1 இப்போது கூப்பிடும், உமக்கு உத்தரவு கொடுப்பார் உண்டோ பார்ப்போம்? பரிசுத்தவான்களில் யாரை நோக்கிப் பார்ப்பீர். Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?

2 கோபம் நிர்மூடனைக் கொல்லும்; பொறாமை புத்தியில்லாதவனை அதம்பண்ணும். For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.

3 நிர்மூடன் ஒருவன் வேரூன்றுகிறதை நான் கண்டு உடனே அவன் வாசஸ்தலத்தைச் சபித்தேன். I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

4 அவன் பிள்ளைகள் இரட்சிப்புக்குத் தூரமாகி, தப்புவிப்பாரில்லாமல், வாசலிலே நொறுக்கப்பட்டார்கள். His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.

5 பசித்தவன் அவன் விளைச்சலை முட்செடிகளுக்குள்ளுமிருந்து பறித்துத் தின்றான்; பறிகாரன் அவன் ஆஸ்தியை விழுங்கினான். Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.

6 தீங்கு புழுதியிலிருந்து உண்டாகிறதுமில்லை, வருத்தம் மண்ணிலிருந்து முளைக்கிறதுமில்லை. Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;

7 அக்கினிப்பொறிகள் மேலே பறக்கிறதுபோல, மனுஷன் வருத்தம் அநுபவிக்கப் பிறந்திருக்கிறான். Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

8 ஆனாலும் நான் தேவனை நாடி, என் நியாயத்தை தேவனிடத்தில் ஒப்புவிப்பேன். I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:

9 ஆராய்ந்து முடியாத பெரிய காரியங்களையும், எண்ணிமுடியாத அதிசயங்களையும் அவர் செய்கிறார். Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:

10 தாழ்ந்தவர்களை உயரத்தில் வைத்து, துக்கிக்கிறவர்களை இரட்சித்து உயர்த்துகிறார். Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:

11 அவர் பூமியின்மேல் மழையை வருஷிக்கப்பண்ணி, வெளிநிலங்களின்மேல் தண்ணீர்களை வருவிக்கிறார். To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

12 தந்திரக்காரரின் கைகள் காரியத்தை முடிய நடத்தக் கூடாதபடிக்கு, அவர்களுடைய உபாயங்களை அவர் அபத்தமாக்குகிறார். He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

13 அவர் ஞானிகளை அவர்களுடைய தந்திரத்திலே பிடிக்கிறார், திரியாவரக்காரரின் ஆலோசனை கவிழ்க்கப்படும். He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

14 அவர்கள் பகற்காலத்திலே அந்தகாரத்துக்குள்ளாகி, மத்தியானவேளையிலே இரவில் தடவுகிறதுபோல தடவித் திரிகிறார்கள். They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night.

15 எளியவனை அவர்கள் வாயிலிருக்கிற பட்டயத்துக்கும், பெலவானின் கைக்கும் விலக்கி இரட்சிக்கிறார். But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.

16 அதினால் தரித்திரனுக்கு நம்பிக்கை உண்டு; தீமையானது தன் வாயை மூடும். So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.

17 இதோ, தேவன் தண்டிக்கிற மனுஷன் பாக்கியவான், ஆகையால் சர்வவல்லவருடைய சிட்சையை அற்பமாக எண்ணாதிரும். Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

18 அவர் காயப்படுத்திக் காயங்கட்டுகிறார்; அவர் அடிக்கிறார், அவருடைய கை ஆற்றுகிறது. For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

19 ஆறு இக்கட்டுகளுக்கு உம்மை நீங்கலாக்குவார்; ஏழாவதிலும் பொல்லாப்பு உம்மைத் தொடாது. He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

20 பஞ்சகாலத்திலே அவர் உம்மை மரணத்துக்கும், யுத்தத்திலே பட்டயத்தின் வெட்டுக்கும் விலக்கி மீட்பார். In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.

21 நாவின் சவுக்குக்கும் மறைக்கப்படுவீர்; பாழாக்குதல் வரும்போதும் பயப்படாமலிருப்பீர். Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.

22 பாழாக்குதலையும் பஞ்சத்தையும் பார்த்து நகைப்பீர்; காட்டுமிருகங்களுக்கும் பயப்படாமலிருப்பீர். At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

23 வெளியின் கல்லுகளோடும் உமக்கு உடன்படிக்கையிருக்கும்; வெளியின் மிருகங்களும் உம்மோடே சமாதானமாயிருக்கும். For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

24 உம்முடைய கூடாரம் சமாதானத்தோடிருக்கக் காண்பீர்; உம்முடைய வாசஸ்தலத்தை விசாரிக்குபோது குறைவைக் காணமாட்டீர். And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.

25 உம்முடைய சந்தானம் பெருகி, உம்முடைய சந்ததியார் பூமியின் பூண்டுகளைப்போல இருப்பார்கள் என்பதை அறிந்துகொள்வீர். Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.

26 தானியம் ஏற்றகாலத்திலே அம்பராத்தில் சேருகிறதுபோல, முதிர்வயதிலே கல்லறையில் சேருவீர். Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.

27 இதோ, நாங்கள் ஆராய்ந்து அறிந்தது இதுதான்; காரியம் இப்படி இருக்கிறது; இதை நீர் கேட்டு உமக்கு நன்மையுண்டாக அறிந்துகொள்ளும் என்றான். Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

1 Ippothu kooppidum, umakku uththaravu koduppaar unntoo paarppom? Parisuththavaankalil yaarai Nnokkip paarppeer. Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?

2 Kopam nirmoodanaik kollum; poraamai puththiyillaathavanai athampannnum. For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.

3 Nirmoodan oruvan vaeroontukirathai naan kanndu udanae avan vaasasthalaththaich sapiththaen. I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

4 Avan pillaikal iratchippukkuth thooramaaki, thappuvippaarillaamal, vaasalilae noraுkkappattarkal. His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.

5 Pasiththavan avan vilaichchalai mutchedikalukkullumirunthu pariththuth thintan; parikaaran avan aasthiyai vilunginaan. Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.

6 Theengu puluthiyilirunthu unndaakirathumillai, varuththam mannnnilirunthu mulaikkirathumillai. Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;

7 Akkinipporikal maelae parakkirathupola, manushan varuththam anupavikkap piranthirukkiraan. Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

8 Aanaalum naan thaevanai naati, en niyaayaththai thaevanidaththil oppuvippaen. I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:

9 Aaraaynthu mutiyaatha periya kaariyangalaiyum, ennnnimutiyaatha athisayangalaiyum avar seykiraar. Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:

10 Thaalnthavarkalai uyaraththil vaiththu, thukkikkiravarkalai iratchiththu uyarththukiraar. Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:

11 Avar poomiyinmael malaiyai varushikkappannnni, velinilangalinmael thannnneerkalai varuvikkiraar. To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

12 Thanthirakkaararin kaikal kaariyaththai mutiya nadaththak koodaathapatikku, avarkalutaiya upaayangalai avar apaththamaakkukiraar. He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

13 Avar njaanikalai avarkalutaiya thanthiraththilae pitikkiraar, thiriyaavarakkaararin aalosanai kavilkkappadum. He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

14 Avarkal pakarkaalaththilae anthakaaraththukkullaaki, maththiyaanavaelaiyilae iravil thadavukirathupola thadavith thirikiraarkal. They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night.

15 Eliyavanai avarkal vaayilirukkira pattayaththukkum, pelavaanin kaikkum vilakki iratchikkiraar. But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.

16 Athinaal thariththiranukku nampikkai unndu; theemaiyaanathu than vaayai moodum. So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.

17 Itho, Dhevan thanntikkira manushan paakkiyavaan, aakaiyaal sarvavallavarutaiya sitchaைyai arpamaaka ennnnaathirum. Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

18 Avar kaayappaduththik kaayangattukiraar; avar atikkiraar, avarutaiya kai aattaுkirathu. For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

19 Aaraு ikkattukalukku ummai neengalaakkuvaar; aelaavathilum pollaappu ummaith thodaathu. He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

20 Panjakaalaththilae avar ummai maranaththukkum, yuththaththilae pattayaththin vettukkum vilakki meetpaar. In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.

21 Naavin savukkukkum maraikkappaduveer; paalaakkuthal varumpothum payappadaamaliruppeer. Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.

22 Paalaakkuthalaiyum panjaththaiyum paarththu nakaippeer; kaattumirukangalukkum payappadaamaliruppeer. At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

23 Veliyin kallukalodum umakku udanpatikkaiyirukkum; veliyin mirukangalum ummotae samaathaanamaayirukkum. For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

24 Ummutaiya koodaaram samaathaanaththotirukkak kaannpeer; ummutaiya vaasasthalaththai visaarikkupothu kuraivaik kaanamaattir. And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.

25 Ummutaiya santhaanam peruki, ummutaiya santhathiyaar poomiyin poonndukalaippola iruppaarkal enpathai arinthukolveer. Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.

26 Thaaniyam aettakaalaththilae amparaaththil serukirathupola, muthirvayathilae kallaraiyil seruveer. Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.

27 Itho, naangal aaraaynthu arinthathu ithuthaan; kaariyam ippati irukkirathu; ithai neer kaettu umakku nanmaiyunndaaka arinthukollum entan. Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.
