John 19 in Tamil

1 அப்பொழுது பிலாத்து இயேசுவைப்பிடித்து வாரினால் அடிப்பித்தான். Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.

2 போர்ச்சேவகர் முள்ளுகளினால் ஒரு முடியைப் பின்னி அவர் சிரசின்மேல் வைத்து, சிவப்பான ஒரு அங்கியை அவருக்கு உடுத்தி: And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,

3 யூதருடைய ராஜாவே, வாழ்க என்று சொல்லி, அவரைக் கையினால் அடித்தார்கள். And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

4 பிலாத்து மறுபடியும் வெளியே வந்து: நான் இவனிடத்தில் ஒரு குற்றமும் காணேன் என்று நீங்கள் அறியும்படிக்கு, இதோ, உங்களிடத்தில் இவனை வெளியே கொண்டுவருகிறேன் என்றான். Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.

5 இயேசு, முள்முடியும் சிவப்பங்கியும் தரித்தவராய், வெளியே வந்தார். அப்பொழுது பிலாத்து அவர்களை நோக்கி: இதோ, இந்த மனுஷன் என்றான். Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!

6 பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் சேவகரும் அவரைக் கண்டபோது: சிலுவையில் அறையும் சிலுவையில் அறையும் என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள். அதற்குப் பிலாத்து: நீங்களே இவனைக் கொண்டுபோய்ச் சிலுவையில் அறையுங்கள், நான் இவனிடத்தில் ஒரு குற்றமும் காணேன் என்றான். When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.

7 யூதர்கள் அவனுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: எங்களுக்கு ஒரு நியாயப்பிரமாணமுண்டு, இவன் தன்னை தேவனுடைய குமாரனென்று சொன்னபடியினால், அந்த நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படியே, இவன் சாகவேண்டும் என்றார்கள். The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

8 பிலாத்து இந்த வார்த்தையைக் கேட்டபொழுது அதிகமாய்ப் பயந்து, When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;

9 மறுபடியும் அரமனைக்குள்ளே போய், இயேசுவை நோக்கி: நீ எங்கேயிருந்து வந்தவன் என்றான். அதற்கு இயேசு மாறுத்தரம் ஒன்றும் சொல்லவில்லை. And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.

10 அப்பொழுது பிலாத்து: நீ என்னோடே பேசுகிறதில்லையா உன்னைச் சிலுவையில் அறைய எனக்கு அதிகாரமுண்டென்றும், உன்னை விடுதலைபண்ண எனக்கு அதிகாரமுண்டென்றும் உனக்குத் தெரியாதா என்றான். Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?

11 இயேசு பிரதியுத்தரமாக: பரத்திலிருந்து உமக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படாதிருந்தால், என்மேல் உமக்கு ஒரு அதிகாரமுமிராது; ஆனபடியினாலே என்னை உம்மிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தவனுக்கு அதிக பாவமுண்டு என்றார். Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

12 அதுமுதல் பிலாத்து அவரை விடுதலைபண்ண வகைதேடினான். யூதர்கள் அவனை நோக்கி: இவனை விடுதலைபண்ணினால் நீர் இராயனுக்குச் சிநேகிதனல்ல; தன்னை ராஜாவென்கிறவனோ அவன் ராயனுக்கு விரோதி என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள். And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar's friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.

13 பிலாத்து இந்த வார்த்தையைக் கேட்டபொழுது, இயேசுவை வெளியே அழைத்துவந்து, தளவரிசைப்படுத்தின மேடையென்றும், எபிரெயு பாஷையிலே கபத்தா என்றும் சொல்லப்பட்ட இடத்திலே, நியாயாசனத்தின்மேல் உட்கார்ந்தான். When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.

14 அந்த நாள் பஸ்காவுக்கு ஆயத்தநாளும் ஏறக்குறைய ஆறுமணி நேரமுமாயிருந்தது; அப்பொழுது அவன் யூதர்களை நோக்கி: இதோ, உங்கள் ராஜா என்றான். And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!

15 அவர்கள்: இவனை அகற்றும் அகற்றும், சிலுவையில் அறையும் என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள். அதற்குப் பிலாத்து: உங்கள் ராஜாவை நான் சிலுவையில் அறையலாமா என்றான். பிரதான ஆசாரியர் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: இராயனேயல்லாமல் எங்களுக்கு வேறே ராஜா இல்லை என்றார்கள். But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

16 அப்பொழுது அவரைச் சிலுவையில் அறையும்படிக்கு அவர்களிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தான். அவர்கள் இயேசுவைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள். Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.

17 அவர் தம்முடைய சிலுவையைச் சுமந்துகொண்டு, எபிரெயு பாஷையிலே கொல்கொதா என்று சொல்லப்படும் கபாலஸ்தலம் என்கிற இடத்திற்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனார். And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:

18 அங்கே அவரைச் சிலுவையில் அறைந்தார்கள்; அவரோடேகூட வேறிரண்டுபேரை இரண்டு பக்கங்களிலும் இயேசுவை நடுவிலுமாகச் சிலுவைகளில் அறைந்தார்கள். Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

19 பிலாத்து ஒரு மேல்விலாசத்தை எழுதி, சிலுவையின்மேல் போடுவித்தான். அதில் நசரேயனாகிய இயேசு யூதருடைய ராஜா என்று எழுதியிருந்தது. And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.

20 இயேசு சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்ட இடம் நகரத்திற்குச் சமீபமாயிருந்தபடியினால், யூதரில் அநேகர் அந்த மேல்விலாசத்தை வாசித்தார்கள்; அது எபிரெயு கிரேக்கு லத்தீன் பாஷைகளில் எழுதியிருந்தது. This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.

21 அப்பொழுது யூதருடைய பிரதான ஆசாரியர் பிலாத்துவை நோக்கி: யூதருடைய ராஜா என்று நீர் எழுதாமல், தான் யூதருடைய ராஜா என்று அவன் சொன்னதாக எழுதும் என்றார்கள். Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.

22 பிலாத்து பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நானெழுதினது எழுதினதே என்றான். Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.

23 போர்ச் சேவகர் இயேசுவைச் சிலுவையில் அறைந்தபின்பு, அவருடைய வஸ்திரங்களை எடுத்து, ஒவ்வொரு சேவகனுக்கு ஒவ்வொரு பங்காக நாலு பங்காக்கினார்கள்; அங்கியையும் எடுத்தார்கள், அந்த அங்கி, தையலில்லாமல் மேலே தொடங்கி முழுதும் நெய்யப்பட்டதாயிருந்தது. Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

24 அவர்கள்: இதை நாம் கிழியாமல், யாருக்கு வருமோ என்று இதைக்குறித்துச் சீட்டுப்போடுவோம் என்று ஒருவரோடொருவர் பேசிக்கொண்டார்கள். என் வஸ்திரங்களைத் தங்களுக்குள்ளே பங்கிட்டு, என் உடையின்மேல் சீட்டுப்போட்டார்கள் என்கிற வேதவாக்கியம் நிறைவேறத்தக்கதாகப் போர்ச்சேவகர் இப்படிச் செய்தார்கள். They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

25 இயேசுவின் சிலுவையினருகே அவருடைய தாயும், அவருடைய தாயின் சகோதரி கிலெயோப்பா மரியாளும், மகதலேனா மரியாளும் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தார்கள். Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.

26 அப்பொழுது இயேசு தம்முடைய தாயையும் அருகே நின்ற தமக்கு அன்பாயிருந்த சீஷனையும் கண்டு, தம்முடைய தாயை நோக்கி: ஸ்திரீயே, அதோ, உன் மகன் என்றார். When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

27 பின்பு அந்தச் சீஷனை நோக்கி: அதோ, உன் தாய் என்றார் அந்நேரத்தில் அந்தச் சீஷன் அவளைத் தன்னிடமாய் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டான். Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

28 அதன்பின்பு, எல்லாம் முடிந்தது என்று இயேசு அறிந்து, வேதவாக்கியம் நிறைவேறத்தக்கதாக: தாகமாயிருக்கிறேன் என்றார். After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

29 காடி நிறைந்த பாத்திரம் அங்கே வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது; அவர்கள் கடற்காளானைக் காடியிலே தோய்த்து, ஈசோப்புத்தண்டில் மாட்டி, அவர் வாயினிடத்தில் நீட்டிக்கொடுத்தார்கள். Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

30 இயேசு காடியை வாங்கினபின்பு, முடிந்தது என்று சொல்லி, தலையைச்சாய்த்து, ஆவியை ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார். When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

31 அந்த நாள் பெரிய ஓய்வுநாளுக்கு ஆயத்தநாளாயிருந்தபடியினால், உடல்கள் அந்த ஓய்வுநாளிலே சிலுவைகளில் இராதபடிக்கு, யூதர்கள் பிலாத்துவினிடத்தில் போய், அவர்களுடைய காலெலும்புகளை முறிக்கும்படிக்கும், உடல்களை எடுத்துப்போடும்படிக்கும் உத்தரவு கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள். The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

32 அந்தப்படி போர்ச்சேவகர் வந்து, அவருடனேகூடச் சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்ட முந்தினவனுடைய காலெலும்புகளையும் மற்றவனுடைய கால்களையும் முறித்தார்கள். Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.

33 அவர்கள் இயேசுவினிடத்தில் வந்து, அவர் மரித்திருக்கிறதைக் கண்டு, அவருடைய காலெலும்புகளை முறிக்கவில்லை. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:

34 ஆகிலும் போர்ச்சேவகரில் ஒருவன் ஈட்டியினாலே அவருடைய விலாவில் குத்தினான்; உடனே இரத்தமும் தண்ணீரும் புறப்பட்டது. But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

35 அதைக் கண்டவன் சாட்சி கொடுக்கிறான், அவனுடைய சாட்சி மெய்யாயிருக்கிறது; நீங்கள் விசுவாசிக்கும்படி, தான் சொல்லுகிறது மெய்யென்று அவன் அறிந்திருக்கிறான். And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.

36 அவருடைய எலும்புகளில் ஒன்றும் முறிக்கப்படுவதில்லை என்கிற வேதவாக்கியம் நிறைவேறும்படி இவைகள் நடந்தது. For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

37 அல்லாமலும் தாங்கள் குத்தினவரை நோக்கிப்பார்ப்பார்கள் என்று வேறொரு வேதவாக்கியம் சொல்லுகிறது. And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

38 இவைகளுக்குப்பின்பு அரிமத்தியா ஊரானும், யூதருக்குப் பயந்ததினால் இயேசுவுக்கு அந்தரங்க சீஷனுமாகிய யோசேப்பு இயேசுவின் சரீரத்தை எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோகும்படி பிலாத்துவினிடத்தில் உத்தரவு கேட்டான்; பிலாத்து உத்தரவு கொடுத்தான். ஆகையால் அவன் வந்து, இயேசுவின் சரீரத்தை எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோனான். And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.

39 ஆரம்பத்திலே ஒரு இராத்திரியில் இயேசுவினிடத்தில் வந்திருந்த நிக்கொதேமு என்பவன் வெள்ளைப்போளமும் கரியபோளமும் கலந்து ஏறக்குறைய நூறு இராத்தல் கொண்டுவந்தான். And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.

40 அவர்கள் இயேசுவின் சரீரத்தை எடுத்து, யூதர்கள் அடக்கம்பண்ணும் முறைமையின்படியே அதைச் சுகந்தவர்க்கங்களுடனே சீலைகளில் சுற்றிக் கட்டினார்கள். Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.

41 அவர் சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்ட இடத்தில் ஒரு தோட்டமும், அந்தத் தோட்டத்தில் ஒருக்காலும் ஒருவனும் வைக்கப்பட்டிராத ஒரு புதிய கல்லறையும் இருந்தது. Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.

42 யூதருடைய ஆயத்தநாளானபடியினாலும், அந்தக் கல்லறை சமீபமாயிருந்தபடியினாலும், அவ்விடத்திலே இயேசுவை வைத்தார்கள். There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

1 Appoluthu pilaaththu Yesuvaippitiththu vaarinaal atippiththaan. Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.

2 Porchchaேvakar mullukalinaal oru mutiyaip pinni avar sirasinmael vaiththu, sivappaana oru angiyai avarukku uduththi: And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,

3 Yootharutaiya raajaavae, vaalka entu solli, avaraik kaiyinaal atiththaarkal. And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

4 Pilaaththu maraுpatiyum veliyae vanthu: naan ivanidaththil oru kuttamum kaanneen entu neengal ariyumpatikku, itho, ungalidaththil ivanai veliyae konnduvarukiraேn entan. Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.

5 Yesu, mulmutiyum sivappangiyum thariththavaraay, veliyae vanthaar. Appoluthu pilaaththu avarkalai Nnokki: itho, intha manushan entan. Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!

6 Pirathaana aasaariyarum sevakarum avaraik kanndapothu: siluvaiyil araiyum siluvaiyil araiyum entu saththamittarkal. Atharkup pilaaththu: neengalae ivanaik konndupoych siluvaiyil araiyungal, naan ivanidaththil oru kuttamum kaanneen entan. When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.

7 Yootharkal avanukkup pirathiyuththaramaaka: engalukku oru niyaayappiramaanamunndu, ivan thannai thaevanutaiya kumaaranentu sonnapatiyinaal, antha niyaayappiramaanaththinpatiyae, ivan saakavaenndum entarkal. The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

8 Pilaaththu intha vaarththaiyaik kaettapoluthu athikamaayp payanthu, When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;

9 Maraுpatiyum aramanaikkullae poy, Yesuvai Nnokki: nee engaeyirunthu vanthavan entan. Atharku Yesu maaraுththaram ontum sollavillai. And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.

10 Appoluthu pilaaththu: nee ennotae paesukirathillaiyaa unnaich siluvaiyil araiya enakku athikaaramunndentum, unnai viduthalaipannna enakku athikaaramunndentum unakkuth theriyaathaa entan. Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?

11 Yesu pirathiyuththaramaaka: paraththilirunthu umakkuk kodukkappadaathirunthaal, enmael umakku oru athikaaramumiraathu; aanapatiyinaalae ennai ummidaththil oppukkoduththavanukku athika paavamunndu entar. Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

12 Athumuthal pilaaththu avarai viduthalaipannna vakaithaetinaan. Yootharkal avanai Nnokki: ivanai viduthalaipannnninaal neer iraayanukkuch sinaekithanalla; thannai raajaavenkiravano avan raayanukku virothi entu saththamittarkal. And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar's friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.

13 Pilaaththu intha vaarththaiyaik kaettapoluthu, Yesuvai veliyae alaiththuvanthu, thalavarisaippaduththina maetaiyentum, epireyu paashaiyilae kapaththaa entum sollappatta idaththilae, niyaayaasanaththinmael utkaarnthaan. When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.

14 Antha naal paskaavukku aayaththanaalum aerakkuraiya aaraுmanni naeramumaayirunthathu; appoluthu avan yootharkalai Nnokki: itho, ungal raajaa entan. And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!

15 Avarkal: ivanai akattaுm akattaுm, siluvaiyil araiyum entu saththamittarkal. Atharkup pilaaththu: ungal raajaavai naan siluvaiyil araiyalaamaa entan. Pirathaana aasaariyar pirathiyuththaramaaka: iraayanaeyallaamal engalukku vaeraே raajaa illai entarkal. But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

16 Appoluthu avaraich siluvaiyil araiyumpatikku avarkalidaththil oppukkoduththaan. Avarkal Yesuvaip pitiththukkonnduponaarkal. Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.

17 Avar thammutaiya siluvaiyaich sumanthukonndu, epireyu paashaiyilae kolkothaa entu sollappadum kapaalasthalam enkira idaththirkup purappattupponaar. And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:

18 Angae avaraich siluvaiyil arainthaarkal; avarotaekooda vaeriranndupaerai iranndu pakkangalilum Yesuvai naduvilumaakach siluvaikalil arainthaarkal. Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

19 Pilaaththu oru maelvilaasaththai eluthi, siluvaiyinmael poduviththaan. Athil nasaraeyanaakiya Yesu yootharutaiya raajaa entu eluthiyirunthathu. And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.

20 Yesu siluvaiyil araiyappatta idam nakaraththirkuch sameepamaayirunthapatiyinaal, yootharil anaekar antha maelvilaasaththai vaasiththaarkal; athu epireyu kiraekku laththeen paashaikalil eluthiyirunthathu. This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.

21 Appoluthu yootharutaiya pirathaana aasaariyar pilaaththuvai Nnokki: yootharutaiya raajaa entu neer eluthaamal, thaan yootharutaiya raajaa entu avan sonnathaaka eluthum entarkal. Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.

22 Pilaaththu pirathiyuththaramaaka: naaneluthinathu eluthinathae entan. Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.

23 Porch sevakar Yesuvaich siluvaiyil arainthapinpu, avarutaiya vasthirangalai eduththu, ovvoru sevakanukku ovvoru pangaaka naalu pangaakkinaarkal; angiyaiyum eduththaarkal, antha angi, thaiyalillaamal maelae thodangi muluthum neyyappattathaayirunthathu. Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

24 Avarkal: ithai naam kiliyaamal, yaarukku varumo entu ithaikkuriththuch seettuppoduvom entu oruvarotoruvar paesikkonndaarkal. En vasthirangalaith thangalukkullae pangittu, en utaiyinmael seettuppottarkal enkira vaethavaakkiyam niraivaeraththakkathaakap porchchaேvakar ippatich seythaarkal. They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. 25 Yesuvin siluvaiyinarukae avarutaiya thaayum, avarutaiya thaayin sakothari kileyoppaa mariyaalum, makathalaenaa mariyaalum nintukonntirunthaarkal. Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.

26 Appoluthu Yesu thammutaiya thaayaiyum arukae ninta thamakku anpaayiruntha seeshanaiyum kanndu, thammutaiya thaayai Nnokki: sthireeyae, atho, un makan entar. When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

27 Pinpu anthach seeshanai Nnokki: atho, un thaay entar annaeraththil anthach seeshan avalaith thannidamaay aettaுkkonndaan. Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

28 Athanpinpu, ellaam mutinthathu entu Yesu arinthu, vaethavaakkiyam niraivaeraththakkathaaka: thaakamaayirukkiraேn entar. After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

29 Kaati niraintha paaththiram angae vaikkappattirunthathu; avarkal kadarkaalaanaik kaatiyilae thoyththu, eesoppuththanntil maatti, avar vaayinidaththil neettikkoduththaarkal. Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

30 Yesu kaatiyai vaanginapinpu, mutinthathu entu solli, thalaiyaichchaாyththu, aaviyai oppukkoduththaar. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

31 Antha naal periya oyvunaalukku aayaththanaalaayirunthapatiyinaal, udalkal antha oyvunaalilae siluvaikalil iraathapatikku, yootharkal pilaaththuvinidaththil poy, avarkalutaiya kaalelumpukalai murikkumpatikkum, udalkalai eduththuppodumpatikkum uththaravu kaettukkonndaarkal. The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

32 Anthappati porchchaேvakar vanthu, avarudanaekoodach siluvaiyil araiyappatta munthinavanutaiya kaalelumpukalaiyum mattavanutaiya kaalkalaiyum muriththaarkal. Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.

33 Avarkal Yesuvinidaththil vanthu, avar mariththirukkirathaik kanndu, avarutaiya kaalelumpukalai murikkavillai. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:

34 Aakilum porchchaேvakaril oruvan eettiyinaalae avarutaiya vilaavil kuththinaan; udanae iraththamum thannnneerum purappattathu. But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

35 Athaik kanndavan saatchi kodukkiraan, avanutaiya saatchi meyyaayirukkirathu; neengal visuvaasikkumpati, thaan sollukirathu meyyentu avan arinthirukkiraan. And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.

36 Avarutaiya elumpukalil ontum murikkappaduvathillai enkira vaethavaakkiyam niraivaeraுmpati ivaikal nadanthathu. For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

37 Allaamalum thaangal kuththinavarai Nnokkippaarppaarkal entu vaeroru vaethavaakkiyam sollukirathu. And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

38 Ivaikalukkuppinpu arimaththiyaa ooraanum, yootharukkup payanthathinaal Yesuvukku antharanga seeshanumaakiya yoseppu Yesuvin sareeraththai eduththukkonndupokumpati pilaaththuvinidaththil uththaravu kaettan; pilaaththu uththaravu koduththaan. Aakaiyaal avan vanthu, Yesuvin sareeraththai eduththukkonnduponaan. And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.

39 Aarampaththilae oru iraaththiriyil Yesuvinidaththil vanthiruntha nikkothaemu enpavan vellaippolamum kariyapolamum kalanthu aerakkuraiya nooraு iraaththal konnduvanthaan. And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.

40 Avarkal Yesuvin sareeraththai eduththu, yootharkal adakkampannnum muraimaiyinpatiyae athaich sukanthavarkkangaludanae seelaikalil suttik kattinaarkal. Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.

41 Avar siluvaiyil araiyappatta idaththil oru thottamum, anthath thottaththil orukkaalum oruvanum vaikkappattiraatha oru puthiya kallaraiyum irunthathu. Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.

42 Yootharutaiya aayaththanaalaanapatiyinaalum, anthak kallarai sameepamaayirunthapatiyinaalum, avvidaththilae Yesuvai vaiththaarkal. There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
