Genesis 3:17
પછી યહોવા દેવે મનુષ્યને કહ્યું:“મેં તને આજ્ઞા કરી હતી કે, તું આ વિશિષ્ટ વૃક્ષનાં ફળ ખાઈશ નહિ, પરંતુ તેં તારી પત્નીની વાત માંની અને તે વૃક્ષનાં ફળ ખાધાં. એટલે તારે લીધે આ ભૂમિ શ્રાપિત થઈ છે. જીવનપર્યંત પરિશ્રમ કરીશ ત્યારે તું એમાંથી ખાવા પામીશ.

| and hast eaten | וַתֹּ֙אכַל֙ | wattōʾkal | va-TOH-HAHL |

| tree, the | הָעֵ֔ץ | hāʿēṣ | ha-AYTS |
| of which | אֲשֶׁ֤ר | ʾăšer | uh-SHER |
| I commanded thee, | צִוִּיתִ֙יךָ֙ | ṣiwwîtîkā | tsee-wee-TEE-HA |
| saying, | לֵאמֹ֔ר | lēʾmōr | lay-MORE |
| Thou shalt not | לֹ֥א | lōʾ | loh |
| eat | תֹאכַ֖ל | tōʾkal | toh-HAHL |
| of | מִמֶּ֑נּוּ | mimmennû | mee-MEH-noo |
| it: cursed | אֲרוּרָ֤ה | ʾărûrâ | uh-roo-RA |
| ground the is | הָֽאֲדָמָה֙ | hāʾădāmāh | ha-uh-da-MA |
| for thy sake; | בַּֽעֲבוּרֶ֔ךָ | baʿăbûrekā | ba-uh-voo-REH-ha |
