וְאֵ֛לֶּה These ʾēlle רָאשֵׁ֥י now the chief rōš אֲבֹֽתֵיהֶ֖ם of their fathers, ʾāb וְהִתְיַחְשָׂ֑ם and the genealogy yāḥaś הָֽעֹלִ֣ים of them that went up ʿālâ עִמִּ֗י with ʿim בְּמַלְכ֛וּת in the reign malkût אַרְתַּחְשַׁ֥סְתְּא of Artaxerxes ʾartaḥšaštāʾ הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ the king. melek מִבָּבֶֽל׃ me from Babylon, bābel

מִבְּנֵ֤י Of the sons bēn פִֽינְחָס֙ of Phinehas; pînĕḥās גֵּֽרְשֹׁ֔ם Gershom: gērĕšōm מִבְּנֵ֥י of the sons bēn אִֽיתָמָ֖ר of Ithamar; ʾîtāmār דָּֽנִיֵּ֑אל Daniel: dāniyyēl מִבְּנֵ֥י of the sons bēn דָוִ֖יד of David; dāwid חַטּֽוּשׁ׃ Hattush. ḥaṭṭûš

מִבְּנֵ֣י Of the sons bēn שְׁכַנְיָ֔ה of Shechaniah, šĕkanyâ מִבְּנֵ֥י of the sons bēn פַרְעֹ֖שׁ of Pharosh; parʿōš זְכַרְיָ֑ה Zechariah: zĕkaryâ וְעִמּ֛וֹ and with ʿim הִתְיַחֵ֥שׂ him were reckoned by genealogy yāḥaś לִזְכָרִ֖ים of the males zākār מֵאָ֥ה an hundred mēʾâ וַֽחֲמִשִּֽׁים׃ and fifty. ḥămiššîm

מִבְּנֵי֙ Of the sons bēn פַּחַ֣ת מוֹאָ֔ב of Pahath-moab; paḥat môʾāb אֶלְיְהֽוֹעֵינַ֖י Elihoenai ʾelyĕhôʿênay בֶּן the son bēn זְרַֽחְיָ֑ה of Zerahiah, zĕraḥyâ וְעִמּ֖וֹ and with ʿim מָאתַ֥יִם him two hundred mēʾâ הַזְּכָרִֽים׃ males. zākār

מִבְּנֵ֥י Of the sons bēn שְׁכַנְיָ֖ה of Shechaniah; šĕkanyâ בֶּן the son bēn יַֽחֲזִיאֵ֑ל of Jahaziel, yaḥăzîʾēl וְעִמּ֕וֹ and with ʿim שְׁלֹ֥שׁ him three šālôš מֵא֖וֹת hundred mēʾâ הַזְּכָרִֽים׃ males. zākār

וּמִבְּנֵ֣י Of the sons bēn עָדִ֔ין also of Adin; ʿādîn עֶ֖בֶד Ebed ʿebed בֶּן the son bēn יֽוֹנָתָ֑ן of Jonathan, yônātān וְעִמּ֖וֹ and with ʿim חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים him fifty ḥămiššîm הַזְּכָרִֽים׃ males. zākār

וּמִבְּנֵ֣י And of the sons bēn עֵילָ֔ם of Elam; ʿêlām יְשַֽׁעְיָ֖ה Jeshaiah yĕšaʿyâ בֶּן the son bēn עֲתַלְיָ֑ה of Athaliah, ʿătalyâ וְעִמּ֖וֹ and with ʿim שִׁבְעִ֥ים him seventy šibʿîm הַזְּכָרִֽים׃ males. zākār

וּמִבְּנֵ֣י And of the sons bēn שְׁפַטְיָ֔ה of Shephatiah; šĕpaṭyâ זְבַדְיָ֖ה Zebadiah zĕbadyâ בֶּן the son bēn מִֽיכָאֵ֑ל of Michael, mîkāʾēl וְעִמּ֖וֹ and with ʿim שְׁמֹנִ֥ים him fourscore šĕmōnîm הַזְּכָרִֽים׃ males. zākār

מִבְּנֵ֣י Of the sons bēn יוֹאָ֔ב of Joab; yôʾāb עֹֽבַדְיָ֖ה Obadiah ʿōbadyâ בֶּן the son bēn יְחִיאֵ֑ל of Jehiel, yĕḥîʾēl וְעִמּ֕וֹ and with ʿim מָאתַ֛יִם him two hundred mēʾâ וּשְׁמֹנָ֥ה and eighteen šĕmōne עָשָׂ֖ר ʿāśār הַזְּכָרִֽים׃ males. zākār

וּמִבְּנֵ֥י And of the sons bēn שְׁלוֹמִ֖ית of Shelomith; šĕlōmît בֶּן the son bēn יֽוֹסִפְיָ֑ה of Josiphiah, yôsipyâ וְעִמּ֕וֹ and with ʿim מֵאָ֥ה him an hundred mēʾâ וְשִׁשִּׁ֖ים and threescore šiššîm הַזְּכָרִֽים׃ males. zākār

וּמִבְּנֵ֣י And of the sons bēn בֵבַ֔י of Bebai; bēbay זְכַרְיָ֖ה Zechariah zĕkaryâ בֶּן the son bēn בֵּבָ֑י of Bebai, bēbay וְעִמּ֕וֹ and with ʿim עֶשְׂרִ֥ים him twenty ʿeśrîm וּשְׁמֹנָ֖ה and eight šĕmōne הַזְּכָרִֽים׃ males. zākār

וּמִבְּנֵ֣י And of the sons bēn עַזְגָּ֔ד of Azgad; ʿazgād יֽוֹחָנָ֖ן Johanan yôḥānān בֶּן the son bēn הַקָּטָ֑ן of Hakkatan, qāṭān וְעִמּ֕וֹ and with ʿim מֵאָ֥ה him an hundred mēʾâ וַֽעֲשָׂרָ֖ה and ten ʿeśer הַזְּכָרִֽים׃ males. zākār

וּמִבְּנֵ֣י sons bēn אֲדֹֽנִיקָם֮ of Adonikam, ʾădōnîqām אַֽחֲרֹנִים֒ And of the last ʾaḥărôn וְאֵ֣לֶּה these, ʾēlle שְׁמוֹתָ֔ם whose names šēm אֱלִיפֶ֖לֶט Eliphelet, ʾĕlîpeleṭ יְעִיאֵ֣ל Jeiel, yĕʿîʾēl וּֽשְׁמַעְיָ֑ה and Shemaiah, šĕmaʿyâ וְעִמָּהֶ֖ם and with ʿim שִׁשִּׁ֥ים them threescore šiššîm הַזְּכָרִֽים׃ males. zākār

וּמִבְּנֵ֥י Of the sons bēn בִגְוַ֖י also of Bigvai; bigway עוּתַ֣י Uthai, ʿûtay וְזַבּ֑וּד and Zabbud, zabbûd וְעִמּ֖וֹ and with ʿim שִׁבְעִ֥ים them seventy šibʿîm הַזְּכָרִֽים׃ males. zākār

וָֽאֶקְבְּצֵ֗ם And I gathered them together qābaṣ אֶל to ʾēl הַנָּהָר֙ the river nāhār הַבָּ֣א that runneth bôʾ אֶֽל to ʾēl אַהֲוָ֔א Ahava; ʾahăwāʾ וַנַּֽחֲנֶ֥ה abode we in tents ḥānâ שָׁ֖ם and there šām יָמִ֣ים days: yôm שְׁלֹשָׁ֑ה three šālôš וָֽאָבִ֤ינָה and I viewed bîn בָעָם֙ the people, ʿam וּבַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים and the priests, kōhēn וּמִבְּנֵ֥י of the sons bēn לֵוִ֖י of Levi. lēwî לֹֽא none lōʾ מָצָ֥אתִי and found māṣāʾ שָֽׁם׃ there šām

וָֽאֶשְׁלְחָ֡ה Then sent šālaḥ לֶֽאֱלִיעֶ֡זֶר I for Eliezer, ʾĕlîʿezer לַֽאֲרִיאֵ֡ל for Ariel, ʾărîʾēl לִֽ֠שְׁמַעְיָה for Shemaiah, šĕmaʿyâ וּלְאֶלְנָתָ֨ן and for Elnathan, ʾelnātān וּלְיָרִ֜יב and for Jarib, yārîb וּלְאֶלְנָתָ֧ן and for Elnathan, ʾelnātān וּלְנָתָ֛ן and for Nathan, nātān וְלִזְכַרְיָ֥ה and for Zechariah, zĕkaryâ וְלִמְשֻׁלָּ֖ם and for Meshullam, mĕšullām רָאשִׁ֑ים chief men; rōš וּלְיֽוֹיָרִ֥יב also for Joiarib, yôyārîb וּלְאֶלְנָתָ֖ן and for Elnathan, ʾelnātān מְבִינִֽים׃ men of understanding. bîn

וָאֲוּצַאֶ֤ה And I sent them with commandment ṣāwâ אוֹתָם֙ ʾēt עַל unto ʿal אִדּ֣וֹ Iddo ʾiddô הָרֹ֔אשׁ the chief rōš בְּכָֽסִפְיָ֖א Casiphia, kāsipyāʾ הַמָּק֑וֹם at the place māqôm וָֽאָשִׂימָה֩ and I told śûm בְּפִיהֶ֨ם pe דְּבָרִ֜ים them what dābār לְ֠דַבֵּר they should say dābar אֶל unto ʾēl אִדּ֨וֹ Iddo, ʾiddô אָחִ֤יו to his brethren ʾāḥ הַנְּתִונִים֙ the Nethinims, nātîn בְּכָֽסִפְיָ֣א Casiphia, kāsipyāʾ הַמָּק֔וֹם at the place māqôm לְהָֽבִיא that they should bring bôʾ לָ֥נוּ מְשָֽׁרְתִ֖ים unto us ministers šārat לְבֵ֥ית for the house bayit אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ of our God. ʾĕlōhîm

וַיָּבִ֨יאּוּ us they brought bôʾ לָ֜נוּ כְּיַד hand yād אֱלֹהֵ֨ינוּ of our God ʾĕlōhîm הַטּוֹבָ֤ה And by the good ṭôb עָלֵ֙ינוּ֙ upon ʿal אִ֣ישׁ us a man ʾîš שֶׂ֔כֶל of understanding, śekel מִבְּנֵ֣י of the sons bēn מַחְלִ֔י of Mahli, maḥlî בֶּן the son bēn לֵוִ֖י of Levi, lēwî בֶּן the son bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel; yiśrāʾēl וְשֵׁרֵ֥בְיָ֛ה and Sherebiah, šērēbĕyâ וּבָנָ֥יו with his sons bēn וְאֶחָ֖יו and his brethren, ʾāḥ שְׁמֹנָ֥ה eighteen; šĕmōne עָשָֽׂר׃ ʿāśār

וְאֶת ʾēt חֲשַׁבְיָ֔ה And Hashabiah, ḥăšabyâ וְאִתּ֥וֹ and with ʾēt יְשַֽׁעְיָ֖ה him Jeshaiah yĕšaʿyâ מִבְּנֵ֣י of the sons bēn מְרָרִ֑י of Merari, mĕrārî אֶחָ֥יו his brethren ʾāḥ וּבְנֵיהֶ֖ם and their sons, bēn עֶשְׂרִֽים׃ twenty; ʿeśrîm

וּמִן Also of min הַנְּתִינִ֗ים the Nethinims, nātîn שֶׁנָּתַ֨ן had appointed nātan דָּוִ֤יד whom David dāwid וְהַשָּׂרִים֙ and the princes śar לַֽעֲבֹדַ֣ת for the service ʿăbōdâ הַלְוִיִּ֔ם of the Levites, lēwiyyî נְתִינִ֖ים Nethinims: nātîn מָאתַ֣יִם two hundred mēʾâ וְעֶשְׂרִ֑ים and twenty ʿeśrîm כֻּלָּ֖ם all kōl נִקְּב֥וּ of them were expressed nāqab בְשֵׁמֽוֹת׃ by name. šēm

וָֽאֶקְרָ֨א Then I proclaimed qārāʾ שָׁ֥ם there, šām צוֹם֙ a fast ṣôm עַל at ʿal הַנָּהָ֣ר the river nāhār אַֽהֲוָ֔א of Ahava, ʾahăwāʾ לְהִתְעַנּ֖וֹת that we might afflict ourselves ʿānâ לִפְנֵ֣י before pānîm אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ our God, ʾĕlōhîm לְבַקֵּ֤שׁ to seek bāqaš מִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙ of min דֶּ֣רֶךְ way derek יְשָׁרָ֔ה him a right yāšār לָ֥נוּ וּלְטַפֵּ֖נוּ for us, and for our little ones, ṭap וּלְכָל and for all kōl רְכוּשֵֽׁנוּ׃ our substance. rĕkûš

כִּ֣י For kî בֹ֗שְׁתִּי I was ashamed bûš לִשְׁא֤וֹל to require šāʾal מִן of min הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ the king melek חַ֣יִל a band of soldiers ḥayil וּפָֽרָשִׁ֔ים and horsemen pāroš לְעָזְרֵ֥נוּ to help ʿāzar מֵֽאוֹיֵ֖ב us against the enemy ʾōyēb בַּדָּ֑רֶךְ in the way: derek כִּֽי because kî אָמַ֨רְנוּ we had spoken ʾāmar לַמֶּ֜לֶךְ unto the king, melek לֵאמֹ֗ר saying, ʾāmar יַד The hand yād אֱלֹהֵ֤ינוּ of our God ʾĕlōhîm עַל upon ʿal כָּל all kōl מְבַקְשָׁיו֙ that seek bāqaš לְטוֹבָ֔ה them for good ṭôb וְעֻזּ֣וֹ him; but his power ʿōz וְאַפּ֔וֹ and his wrath ʾap עַ֖ל against ʿal כָּל all kōl עֹֽזְבָֽיו׃ them that forsake him. ʿāzab

וַנָּצ֛וּמָה So we fasted ṣûm וַנְּבַקְשָׁ֥ה and besought bāqaš מֵֽאֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ our God ʾĕlōhîm עַל for ʿal זֹ֑את this: zōt וַיֵּֽעָתֵ֖ר and he was intreated of us. ʿātar לָֽנוּ׃

וָֽאַבְדִּ֛ילָה Then I separated bādal מִשָּׂרֵ֥י of the chief śar הַכֹּֽהֲנִ֖ים of the priests, kōhēn שְׁנֵ֣ים twelve šĕnayim עָשָׂ֑ר ʿāśār לְשֵׁרֵֽבְיָ֣ה Sherebiah, šērēbĕyâ חֲשַׁבְיָ֔ה Hashabiah, ḥăšabyâ וְעִמָּהֶ֥ם with them, ʿim מֵֽאֲחֵיהֶ֖ם of their brethren ʾāḥ עֲשָׂרָֽה׃ and ten ʿeśer

וָאֶשְׁקֳולָ֣ה And weighed šāqal לָהֶ֔ם hēm אֶת unto them ʾēt הַכֶּ֥סֶף the silver, kesep וְאֶת ʾēt הַזָּהָ֖ב and the gold, zāhāb וְאֶת ʾēt הַכֵּלִ֑ים and the vessels, kĕlî תְּרוּמַ֣ת the offering tĕrûmâ בֵּית of the house bayit אֱלֹהֵ֗ינוּ of our God, ʾĕlōhîm הַהֵרִ֙ימוּ֙ had offered: rûm הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ which the king, melek וְיֹֽעֲצָ֣יו and his counsellers, yāʿaṣ וְשָׂרָ֔יו and his lords, śar וְכָל and all kōl יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל Israel yiśrāʾēl הַנִּמְצָאִֽים׃ present, māṣāʾ

וָאֶשְׁקֲלָ֨ה I even weighed šāqal עַל unto ʿal יָדָ֜ם their hand yād כֶּ֗סֶף of silver, kesep כִּכָּרִים֙ talents kikkār שֵֽׁשׁ six šēš מֵא֣וֹת hundred mēʾâ וַֽחֲמִשִּׁ֔ים and fifty ḥămiššîm וּכְלֵי vessels kĕlî כֶ֥סֶף and silver kesep מֵאָ֖ה an hundred mēʾâ לְכִכָּרִ֑ים talents, kikkār זָהָ֖ב of gold zāhāb מֵאָ֥ה an hundred mēʾâ כִכָּֽר׃ talents; kikkār

וּכְפֹרֵ֤י basons kĕpôr זָהָב֙ of gold, zāhāb עֶשְׂרִ֔ים Also twenty ʿeśrîm לַֽאֲדַרְכֹנִ֖ים drams; ʾădarkōn אָ֑לֶף of a thousand ʾelep וּכְלֵ֨י vessels kĕlî נְחֹ֜שֶׁת copper, nĕḥōšet מֻצְהָ֤ב ṣāhab טוֹבָה֙ of fine ṭôb שְׁנַ֔יִם and two šĕnayim חֲמוּדֹ֖ת precious ḥemdâ כַּזָּהָֽב׃ as gold. zāhāb

וָאֹֽמְרָ֣ה And I said ʾāmar אֲלֵהֶ֗ם unto ʾēl אַתֶּ֥ם them, Ye ʾattâ קֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ holy qōdeš לַֽיהוָ֔ה unto the Lord; yĕhōwâ וְהַכֵּלִ֖ים the vessels kĕlî קֹ֑דֶשׁ holy qōdeš וְהַכֶּ֤סֶף also; and the silver kesep וְהַזָּהָב֙ and the gold zāhāb נְדָבָ֔ה a freewill offering nĕdābâ לַֽיהוָ֖ה unto the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֥י God ʾĕlōhîm אֲבֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃ of your fathers. ʾāb

שִׁקְד֣וּ Watch šāqad וְשִׁמְר֗וּ ye, and keep šāmar עַֽד until ʿad תִּשְׁקְל֡וּ ye weigh šāqal לִפְנֵי֩ before pānîm שָׂרֵ֨י the chief śar הַכֹּֽהֲנִ֧ים of the priests kōhēn וְהַלְוִיִּ֛ם and the Levites, lēwiyyî וְשָׂרֵֽי and chief śar הָאָב֥וֹת of the fathers ʾāb לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl בִּירֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם at Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim הַלִּשְׁכ֖וֹת in the chambers liškâ בֵּ֥ית of the house bayit יְהוָֽה׃ of the Lord. yĕhōwâ

וְקִבְּלוּ֙ So took qābal הַכֹּֽהֲנִ֣ים the priests kōhēn וְהַלְוִיִּ֔ם and the Levites lēwiyyî מִשְׁקַ֛ל the weight mišqāl הַכֶּ֥סֶף of the silver, kesep וְהַזָּהָ֖ב and the gold, zāhāb וְהַכֵּלִ֑ים and the vessels, kĕlî לְהָבִ֥יא to bring bôʾ לִירֽוּשָׁלִַ֖ם to Jerusalem yĕrûšālaim לְבֵ֥ית unto the house bayit אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ of our God. ʾĕlōhîm

וַֽנִּסְעָ֞ה Then we departed nāsaʿ מִנְּהַ֣ר from the river nāhār אַֽהֲוָ֗א of Ahava ʾahăwāʾ בִּשְׁנֵ֤ים on the twelfth šĕnayim עָשָׂר֙ ʿāśār לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ month, ḥōdeš הָֽרִאשׁ֔וֹן of the first riʾšôn לָלֶ֖כֶת to go hālak יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם unto Jerusalem: yĕrûšālaim וְיַד and the hand yād אֱלֹהֵ֙ינוּ֙ of our God ʾĕlōhîm הָֽיְתָ֣ה was hāyâ עָלֵ֔ינוּ upon ʿal וַיַּ֨צִּילֵ֔נוּ us, and he delivered nāṣal מִכַּ֥ף us from the hand kap אוֹיֵ֛ב of the enemy, ʾōyēb וְאוֹרֵ֖ב and of such as lay in wait ʾārab עַל by ʿal הַדָּֽרֶךְ׃ the way. derek

וַנָּב֖וֹא And we came bôʾ יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם to Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim וַנֵּ֥שֶׁב and abode yāšab שָׁ֖ם there šām יָמִ֥ים days. yôm שְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ three šālôš

וּבַיּ֣וֹם day yôm הָֽרְבִיעִ֡י Now on the fourth rĕbîʿî נִשְׁקַ֣ל weighed šāqal הַכֶּסֶף֩ was the silver kesep וְהַזָּהָ֨ב and the gold zāhāb וְהַכֵּלִ֜ים and the vessels kĕlî בְּבֵ֣ית in the house bayit אֱלֹהֵ֗ינוּ of our God ʾĕlōhîm עַ֠ל by ʿal יַד the hand yād מְרֵמ֤וֹת of Meremoth mĕrēmôt בֶּן the son bēn אֽוּרִיָּה֙ of Uriah ʾûriyyâ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן the priest; kōhēn וְעִמּ֖וֹ and with ʿim אֶלְעָזָ֣ר him Eleazar ʾelʿāzār בֶּן the son bēn פִּֽינְחָ֑ס of Phinehas; pînĕḥās וְעִמָּהֶ֞ם and with ʿim יֽוֹזָבָ֧ד them Jozabad yôzābād בֶּן the son bēn יֵשׁ֛וּעַ of Jeshua, yēšûaʿ וְנֽוֹעַדְיָ֥ה and Noadiah nôʿadyâ בֶן the son bēn בִּנּ֖וּי of Binnui, binnûy הַלְוִיִּֽם׃ Levites; lēwiyyî

בְּמִסְפָּ֥ר By number mispār בְּמִשְׁקָ֖ל by weight mišqāl לַכֹּ֑ל of every one: kōl וַיִּכָּתֵ֥ב was written kātab כָּֽל and all kōl הַמִּשְׁקָ֖ל the weight mišqāl בָּעֵ֥ת time. ʿēt הַהִֽיא׃ at that hûʾ

הַ֠בָּאִים which were come out bôʾ מֵֽהַשְּׁבִ֨י of the captivity, šĕbî בְנֵֽי the children bēn הַגּוֹלָ֜ה of those that had been carried away, gôlâ הִקְרִ֥יבוּ offered qārab עֹל֣וֹת׀ burnt offerings ʿōlâ לֵֽאלֹהֵ֣י unto the God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl פָּרִ֨ים bullocks par שְׁנֵים twelve šĕnayim עָשָׂ֤ר ʿāśār עַל for ʿal כָּל all kōl יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ Israel, yiśrāʾēl אֵילִ֣ים׀ rams, ʾayil תִּשְׁעִ֣ים ninety tišʿîm וְשִׁשָּׁ֗ה and six šēš כְּבָשִׂים֙ lambs, kebeś שִׁבְעִ֣ים seventy šibʿîm וְשִׁבְעָ֔ה and seven šebaʿ צְפִירֵ֥י he goats ṣāpîr חַטָּ֖את a sin offering: ḥaṭṭāʾâ שְׁנֵ֣ים twelve šĕnayim עָשָׂ֑ר ʿāśār הַכֹּ֖ל all kōl עוֹלָ֥ה a burnt offering ʿōlâ לַֽיהוָֽה׃ unto the Lord. yĕhōwâ

וַֽיִּתְּנ֣וּ׀ And they delivered nātan אֶת ʾēt דָּתֵ֣י commissions dāt הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ the king's melek לַֽאֲחַשְׁדַּרְפְּנֵי֙ lieutenants, ʾăḥašdarpan הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ unto the king's melek וּפַֽחֲו֖וֹת and to the governors peḥâ עֵ֣בֶר on this side ʿēber הַנָּהָ֑ר the river: nāhār וְנִשְּׂא֥וּ and they furthered nāśāʾ אֶת ʾēt הָעָ֖ם the people, ʿam וְאֶת ʾēt בֵּֽית and the house bayit הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃ of God. ʾĕlōhîm
