பின்பு நான், ஞானமானது என்ன என்றும், பைத்தியமும் மதியீனமும் என்ன என்றும் பார்த்து அறியும்படி திரும்பினேன்; ராஜாவுக்குப் பின்வரும் மனுஷன் என்ன செய்யக்கூடும்? செய்ததையே செய்வான்.

ஒரு அரசனால் செய்ய முடிந்ததைவிட ஒரு மனிதனால் அதிகமாகச் செய்யமுடியாது. சில அரசர்கள் ஏற்கெனவே நீங்கள் செய்யவிரும்புவதையே செய்திருக்கிறார்கள். அந்த அரசர்கள் செய்தவையும் காலவிரயம் என்று நான் கற்றுக்கொண்டேன். எனவே மீண்டும் நான் ஞானமுள்ளவனாக இருப்பதைப்பற்றியும், அறிவற்றவனாக இருப்பதைப்பற்றியும் பைத்தியக்காரத்தனமான செயல்களைப்பற்றியும் எண்ணினேன்.

and madness, וְהוֹלֵל֖וֹת hôlēlâ hoh-lay-LA
and folly: וְסִכְל֑וּת siklût seek-LOOT
for כִּ֣י׀ kî kee
what מֶ֣ה mâ ma
the man הָאָדָ֗ם ʾādām ah-DAHM
that cometh שֶׁיָּבוֹא֙ bôʾ boh
after אַחֲרֵ֣י ʾaḥar ah-HAHR
the king? הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ melek meh-LEK
אֵ֥ת ʾēt ate
that which אֲשֶׁר ʾăšer uh-SHER
hath been already כְּבָ֖ר kĕbār keh-VAHR
done. עָשֽׂוּהוּ׃ ʿāśâ ah-SA
