யோவேல் 1
14 பரிசுத்த உபவாசநாளை நியமியுங்கள்; விசேஷித்த ஆசரிப்பைக் கூறுங்கள்; மூப்பரையும் தேசத்தின் எல்லாக்குடிகளையும் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் ஆலயத்திலே கூடிவரச்செய்து கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுங்கள்.
15 அந்த நாளினிமித்தம் ஐயோ! கர்த்தருடைய நாள் சமீபமாயிருக்கிறது; அது சங்காரம்போல சர்வவல்லவரிடத்திலிருந்து வருகிறது.
16 நம்முடைய கண்களைவிட்டு ஆகாரமும், நம்முடைய தேவனின் ஆலயத்தைவிட்டுச் சந்தோஷமும், மகிழ்ச்சியும் நீக்கப்படவில்லையோ?
17 விதையானது மண்கட்டிகளின்கீழ் மக்கிப்போயிற்று; பயிர் தீய்ந்துபோகிறதினால் பண்டசாலைகள் பாழாகிக் களஞ்சியங்கள் இடிந்துபோயின.
18 மிருகங்கள் எவ்வளவாய்த் தவிக்கிறது; மாட்டுமந்தைகள் தங்களுக்கு மேய்ச்சல் இல்லாததினால் கலங்குகிறது; ஆட்டு மந்தைகளும் சேதமாய்ப்போயிற்று.
19 கர்த்தாவே, உம்மை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுகிறேன்; அக்கினி வனாந்தரத்தின் மேய்ச்சல்களைப் பட்சித்து, ஜுவாலை வெளியின் விருட்சங்களையெல்லாம் எரித்துப்போடுகிறது.
14 Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord,
15 Alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.
16 Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?
17 The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.
18 How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.
19 O Lord, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.

7 உங்களில் ஒருவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரன் உழுது அல்லது மந்தை மேய்த்து வயலிலிருந்து வரும்போது, எஜமான் அவனை நோக்கி: நீ முன்பு போய்ச் சாப்பிட்டுவா என்று அவனுக்குச் சொல்வானோ?
But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?
8 நீ எனக்குச் சாப்பாடு ஆயத்தம்பண்ணி, அரைகட்டிக்கொண்டு, நான் போஜனபானம்பண்ணுமளவும் எனக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய், அதற்குப்பின் நீ புசித்துக்குடிக்கலாம் என்று அவனுக்குச் சொல்லுவானல்லவா.
And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
9 தான் கட்டளையிட்டவைகளை அந்த வேலைக்காரன் செய்ததற்காக அவனுக்கு உபசாரஞ்செய்வானோ? அப்படிச் செய்யமாட்டானே.
Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.
10 அப்படியே நீங்களும் உங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிடப்பட்ட யாவற்றையும் செய்தபின்பு: நாங்கள் அப்பிரயோஜனமான ஊழியக்காரர், செய்யவேண்டிய கடமையைமாத்திரம் செய்தோம் என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றார்.
So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
