எகிப்திலே தங்கவேண்டுமென்று அவ்விடத்துக்குத் தங்கள் முகங்களைத் திருப்பின எல்லா மனுஷருக்கும் என்ன சம்பவிக்குமென்றால், பட்டயத்தாலும், பஞ்சத்தாலும், கொள்ளைநோயாலும் சாவார்கள்; நான் அவர்கள்மேல் வரப்பண்ணும் தீங்கினாலே அவர்களில் மீதியாகிறவர்களும் தப்புகிறவர்களுமில்லை என்று இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

அப்பொழுது எல்லாப் பிரபுக்களும் கூஷியின் மகனாகிய செலேமியாவின் மகனான நெத்தானியாவினுடைய மகனாயிருக்கிற யெகுதியைப் பாருக்கிடத்தில் அனுப்பி, மக்கள் கேட்க நீ வாசித்துக்கொண்டிந்த சுருளை உன் கையில் எடுத்துக்கொண்டுவா என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னார்கள்; ஆகையால், நேரியாவின் மகனாகிய பாருக்கு சுருளைத் தன் கையில் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, அவர்களிடத்திற்கு வந்தான்.

பிறகு அனைத்து அதிகாரிகளும் யெகுதி என்னும் பெயருள்ள ஒருவனை பாருக்கிடம் அனுப்பினர். யெகுதி நெத்தானியாவின் மகன். நெத்தானியா செலேமியாவின் மகன். செலேமியா கூஷியின் மகன். யெகுதி பாருக்கிடம், “நீ வாசித்த புத்தகச் சுருளை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு என்னுடன் வா” என்றான். நேரியாவின் மகனான பாருக் புத்தகச் சுருளை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு யெகுதியோடு அதிகாரிகளிடம் சென்றான்.
