அக்காலத்திலே நதிக்கு இப்புறத்தில் இருக்கிற நாடுகளுக்கு அதிபதியாகிய தத்னாய் என்பவனும், சேத்தார் பொஸ்னாயும், அவர்கள் வகையராவும் அவர்களிடத்துக்கு வந்து, இந்த ஆலயத்தைக் கட்டவும், இந்த மதிலை எடுப்பிக்கவும் உங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டவன் யார் என்று அவர்களைக் கேட்டார்கள்.

அப்போது தத்னாய் ஐபிராத்து ஆற்றுக்கு மேற்குப் பகுதிக்கு ஆளுநராக இருந்தான். தத்னாயும், சேத்தார் பொஸ்னாயும், அவர்களுடன் இருந்தவர்களும் செருபாபேலிடமும், யெசுவா மற்றும் அவர்களோடு இருந்தவர்களிடம் சென்றார்கள். தத்னாயும், அவனோடு வந்தவர்களும் செருபாபேல் மற்றும் அவனுடனிருந்தவர்களிடம், “இந்த ஆலயத்தை மீண்டும் புதிதாகக் கட்ட உங்களுக்கு யார் அனுமதி கொடுத்தது?” என்று கேட்டார்கள்.
