Ecclesiastes 10 in Tamil

1 செத்த ஈக்கள் தைலக்காரனுடைய பரிமளதைலத்தை நாறிக் கெட்டுப்போகப்பண்ணும்; ஞானத்திலும் கனத்திலும் பேர்பெற்றவனைச் சொற்ப மதியீனமும் அப்படியே செய்யும். Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour.

2 ஞானியின் இருதயம் வலதுகையிலும், மூடனின் இருதயமோ இடதுகையிலும் இருக்கும். A wise man's heart is at his right hand; but a fool's heart at his left.

3 மூடன் வழியிலே நடக்கிறபோதும் மதிகெட்டவனாயிருக்கிறான்; தான் மூடனென்று அவன் எல்லாருக்கும் சொல்லுகிறான். Yea also, when he that is a fool walketh by the way, his wisdom faileth him, and he saith to every one that he is a fool.

4 அதிபதியின் கோபம் உன்மேல் எழும்பினால் உன் ஸ்தானத்தை விட்டு விலகாதே; இணங்குதல் பெரிய குற்றங்களையும் அமர்த்திப்போடும். If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; for yielding pacifieth great offences.

5 நான் சூரியனுக்குக்கீழே கண்ட ஒரு தீங்குண்டு, அது அதிபதியினிடத்தில் தோன்றும் தப்பிதமே. There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from the ruler:

6 மூடர் மகா உயர்ந்த நிலையில் வைக்கப்படுகிறார்கள்; சீமான்களோ தாழ்ந்தநிலையில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிறார்கள். Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place.

7 வேலைக்காரர் குதிரைகள்மேல் ஏறிப்போகிறதையும், பிரபுக்கள் வேலைக்காரர்போல் தரையிலே நடக்கிறதையும் கண்டேன். I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth.

8 படுகுழியை வெட்டுகிறவன் அதிலே விழுவான்; அடைப்பைப் பிடுங்குகிறவனைப் பாம்பு கடிக்கும். He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.

9 கல்லுகளைப் பேРύக்கிறவன் அவைகளாҠύ காயப்படுவான்; மரΤ்தைப் பிளக்கிறவன் அதினால் மோசப்படுவான். Whoso removeth stones shall be hurt therewith; and he that cleaveth wood shall be endangered thereby.

10 இருப்பு ஆயுதம் மழுங்கலாயிருக்க, அதை ஒருவன் தீட்டாமற்போனால், அதிகபலத்தைப் பிரயோகம்பண்ணவேண்டியதாகும்; ஆகையால் ஒரு காரியத்தைச் செவ்வையாய்ச் செய்வதற்கு ஞானமே பிரதானம். If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.

11 தடைகட்டப்படாத பாம்பு கடிக்குமே, அலப்புவாயனும் அதற்கு ஒப்பானவன். Surely the serpent will bite without enchantment; and a babbler is no better.

12 ஞானியினுடைய வாய்மொழிகள் தயையுள்ளவைகள்; மூடனுடைய உதடுகளோ அவனையே விழுங்கும். The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.

13 அவன் வாய்மொழிகளின் துவக்கம் மதியீனமும், அவன் வாக்கின் முடிவு கொடிய பைத்தியமுமாம். The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness: and the end of his talk is mischievous madness.

14 மூடன் மிகுதியாய்ப் பேசுகிறான், நடக்கப்போகிறது இன்னதென்று மனுஷன் அறியான்; தனக்குப் பிற்பாடு சம்பவிக்கப்போகிறதை அவனுக்கு அறிவிப்பவன் யார்? A fool also is full of words: a man cannot tell what shall be; and what shall be after him, who can tell him?

15 ஊருக்குப் போகும் வழியை மூடன் அறியாததினால், அவன் தொல்லை ஒவ்வொருவரையும் இளைக்கப்பண்ணும். The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city.

16 ராஜா சிறுபிள்ளையுமாய், பிரபுக்கள் அதிகாலமே உண்கிறவர்களுமாயிருக்கப்பட்ட தேசமே, உனக்கு ஐயோ! Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!

17 ராஜா குலமகனுமாய், பிரபுக்கள் வெறிக்க உண்ணாமல் பெலன்கொள்ள ஏற்றவேளையில் உண்கிறவர்களுமாயிருக்கப்பட்ட தேசமே, நீ பாக்கியமுள்ளது. Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!

18 மிகுந்த சோம்பலினால் மேல்மச்சுப் பழுதாகும்; கைகளின் நெகிழ்வினாலே வீடு ஒழுக்காகும். By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.

19 விருந்து சந்தோஷத்துக்கென்று செய்யப்படும்; திராட்சரசம் ஜீவனுள்ளோரைக் களிப்பாக்கும்; பணமோ எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் உதவும். A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.

20 ராஜாவை உன் மனதிலும் நிந்தியாதே, ஐசுவரியவானை உன் படுக்கையிலும் நிந்தியாதே; ஆகாயத்துப்பறவை அந்தச் சத்தத்தைக் கொண்டுபோகும், செட்டைகளுள்ளது அந்தச் செய்தியை அறிவிக்கும். Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.

1 Seththa eekkal thailakkaaranutaiya parimalathailaththai naarik kettuppokappannnum; njaanaththilum kanaththilum paerpettavanaich sorpa mathiyeenamum appatiyae seyyum. 2 Njaaniyin iruthayam valathukaiyilum, moodanin iruthayamo idathukaiyilum irukkum. A wise man's heart is at his right hand; but a fool's heart at his left.

3 Moodan valiyilae nadakkirapothum mathikettavanaayirukkiraan; thaan moodanentu avan ellaarukkum sollukiraan. Yea also, when he that is a fool walketh by the way, his wisdom faileth him, and he saith to every one that he is a fool.

4 Athipathiyin kopam unmael elumpinaal un sthaanaththai vittu vilakaathae; inanguthal periya kuttangalaiyum amarththippodum. If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; for yielding pacifieth great offences.

5 Naan sooriyanukkukgeelae kannda oru theengunndu, athu athipathiyinidaththil thontum thappithamae. There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from the ruler:

6 Moodar makaa uyarntha nilaiyil vaikkappadukiraarkal; seemaankalo thaalnthanilaiyil utkaarnthirukkiraarkal. Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place.

7 Vaelaikkaarar kuthiraikalmael aerippokirathaiyum, pirapukkal vaelaikkaararpol tharaiyilae nadakkirathaiyum kanntaen. I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth.

8 Padukuliyai vettukiravan athilae viluvaan; ataippaip pidungukiravanaip paampu katikkum. He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.

9 Kallukalaip paeРύkkiravan avaikalaaҠύ kaayappaduvaan; maraΤ்thaip pilakkiravan athinaal mosappaduvaan. Whoso removeth stones shall be hurt therewith; and he that cleaveth wood shall be endangered thereby.

10 Iruppu aayutham malungalaayirukka, athai oruvan theettamarponaal, athikapalaththaip pirayokampannnavaenntiyathaakum; aakaiyaal oru kaariyaththaich sevvaiyaaych seyvatharku njaanamae pirathaanam. 11 Thataikattappadaatha paampu katikkumae, alappuvaayanum atharku oppaanavan. Surely the serpent will bite without enchantment; and a babbler is no better.

12 Njaaniyinutaiya vaaymolikal thayaiyullavaikal; moodanutaiya uthadukalo avanaiyae vilungum. The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.

13 Avan vaaymolikalin thuvakkam mathiyeenamum, avan vaakkin mutivu kotiya paiththiyamumaam. The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness: and the end of his talk is mischievous madness.

14 Moodan mikuthiyaayp paesukiraan, nadakkappokirathu innathentu manushan ariyaan; thanakkup pirpaadu sampavikkappokirathai avanukku arivippavan yaar? A fool also is full of words: a man cannot tell what shall be; and what shall be after him, who can tell him?

15 Oorukkup pokum valiyai moodan ariyaathathinaal, avan thollai ovvoruvaraiyum ilaikkappannnum. The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city.

16 Raajaa siraுpillaiyumaay, pirapukkal athikaalamae unnkiravarkalumaayirukkappatta thaesamae, unakku aiyo! Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!

17 Raajaa kulamakanumaay, pirapukkal verikka unnnnaamal pelankolla aettavaelaiyil unnkiravarkalumaayirukkappatta thaesamae, nee paakkiyamullathu. Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!

18 Mikuntha sompalinaal maelmachchup paluthaakum; kaikalin nekilvinaalae veedu olukkaakum. By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.

19 Virunthu santhoshaththukkentu seyyappadum; thiraatcharasam jeevanulloraik kalippaakkum; panamo ellaavattirkum uthavum. A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.

20 Raajaavai un manathilum ninthiyaathae, aisuvariyavaanai un padukkaiyilum ninthiyaathae; aakaayaththupparavai anthach saththaththaik konndupokum, settaைkalullathu anthach seythiyai arivikkum. Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.
