1 இந்த வர்த்தமானங்களுக்குப்பின்பு, செராயாவின் குமாரனாகிய எஸ்றா, பெர்சியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய அர்தசஷ்டா அரசாளுகிற காலத்திலே பாபிலோனிலிருந்து வந்தான்; இந்தச் செராயா அசரியாவின் குமாரன், இவன் இல்க்கியாவின் குமாரன். Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,

2 இவன் சல்லுூமின் குமாரன், இவன் சாதோக்கின் குமாரன், இவன் அகிதூபின் குமாரன், The son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,

3 இவன் அமரியாவின் குமாரன், இவன் அசரியாவின் குமாரன், இவன் மொராயோதின் குமாரன், The son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,

4 இவன் சேராகியாவின் குமாரன், இவன் ஊசியின் குமாரன், இவன் புக்கியின் குமாரன், The son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,

5 இவன் அபிசுவாவின் குமாரன், இவன் பினெகாசின் குமாரன், இவன் எலெயாசாரின் குமாரன், இவன் பிரதான ஆசாரியனான ஆரோனின் குமாரன். The son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest:

6 இந்த எஸ்றா இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அருளிய மோசேயின் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திலே தேறின வேதபாரகனாயிருந்தான்; அவனுடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய கரம் அவன்மேல் இருந்ததினால், அவன் கேட்டவைகளையெல்லாம் ராஜா அவனுக்குக் கொடுத்தான். This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.

7 அவனோடேகூட இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரிலும், ஆசாரியரிலும், லேவியரிலும், பாடகரிலும், வாசல் காவலாளரிலும், நிதனீமியரிலும், சிலர் அர்தசஷ்டா ராஜாவின் ஏழாம் வருஷத்திலே எருசலேமுக்குப் போனார்கள். And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.

8 ஐந்தாம் மாதத்தில் அவன் எருசலேமுக்கு வந்தான்; அது அந்த ராஜாவின் ஏழாம் வருஷமானது. And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.

9 முதலாம் மாதம் முதல்தேதியிலே அவன் பாபிலோனிலிருந்து பிரயாணமாகப் புறப்பட்டு, ஐந்தாம் மாதம் முதல்தேதியிலே தன் தேவனுடைய தயவுள்ள கரம் தன்மேலிருந்ததினால் எருசலேமுக்கு வந்தான். For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.

10 கர்த்தருடைய வேதத்தை ஆராயவும், அதின்படி செய்யவும், இஸ்ரவேலிலே கட்டளைகளையும் நீதிநியாயங்களையும் உபதேசிக்கவும், எஸ்றா தன் இருதயத்தைப் பக்குவப்படுத்தியிருந்தான். For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.

11 கர்த்தருடைய கற்பனைகளின் வார்த்தைகளிலும், அவர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்குக் கொடுத்த கட்டளைகளிலும் படித்துத் தேறின வேதபாரகனாகிய எஸ்றா என்னும் ஆசாரியனுக்கு, ராஜாவாகிய அர்தசஷ்டா கொடுத்த சன்னதின் நகலாவது: Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the scribe, even a scribe of the words of the commandments of the LORD, and of his statutes to Israel.

12 ராஜாதிராஜாவாகிய அர்தசஷ்டா பரலோகத்தின் தேவனுடைய நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தைப் போதிக்கிற உத்தம வேதபாரகனாகிய எஸ்றா என்னும் ஆசாரியனுக்குப் பூரண சமாதானமுண்டாக வாழ்த்தி எழுதுகிறது என்னவென்றால்: Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and at such a time.

13 நம்முடைய ராஜ்யத்தில் இருக்கிற இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனத்திலும், அதின் ஆசாரியரிலும் லேவியரிலும், உன்னோடேகூட எருசலேமுக்குப் போக மனப்பூர்வமாயிருக்கிற யாவரும் போகலாம் என்று நம்மாலே உத்தரவாகிறது. I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.

14 நீ உன் கையிலிருக்கிற உன் தேவனுடைய நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படி, யூதாவையும் எருசலேமையும் விசாரித்து நடத்தவும், Forasmuch as thou art sent of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to enquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thine hand;

15 ராஜாவும் அவருடைய மந்திரிமாரும் எருசலேமில் வாசம்பண்ணுகிற இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுக்கு மனப்பூர்வமாய்க் கொடுத்த வெள்ளியையும் பொன்னையும், And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,

16 பாபிலோன் சீமையெங்கும் உனக்குக் கிடைக்கும் எல்லா வெள்ளியையும் பொன்னையும், உன்னுடைய ஜனமும் ஆசாரியரும் எருசலேமிலுள்ள தங்கள் தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்துக்கென்று மனஉற்சாகமாய்க் கொடுக்கும் காணிக்கைகளையும் நீ கொண்டுபோகவும், நீ ராஜாவினாலும் அவருடைய ஏழு மந்திரிமாராலும் அனுப்பப்படுகிறாய். And all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem:

17 ஆகையால் அந்தத் திரவியத்தினால் நீ தாமதமின்றி காளைகளையும் ஆட்டுக்கடாக்களையும், ஆட்டுக்குட்டிகளையும், அவைகளுக்கடுத்த போஜனபலிகளையும், பானபலிகளையும் வாங்கி, அவைகளை எருசலேமிலுள்ள உங்கள்தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்துப் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் செலுத்துவாயாக. That thou mayest buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meat offerings and their drink offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.

18 மீதியான வெள்ளியையும் பொன்னையும் கொண்டு செய்யவேண்டியது இன்னதென்று உனக்கும் உன் சகோதரருக்கும் நலமாய்த் தோன்றுகிறபடி அதை உங்கள் தேவனுடைய சித்தத்தின்படியே செய்யுங்கள். And whatsoever shall seem good to thee, and to thy brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do after the will of your God.

19 உன் தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தின் ஆராதனைக்காக உனக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட பணிமுட்டுகளையும் நீ எருசலேமின் தேவனுடைய சந்நிதியில் ஒப்புவிக்கக்கடவாய். The vessels also that are given thee for the service of the house of thy God, those deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem.

20 பின்னும் உன் தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்துக்கு அவசியமாய்க் கொடுக்கவேண்டியிருப்பதை, நீ ராஜாவின் கஜானாவிலிருந்து வாங்கிக் கொடுப்பாயாக. And whatsoever more shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure house.

21 நதிக்கு அப்புறத்திலிருக்கிற எல்லா கஜான்சிகளுக்கும் அர்தசஷ்டா என்னும் ராஜாவாகிய நாம் இடுகிற கட்டளை என்னவென்றால், பரலோகத்தின் தேவனுடைய நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தைப் போதிக்கும் வேதபாரகனாகிய எஸ்றா என்னும் ஆசாரியன் நூறுதாலந்து வெள்ளி, ஆற்றுக்கலக்கோதுமை, நூற்றுக்கலத் திராட்சரசம், நூற்றுக்கல எண்ணெய்மட்டும் உங்களைக் கேட்பவை எல்லாவற்றையும், And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers which are beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,

22 வேண்டிய உப்பையும், தாமதமில்லாமல் கொடுக்கவும், Unto an hundred talents of silver, and to an hundred measures of wheat, and to an hundred baths of wine, and to an hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.

23 பரலோகத்தின் தேவனுடைய கற்பனையின்படியே, எது தேவையாயிருக்குமோ அதுவெல்லாம் பரலோகத்தின் தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்திற்கு ஜாக்கிரதையாய்ச் செலுத்தப்படவும் வேண்டும்; ராஜாவும் அவர் குமாரரும் ஆளும் ராஜ்யத்தின்மேல் கடுங்கோபம் வருவானேன். Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?

24 பின்னும் ஆசாரியரும், லேவியரும், பாடகரும், வாசல் காவலாளரும், நிதனீமியரும், தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தின் பணிவிடைக்காரருமான ஒருவன்மேலும் பகுதியாகிலும் தீர்வையாகிலும் ஆயமாகிலும் சுமத்தலாகாதென்று அவர்களைக்குறித்து உங்களுக்கு அறியப்படுத்துகிறோம். Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.

25 பின்னும் நதிக்கு அப்புறத்திலிருந்து உன் தேவனுடைய நியாயப்பிரமாணங்களை அறிந்த சகல ஜனங்களும் நியாயம் விசாரிக்கத்தக்க துரைகளையும், நியாயாதிபதிகளையும், எஸ்றாவாகிய நீ உன்னிலுள்ள உன்தேவனுடைய ஞானத்தின்படியே ஏற்படுத்துவாயாக; அந்தப் பிரமாணங்களை அறியாதவர்களுக்கு அவைகளை உபதேசிக்கவுங்கடவாய். And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not.

26 உன் தேவனுடைய நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படியேயும் ராஜாவினுடைய நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படியேயும் செய்யாதவனெவனும் உடனே மரணத்துக்காகிலும், தேசத்துக்குப் புறம்பாக்குதலுக்காகிலும், அபராதத்துக்கரகிலும், காவலுக்காகிலும் தீர்க்கப்பட்டுத் தண்டிக்கப்படக்கடவனென்று எழுதியிருந்தது. And whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.

27 எருசலேமிலுள்ள கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தை அலங்கரிக்க, இப்படிப்பட்ட யோசனையை ராஜாவின் இருதயத்தில் அருளி, ராஜாவுக்கும் அவருடைய மந்திரிமார்களுக்கும் ராஜாவின் கைக்குள்ளான பலத்த எல்லா மகாப்பிரபுக்களுக்கும் முன்பாக எனக்குத்தயவு கிடைக்கப்பண்ணின எங்கள் பிதாக்களின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரம். Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, which hath put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem:

28 அப்படியே என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய கரம் என்மேல் இருந்ததினால் நான் திடன்கொண்டு, இஸ்ரவேலில் சில தலைவரை என்னோடே கூடவரும்படி சேர்த்துக்கொண்டேன். And hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king's mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the LORD my God was upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.

1 Intha varththamaanangalukkuppinpu, seraayaavin kumaaranaakiya esraa, persiyaavin raajaavaakiya arthasashdaa arasaalukira kaalaththilae paapilonilirunthu vanthaan; inthach seraayaa asariyaavin kumaaran, ivan ilkkiyaavin kumaaran. Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,

2 Ivan salluூmin kumaaran, ivan saathokkin kumaaran, ivan akithoopin kumaaran, The son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,

3 Ivan amariyaavin kumaaran, ivan asariyaavin kumaaran, ivan moraayothin kumaaran, The son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,

4 Ivan seraakiyaavin kumaaran, ivan oosiyin kumaaran, ivan pukkiyin kumaaran, The son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,

5 Ivan apisuvaavin kumaaran, ivan pinekaasin kumaaran, ivan eleyaasaarin kumaaran, ivan pirathaana aasaariyanaana aaronin kumaaran. The son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest:

6 Intha esraa isravaelin thaevanaakiya Karththar aruliya Mosesyin niyaayappiramaanaththilae thaerina vaethapaarakanaayirunthaan; avanutaiya thaevanaakiya karththarutaiya karam avanmael irunthathinaal, avan kaettavaikalaiyellaam raajaa avanukkuk koduththaan. This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.

7 Avanotaekooda Israel puththirarilum, aasaariyarilum, laeviyarilum, paadakarilum, vaasal kaavalaalarilum, nithaneemiyarilum, silar arthasashdaa raajaavin aelaam varushaththilae erusalaemukkup ponaarkal. And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.

8 Ainthaam maathaththil avan erusalaemukku vanthaan; athu antha raajaavin aelaam varushamaanathu. And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.

9 Muthalaam maatham muthalthaethiyilae avan paapilonilirunthu pirayaanamaakap purappattu, ainthaam maatham muthalthaethiyilae than thaevanutaiya thayavulla karam thanmaelirunthathinaal erusalaemukku vanthaan. For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.

10 Karththarutaiya vaethaththai aaraayavum, athinpati seyyavum, isravaelilae kattalaikalaiyum neethiniyaayangalaiyum upathaesikkavum, esraa than iruthayaththaip pakkuvappaduththiyirunthaan. For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.

11 Karththarutaiya karpanaikalin vaarththaikalilum, avar isravaelukkuk koduththa kattalaikalilum patiththuth thaerina vaethapaarakanaakiya esraa ennum aasaariyanukku, raajaavaakiya arthasashdaa koduththa sannathin nakalaavathu: Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the scribe, even a scribe of the words of the commandments of the LORD, and of his statutes to Israel.

12 Raajaathiraajaavaakiya arthasashdaa paralokaththin thaevanutaiya niyaayappiramaanaththaip pothikkira uththama vaethapaarakanaakiya esraa ennum aasaariyanukkup poorana samaathaanamunndaaka vaalththi eluthukirathu ennavental: Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and at such a time.

13 Nammutaiya raajyaththil irukkira Israel janaththilum, athin aasaariyarilum laeviyarilum, unnotaekooda erusalaemukkup poka manappoorvamaayirukkira yaavarum pokalaam entu nammaalae uththaravaakirathu. I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.

14 Nee un kaiyilirukkira un thaevanutaiya niyaayappiramaanaththinpati, yoothaavaiyum erusalaemaiyum visaariththu nadaththavum, Forasmuch as thou art sent of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to enquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thine hand;

15 Raajaavum avarutaiya manthirimaarum erusalaemil vaasampannnukira isravaelin thaevanukku manappoorvamaayk koduththa velliyaiyum ponnaiyum, And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,

16 Paapilon seemaiyengum unakkuk kitaikkum ellaa velliyaiyum ponnaiyum, unnutaiya janamum aasaariyarum erusalaemilulla thangal thaevanutaiya aalayaththukkentu manaursaakamaayk kodukkum kaannikkaikalaiyum nee konndupokavum, nee raajaavinaalum avarutaiya aelu manthirimaaraalum anuppappadukiraay. And all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem:

17 Aakaiyaal anthath thiraviyaththinaal nee thaamathaminti kaalaikalaiyum aattukkadaakkalaiyum, aattukkuttikalaiyum, avaikalukkaduththa pojanapalikalaiyum, paanapalikalaiyum vaangi, avaikalai erusalaemilulla ungalthaevanutaiya aalayaththup palipeedaththinmael seluththuvaayaaka. That thou mayest buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meat offerings and their drink offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.

18 Meethiyaana velliyaiyum ponnaiyum konndu seyyavaenntiyathu innathentu unakkum un sakothararukkum nalamaayth thontukirapati athai ungal thaevanutaiya siththaththinpatiyae seyyungal. And whatsoever shall seem good to thee, and to thy brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do after the will of your God.

19 Un thaevanutaiya aalayaththin aaraathanaikkaaka unakkuk kodukkappatta pannimuttukalaiyum nee erusalaemin thaevanutaiya sannithiyil oppuvikkakkadavaay. The vessels also that are given thee for the service of the house of thy God, those deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem.

20 Pinnum un thaevanutaiya aalayaththukku avasiyamaayk kodukkavaenntiyiruppathai, nee raajaavin kajaanaavilirunthu vaangik koduppaayaaka. And whatsoever more shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure house.

21 Nathikku appuraththilirukkira ellaa kajaansikalukkum arthasashdaa ennum raajaavaakiya naam idukira kattalai ennavental, paralokaththin thaevanutaiya niyaayappiramaanaththaip pothikkum vaethapaarakanaakiya esraa ennum aasaariyan nooraுthaalanthu velli, aattaுkkalakkothumai, noottaுkkalath thiraatcharasam, noottaுkkala ennnneymattum ungalaik kaetpavai ellaavattaைyum, And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers which are beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,

22 Vaenntiya uppaiyum, thaamathamillaamal kodukkavum, Unto an hundred talents of silver, and to an hundred measures of wheat, and to an hundred baths of wine, and to an hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.

23 Paralokaththin thaevanutaiya karpanaiyinpatiyae, ethu thaevaiyaayirukkumo athuvellaam paralokaththin thaevanutaiya aalayaththirku jaakkirathaiyaaych seluththappadavum vaenndum; raajaavum avar kumaararum aalum raajyaththinmael kadungaோpam varuvaanaen. Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?

24 Pinnum aasaariyarum, laeviyarum, paadakarum, vaasal kaavalaalarum, nithaneemiyarum, thaevanutaiya aalayaththin pannivitaikkaararumaana oruvanmaelum pakuthiyaakilum theervaiyaakilum aayamaakilum sumaththalaakaathentu avarkalaikkuriththu ungalukku ariyappaduththukirom. 25 Pinnum nathikku appuraththilirunthu un thaevanutaiya niyaayappiramaanangalai arintha sakala janangalum niyaayam visaarikkaththakka thuraikalaiyum, niyaayaathipathikalaiyum, esraavaakiya nee unnilulla unthaevanutaiya njaanaththinpatiyae aerpaduththuvaayaaka; anthap piramaanangalai ariyaathavarkalukku avaikalai upathaesikkavungadavaay. 26 Un thaevanutaiya niyaayappiramaanaththinpatiyaeyum raajaavinutaiya niyaayappiramaanaththinpatiyaeyum seyyaathavanevanum udanae maranaththukkaakilum, thaesaththukkup purampaakkuthalukkaakilum, aparaathaththukkarakilum, kaavalukkaakilum theerkkappattuth thanntikkappadakkadavanentu eluthiyirunthathu. And whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.

27 Erusalaemilulla karththarutaiya aalayaththai alangarikka, ippatippatta yosanaiyai raajaavin iruthayaththil aruli, raajaavukkum avarutaiya manthirimaarkalukkum raajaavin kaikkullaana palaththa ellaa makaappirapukkalukkum munpaaka enakkuththayavu kitaikkappannnnina engal pithaakkalin thaevanaakiya karththarukku Sthoththiram. Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, which hath put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem:

28 Appatiyae en thaevanaakiya karththarutaiya karam enmael irunthathinaal naan thidankonndu, isravaelil sila thalaivarai ennotae koodavarumpati serththukkonntaen. And hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king's mighty princes.
