ಆದರೆ ಅಹಾಬನು ಆ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಏನಾಯಿತಂದರೆ, ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದು ತನ್ನ ಶರೀರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಗೋಣಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಉಪವಾಸಮಾಡಿ ಗೋಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಲಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಮೆಲ್ಲಗೆ ನಡೆದನು.

words,	הַדְּבָרִ֤ים	dābār	da-VAHR
those	הָאֵ֙לֶּה֙	ʾēlle	ay-LEH
that he rent	וַיִּקְרַ֣ע	qāraʿ	ka-RA
his clothes,	בְּגָדָ֔יו	beged	beh-ɡED
and put	וַיָּֽשֶׂם	śûm	soom
sackcloth	שַׂ֥ק	śaq	sahk
upon	עַל	ʿal	al
his flesh,	בְּשָׂר֖וֹ	bāśār	ba-SAHR
and fasted,	וַיָּצ֑וֹם	ṣûm	tsoom
and lay	וַיִּשְׁכַּ֣ב	šākab	sha-HAHV
in sackcloth,	בַּשָּׂ֔ק	śaq	sahk
and went	וַיְהַלֵּ֖ךְ	hālak	ha-LAHK
softly.	אַֽט׃	ʾaṭ	at
