம் ஆச்சரியமாயிருந்தது; ஸ்தீரீகளின் சிநேகத்தைப்பார்க்கிலும் அதிகமாயிருந்தது. I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.

1 Savul mariththapinpu, David amalaekkiyarai muriya atiththu, siklaakukkuth thirumpivanthu, iranndunaal angae irunthapirpaadu, Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag;

2 Moontamnaalilae oru manushan savulin paalayaththilirunthu purappattu, than vasthirangalaik kiliththukkonndu, than tharaiyinmael pulaρthiyaip poΟ்duk kaƠξnndu, thaaՠπthinidaththil vanaύthu, tharaiyaοlae vilunthu vananginaan. It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.

3 David avanaip paarththu: nee engaeyirunthu vanthaay entu kaettatharku avan: isravaelin paalayaththilirunthu thappivanthaen entan. And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.

4 David avanaip paarththu: nadantha seythi enna? Sol entu kaettatharku, avan: janangal yuththaththaivittu murinthotipponaarkal; janangalil anaekampaer vilunthu matinthuponaarkal; savulum avar kumaaranaakiya yonaththaanum matinthaarkal entan. And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.

5 Savulum avar kumaaranaakiya yonaththaanum matinthuponathu unakku eppatith theriyum entu David thanakku athai arivikkira vaalipanidaththil kaettatharku, And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?

6 Antha vaalipan naan tharseyalaayk kilpovaa malaikkup ponaen; appoluthu itho, savul thammutaiya eettiyinmael saaynthu konntirunthaar; irathangalum kuthiraiveerarum avaraith thodarnthu nerunginaarkal. And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.

7 Avar thirumpip paarththu, ennaik kanndu kooppittar. Atharku naan: itho, irukkiraேn enten, And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am I.

8 Appoluthu avar: nee yaar entu ennaik kaettar; naan amalaekkiyan entu sonnaen. And he said unto me, Who art thou? And I answered him, I am an Amalekite.

9 Avar ennai Nnokki: nee ennanntaiyil kittavanthu nintu ennaik kontupodu; en piraanan muluthum innum pokaathathinaal enakku vaethanaiyaayirukkirathu entar. He said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me.

10 Appoluthu naan, avar viluntha pinpu pilaikkamaattar entu nichchayiththu, avaranntaiyil poy nintu avaraik kontupottaேn; pirpaadu avar thalaiyinmael iruntha mutiyaiyum avar puyaththil iruntha asthakadakaththaiyum eduththukkonndu avaikalai ingae en aanndavanidaththirkuk; konndu vanthaen entan. So I stood upon him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord.

11 Appoluthu Davidm avanotiruntha sakala manusharum thangal vasthirangalaik kiliththukkonndu, Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him:

12 Savulum avan kumaaranakiya yonaththaanum karththarutaiya janangalum, Israel kudumpaththaarum, pattayaththaalae vilunthapatiyinaal pulampi aluthu saayangaalamattum upavaasamaayirunthaarkal. And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.

13 David athaith thanakku ariviththa vaalipanaip paarththu: nee evvidaththaan entu kaettatharku, avan: naan anniya jaathiyaanutaiya makan, naan amalaekkiyan entan. And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.

14 David avanai Nnokki: Karththar apishaekampannnninavaraik kontu podumpati nee un kaiyai neettap payappadaamarponathu enna entu solli, And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD's anointed?

15 Vaaliparil oruvanaik kooppittu nee kittappoy avanmael vilunthu avanai vettu entan; avan avanai vettinaan; avan seththaan. And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.

16 David avanaip paarththu: un iraththappali un thalaiyinmael iruppathaaka; Karththar apishaekampannnninavarai naan kontupottaேn entu un vaayae unakku virothamaana saatchi sollittaு entan. And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD's anointed.

17 David savulinpaerilum avan kumaaranaakiya yonaththaaninpaerilum pulampal paatinaan. And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:

18 (vilviththaiyai yoothaa puththirarukkuk kattaுkkodukkumpati kattalaiyittan; athu yaaserin pusthakaththil eluthiyirukkirathu.) avan paatina pulampalaavathu: (Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.)

19 Isravaelin alangaaram uyarntha sthaanangalil athamaayittaு paraakkiramasaalikal vilunthuponaarkal. The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen!

20 Pelistharin kumaaraththikal santhoshappadaathapatikkum viruththasethanam illaathavarkalin kumaaraththikal kalikooraathapatikkum athaik kaathpattanaththil ariviyaamalum askalonin veethikalil pirasthaapappaduththaamalum irungal. Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.

21 Kilpovaa malaikalae ungalmael paniyum malaiyum peyyaamalum kaannikkaikku aetta palantharum vayalkal iraamalum povathaaka; angae paraakkiramasaalikalutaiya kaedakam avamathikkappattathu; savul thailaththaal apishaekampannnappadaathavarpola avar kaedakamum avamathikkappattathae. Ye mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew, neither let there be rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty is vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, as though he had not been anointed with oil.

22 Kolaiyunndavarkalin iraththaththaik kutiyaamalum, paraakkiramasaalikalin ninaththai unnnnaamalum, yonaththaanutaiya vil pinvaanginathillai; savulin pattayam veraுmaiyaayth thirumpinathillai. From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty.

23 Uyirotae irukkaiyil savulum yonaththaanum piriyamum inpamumaayirunthaarkal; maranaththilum pirinthu ponathillai; kalukukalaippaarkkilum vaekamum singangalaippaarkkilum palamumullavarkalaayirunthaarkal. Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.

24 Isravaelin kumaaraththikalae, ungalukku iraththaamparaththaich sirappaay uduppiththu, ungal utaiyinmael pon aaparanangalaith tharippiththa savulukkaaka aluthu pulampungal. Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with other delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel.

25 Pormukaththil paraakkiramasaalikal vilunthaarkalae, yonaththaanae, uyaramaana sthalangalilae vettunndu ponaayae. How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, thou wast slain in thine high places.

26 En sakothaaranaakiya yonaththaanae, unakkaaka naan viyaakulappadukiraேn; nee enakku veku inpamaayirunthaay; un sinaekam aachchariyamaayirunthathu; stheereekalin sinaekaththaippaarkkilum athikamaayirunthathu. I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.

27 Paraakkiramasaalikal vilunthu ponaarkalae; yuththa aayuthangal ellaam alinthupoyitte, entu paatinaan. How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!
