Psalm 8
1 હે યહોવા, અમારા દેવ, સમગ્ર પૃથ્વી પર તમારું નામ ઉત્તમ છે. અને તમારો મહિમા આકાશમાં ભરપૂર છે.
2 નવજાતો અને બાળકોના મુખમાંથી તમારી સ્તુતિની ગાથાઓ પ્રગટી છે. તમારા શત્રુઓને ચૂપ કરી દેવા માટે તમે તેમને આ શકિતશાળી ગીતો આપ્યા છે.
3 હે યહોવા, જ્યારે રાત્રે હું આકાશદર્શન કરું છું. અને ચંદ્ર તથા તારાઓથી ભર્યું નભ નિહાળું છું, ત્યારે તમારા હાથનાં અદ્ભૂત કૃત્યો વિષે હું વિચારું છું.
4 પછી મને આશ્ચર્ય થાય છે, કે માનવજાત શું છે, જેનું તમે સ્મરણ કરો છો? માણસો તે કોણ છે કે તેઓની તમે મુલાકાત લો છો?
5 કારણ, તમે એને દેવ કરતાં થોડોજ ઊતરતો સૃજ્યો છે, અને તેના માથા પર મહિમા ને માનનો મુગટ મૂકયો છે.
6 તમે જ તેને, તમે ઉત્પન્ન કરેલી સૃષ્ટિનો અધિકાર આપ્યો છે અને તે સઘળી સૃષ્ટિનો તમે તેને કારભારી બનાવ્યો છે.
7 એટલે સર્વ ઘેટાં તથા બળદો, અને જંગલી પ્રાણીઓનો પણ.
8 વળી આકાશનાં પક્ષીઓ, સમુદ્રમાં રહેતા માછલાં તથા જીવોનો પણ.
9 હે યહોવા, અમારા પ્રભુ, સમગ્ર વિશ્વમાં તમારું નામ સૌથી મહાન છે.

2 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
3 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
4 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
5 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
6 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
7 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
8 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
9 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
10 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
