அவர்கள் இவர்களுடைய நரகலான விக்கிரகங்களுக்கு முன்பாக நின்று இவர்களுக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்து, இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தார் அக்கிரமத்தில் விழப்பண்ணினபடியினால், நான் என் கையை அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாய் உயர்த்தினேன், அவர்கள் தங்கள் அக்கிரமத்தைச் சுமப்பார்கள் என்று கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

ஆனால் அந்த லேவியர்கள் எனக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவம் செய்வதற்கு உதவினார்கள்! அவர்கள், விக்கிரகங்களைத் தொழுதுக்கொள்ள ஜனங்களுக்கு உதவி செய்தார்கள்! எனவே நான் அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாக இந்த ஆணையைச் செய்கிறேன்: ‘அவர்கள் தமது பாவங்களுக்காகத் தண்டிக்கப்படுவார்கள்.’” எனது கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் இவற்றைச் சொன்னார்.
