  3. עִרְכ֤וּ Order ʿārak מָגֵן֙ ye the buckler māgēn וְצִנָּ֔ה and shield, ṣinnâ וּגְשׁ֖וּ and draw near nāgaš לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ to battle. milḥāmâ
  4. אִסְר֣וּ Harness ʾāsar הַסּוּסִ֗ים the horses; sûs וַֽעֲלוּ֙ and get up, ʿālâ הַפָּ֣רָשִׁ֔ים ye horsemen, pāroš וְהִֽתְיַצְּב֖וּ and stand forth yāṣab בְּכ֥וֹבָעִ֑ים with helmets; kôbaʿ מִרְקוּ֙ furbish māraq הָֽרְמָחִ֔ים the spears, rōmaḥ לִבְשׁ֖וּ put on lābaš הַסִּרְיֹנֹֽת׃ the brigandines. siryōn
  5. מַדּ֣וּעַ Wherefore maddûaʿ רָאִ֗יתִי have I seen rāʾâ הֵ֣מָּה them hēm חַתִּים֮ dismayed ḥat נְסֹגִ֣ים turned away sûg אָחוֹר֒ back? ʾāḥôr וְגִבּוֹרֵיהֶ֣ם and their mighty ones gibbôr יֻכַּ֔תּוּ are beaten down, kātat וּמָנ֥וֹס apace, mānôs נָ֖סוּ and are fled nûs וְלֹ֣א lōʾ הִפְנ֑וּ and look not back: pānâ מָג֥וֹר fear māgôr מִסָּבִ֖יב round about, sābîb נְאֻם saith nĕʾum יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord. yĕhōwâ
  6. אַל Let not ʾal יָנ֣וּס flee away, nûs הַקַּ֔ל the swift qal וְאַל nor ʾal יִמָּלֵ֖ט escape; mālaṭ הַגִּבּ֑וֹר the mighty man gibbôr צָפ֙וֹנָה֙ toward the north ṣāpôn עַל ʿal יַ֣ד by yād נְהַר the river nāhār פְּרָ֔ת Euphrates. pĕrāt כָּשְׁל֖וּ they shall stumble, kāšal וְנָפָֽלוּ׃ and fall nāpal
  7. מִי Who זֶ֖ה this ze כַּיְאֹ֣ר as a flood, yĕʾōr יַֽעֲלֶ֑ה cometh up ʿālâ כַּנְּהָר֕וֹת as the rivers? nāhār יִֽתְגָּעֲשׁ֖וּ are moved gāʿaš מֵימָֽיו׃ whose waters mayim
  8. מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ Egypt miṣrayim כַּיְאֹ֣ר like a flood, yĕʾōr יַֽעֲלֶ֔ה riseth up ʿālâ וְכַנְּהָר֖וֹת like the rivers; nāhār יִתְגֹּ֣עֲשׁוּ are moved gāʿaš מָ֑יִם and waters mayim וַיֹּ֗אמֶר and he saith, ʾāmar אַֽעֲלֶה֙ I will go up, ʿālâ אֲכַסֶּה will cover kāsâ אֶ֔רֶץ the earth; ʾereṣ אֹבִ֥ידָה I will destroy ʾābad עִ֖יר the city ʿîr וְיֹ֥שְׁבֵי and the inhabitants thereof. yāšab בָֽהּ׃
  9. עֲל֤וּ Come up, ʿālâ הַסּוּסִים֙ ye horses; sûs וְהִתְהֹלְל֣וּ and rage, hālal הָרֶ֔כֶב ye chariots; rekeb וְיֵצְא֖וּ come forth; yāṣāʾ הַגִּבּוֹרִ֑ים and let the mighty men gibbôr כּ֤וּשׁ the Ethiopians kûš וּפוּט֙ and the Libyans, pûṭ תֹּפְשֵׂ֣י that handle tāpaś מָגֵ֔ן the shield; māgēn וְלוּדִ֕ים and the Lydians, lûdî תֹּפְשֵׂ֖י that handle tāpaś דֹּ֥רְכֵי bend dārak קָֽשֶׁת׃ the bow. qešet
  10. וְֽהַיּ֨וֹם the day yôm הַה֜וּא For this hûʾ לַאדֹנָ֧י of the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִ֣ה God yĕhōwi צְבָא֗וֹת of hosts, ṣābāʾ י֤וֹם a day yôm נְקָמָה֙ of vengeance, nĕqāmâ לְהִנָּקֵ֣ם that he may avenge nāqam מִצָּרָ֔יו him of his adversaries: ṣar וְאָכְלָ֥ה shall devour, ʾākal חֶ֙רֶב֙ and the sword ḥereb וְשָׂ֣בְעָ֔ה and it shall be satiate śābaʿ וְרָוְתָ֖ה and made drunk rāwâ מִדָּמָ֑ם with their blood: dām כִּ֣י for זֶ֠בַח hath a sacrifice zebaḥ לַאדֹנָ֨י the Lord ʾădōnāy יְהוִ֧ה God yĕhōwi צְבָא֛וֹת of hosts ṣābāʾ בְּאֶ֥רֶץ country ʾereṣ צָפ֖וֹן in the north ṣāpôn אֶל by ʾēl נְהַר the river nāhār פְּרָֽת׃ Euphrates. pĕrāt
  11. עֲלִ֤י Go up ʿālâ גִלְעָד֙ into Gilead, gilʿād וּקְחִ֣י and take lāqaḥ צֳרִ֔י balm, ṣĕrî בְּתוּלַ֖ת O virgin, bĕtûlâ בַּת the daughter bat מִצְרָ֑יִם of Egypt: miṣrayim לַשָּׁוְא֙ in vain šow הִרְבֵּ֣יתי shalt thou use many rābâ רְפֻא֔וֹת medicines; rĕpuʾâ תְּעָלָ֖ה be cured. tĕʿālâ אֵ֥ין thou shalt not ʾayin לָֽךְ׃
  12. שָׁמְע֤וּ have heard šāmaʿ גוֹיִם֙ The nations gôy קְלוֹנֵ֔ךְ of thy shame, qālôn וְצִוְחָתֵ֖ךְ and thy cry ṣĕwāḥâ מָלְאָ֣ה hath filled mālēʾ הָאָ֑רֶץ the land: ʾereṣ כִּֽי for גִבּ֤וֹר the mighty man gibbôr בְּגִבּוֹר֙ against the mighty, gibbôr כָּשָׁ֔לוּ hath stumbled kāšal יַחְדָּ֖יו together. yaḥad נָפְל֥וּ they are fallen nāpal שְׁנֵיהֶֽם׃ both šĕnayim
  13. הַדָּבָר֙ The word dābār אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer דִּבֶּ֣ר spake dābar יְהוָ֔ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶֽל to ʾēl יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ Jeremiah yirmĕyâ הַנָּבִ֑יא the prophet, nābîʾ לָב֗וֹא should come bôʾ נְבֽוּכַדְרֶאצַּר֙ how Nebuchadrezzar nĕbûkadneʾṣṣar מֶ֣לֶךְ king melek בָּבֶ֔ל of Babylon bābel לְהַכּ֖וֹת smite nākâ אֶת ʾēt אֶ֥רֶץ the land ʾereṣ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ of Egypt. miṣrayim
  14. הַגִּ֤ידוּ Declare nāgad בְמִצְרַ֙יִם֙ ye in Egypt, miṣrayim וְהַשְׁמִ֣יעוּ and publish šāmaʿ בְמִגְדּ֔וֹל in Migdol, migdôl וְהַשְׁמִ֥יעוּ and publish šāmaʿ בְנֹ֖ף in Noph nōp וּבְתַחְפַּנְחֵ֑ס and in Tahpanhes: taḥpanḥēs אִמְר֗וּ say ʾāmar הִתְיַצֵּב֙ ye, Stand fast, yāṣab וְהָכֵ֣ן and prepare kûn לָ֔ךְ כִּֽי thee; for אָכְלָ֥ה shall devour ʾākal חֶ֖רֶב the sword ḥereb סְבִיבֶֽיךָ׃ round about thee. sābîb
  15. מַדּ֖וּעַ Why maddûaʿ נִסְחַ֣ף swept away? sāḥap אַבִּירֶ֑יךָ are thy valiant ʾabbîr לֹ֣א not, lōʾ עָמַ֔ד they stood ʿāmad כִּ֥י because יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ הֲדָפֽוֹ׃ did drive them. hādap
  16. הִרְבָּ֖ה He made many rābâ כּוֹשֵׁ֑ל to fall, kāšal גַּם yea, gam נָפַ֞ל fell nāpal אִ֣ישׁ one ʾîš אֶל upon ʾēl רֵעֵ֗הוּ another: rēaʿ וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ and they said, ʾāmar ק֣וּמָה׀ Arise, qûm וְנָשֻׁ֣בָה and let us go again šûb אֶל to ʾēl עַמֵּ֗נוּ our own people, ʿam וְאֶל and to ʾēl אֶ֙רֶץ֙ the land ʾereṣ מֽוֹלַדְתֵּ֔נוּ of our nativity, môledet מִפְּנֵ֖י from pānîm חֶ֥רֶב sword. ḥereb הַיּוֹנָֽה׃ the oppressing yānâ
  17. קָרְא֖וּ They did cry qārāʾ שָׁ֑ם there, šām פַּרְעֹ֤ה Pharaoh parʿō מֶֽלֶךְ king melek מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ of Egypt miṣrayim שָׁא֔וֹן a noise; šāʾôn הֶעֱבִ֖יר he hath passed ʿābar הַמּוֹעֵֽד׃ the time appointed. môʿēd
  18. חַי live, ḥay אָ֙נִי֙ I ʾănî נְאֻם saith nĕʾum הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ the King, melek יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ צְבָא֖וֹת of hosts, ṣābāʾ שְׁמ֑וֹ whose name šēm כִּ֚י Surely כְּתָב֣וֹר as Tabor tābôr בֶּֽהָרִ֔ים among the mountains, har וּכְכַרְמֶ֖ל and as Carmel karmel בַּיָּ֥ם by the sea, yām יָבֽוֹא׃ shall he come. bôʾ
  19. כְּלֵ֤י thyself to go into captivity: kĕlî גוֹלָה֙ gôlâ עֲשִׂ֣י furnish ʿāśâ לָ֔ךְ יוֹשֶׁ֖בֶת dwelling yāšab בַּת O thou daughter bat מִצְרָ֑יִם in Egypt, miṣrayim כִּֽי for נֹף֙ Noph nōp לְשַׁמָּ֣ה waste šammâ תִֽהְיֶ֔ה shall be hāyâ וְנִצְּתָ֖ה and desolate yāṣat מֵאֵ֥ין without ʾayin יוֹשֵֽׁב׃ an inhabitant. yāšab
  20. עֶגְלָ֥ה heifer, ʿeglâ יְפֵֽה פִיָּ֖ה a very fair yĕpē piyyâ מִצְרָ֑יִם Egypt miṣrayim קֶ֥רֶץ destruction qereṣ מִצָּפ֖וֹן of the north. ṣāpôn בָּ֥א cometh; bôʾ בָֽא׃ it cometh out bôʾ
  21. גַּם Also gam שְׂכִרֶ֤יהָ her hired men śākîr בְקִרְבָּהּ֙ in the midst qereb כְּעֶגְלֵ֣י bullocks; ʿēgel מַרְבֵּ֔ק of her like fatted marbēq כִּֽי for גַם also gam הֵ֧מָּה they hēm הִפְנ֛וּ are turned back, pānâ נָ֥סוּ are fled away nûs יַחְדָּ֖יו together: yaḥad לֹ֣א they did not lōʾ עָמָ֑דוּ stand, ʿāmad כִּ֣י because י֥וֹם the day yôm אֵידָ֛ם of their calamity ʾêd בָּ֥א was come bôʾ עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם upon ʿal עֵ֥ת them, the time ʿēt פְּקֻדָּתָֽם׃ of their visitation. pĕquddâ
  22. קוֹלָ֖הּ The voice qôl כַּנָּחָ֣שׁ like a serpent; nāḥoš יֵלֵ֑ךְ thereof shall go hālak כִּֽי for בְחַ֣יִל with an army, ḥayil יֵלֵ֔כוּ they shall march hālak וּבְקַרְדֻּמּוֹת֙ against her with axes, qardōm בָּ֣אוּ and come bôʾ לָ֔הּ כְּחֹטְבֵ֖י as hewers ḥāṭab עֵצִֽים׃ of wood. ʿēṣ
  23. כָּרְת֤וּ They shall cut down kārat יַעְרָהּ֙ her forest, yaʿar נְאֻם saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֔ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ כִּ֖י though לֹ֣א it cannot lōʾ יֵֽחָקֵ֑ר be searched; ḥāqar כִּ֤י because רַבּוּ֙ they are more rābab מֵֽאַרְבֶּ֔ה than the grasshoppers, ʾarbe וְאֵ֥ין and innumerable. ʾayin לָהֶ֖ם hēm מִסְפָּֽר׃ mispār
  24. הֹבִ֖ישָׁה shall be confounded; yābēš בַּת The daughter bat מִצְרָ֑יִם of Egypt miṣrayim נִתְּנָ֖ה she shall be delivered nātan בְּיַ֥ד into the hand yād עַם of the people ʿam צָפֽוֹן׃ of the north. ṣāpôn
  25. אָמַר֩ saith; ʾāmar יְהוָ֨ה The Lord yĕhōwâ צְבָא֜וֹת of hosts, ṣābāʾ אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl הִנְנִ֤י Behold, hēn פוֹקֵד֙ I will punish pāqad אֶל ʾēl אָמ֣וֹן the multitude ʾāmôn מִנֹּ֔א of No, nōʾ וְעַל with ʿal פַּרְעֹה֙ and Pharaoh, parʿō וְעַל ʿal מִצְרַ֔יִם and Egypt, miṣrayim וְעַל ʿal אֱלֹהֶ֖יהָ their gods, ʾĕlōhîm וְעַל ʿal מְלָכֶ֑יהָ and their kings; melek וְעַ֨ל ʿal פַּרְעֹ֔ה even Pharaoh, parʿō וְעַ֥ל ʿal הַבֹּטְחִ֖ים and them that trust in him: bāṭaḥ בּֽוֹ׃
  26. וּנְתַתִּ֗ים And I will deliver nātan בְּיַד֙ them into the hand yād מְבַקְשֵׁ֣י of those that seek bāqaš נַפְשָׁ֔ם their lives, nepeš וּבְיַ֛ד and into the hand yād נְבֽוּכַדְרֶאצַּ֥ר of Nebuchadrezzar nĕbûkadneʾṣṣar מֶֽלֶךְ king melek בָּבֶ֖ל of Babylon, bābel וּבְיַד and into the hand yād עֲבָדָ֑יו of his servants: ʿebed וְאַחֲרֵי and afterward ʾaḥar כֵ֛ן kēn תִּשְׁכֹּ֥ן it shall be inhabited, šākan כִּֽימֵי as in the days yôm קֶ֖דֶם of old, qedem נְאֻם saith nĕʾum יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord. yĕhōwâ
  27. וְ֠אַתָּה thou, ʾattâ אַל not ʾal תִּירָ֞א But fear yārēʾ עַבְדִּ֤י O my servant ʿebed יַֽעֲקֹב֙ Jacob, yaʿăqōb וְאַל and be not ʾal תֵּחַ֣ת dismayed, ḥātat יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל O Israel: yiśrāʾēl כִּ֠י for, הִנְנִ֤י behold, hēn מוֹשִֽׁעֲךָ֙ I will save yāšaʿ מֵֽרָח֔וֹק thee from afar off, rāḥôq וְאֶֽת ʾēt זַרְעֲךָ֖ and thy seed zeraʿ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ from the land ʾereṣ שִׁבְיָ֑ם of their captivity; šĕbî וְשָׁ֧ב shall return, šûb יַעֲק֛וֹב and Jacob yaʿăqōb וְשָׁקַ֥ט and be in rest šāqaṭ וְשַׁאֲנַ֖ן and at ease, šāʾan וְאֵ֥ין and none ʾayin מַחֲרִֽיד׃ shall make afraid. ḥārad
  28. אַ֠תָּה thou ʾattâ אַל not, ʾal תִּירָ֞א Fear yārēʾ עַבְדִּ֤י my servant, ʿebed יַֽעֲקֹב֙ O Jacob yaʿăqōb נְאֻם saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֔ה the Lord: yĕhōwâ כִּ֥י for אִתְּךָ֖ with ʾēt אָ֑נִי I ʾănî כִּי֩ thee; for אֶעֱשֶׂ֨ה I will make ʿāśâ כָלָ֜ה a full end kālâ בְּכָֽל of all kōl הַגּוֹיִ֣ם׀ the nations gôy אֲשֶׁ֧ר whither ʾăšer הִדַּחְתִּ֣יךָ I have driven nādaḥ שָׁ֗מָּה šām וְאֹֽתְךָ֙ ʾēt לֹא thee: but I will not lōʾ אֶעֱשֶׂ֣ה make ʿāśâ כָלָ֔ה a full end kālâ וְיִסַּרְתִּ֙יךָ֙ of thee, but correct yāsar לַמִּשְׁפָּ֔ט thee in measure; mišpāṭ וְנַקֵּ֖ה leave thee wholly nāqâ לֹ֥א yet will I not lōʾ אֲנַקֶּֽךָּ׃ unpunished. nāqâ
