എന്നാൽ പട്ടണത്തിൽനിന്നു അടയാളം ഒരു വലിയ പുകത്തൂണായി പൊങ്ങിത്തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ ബെന്യാമീന്യർ പിന്നോട്ടു നോക്കി; പട്ടണം മുഴുവനും ആകാശത്തോളം കത്തിപ്പൊങ്ങുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

But when the flame	וְהַמַּשְׂאֵ֗ת	wĕhammaśʾēt	veh-ha-mahs-ATE
began	הֵחֵ֛לָּה	hēḥēllâ	hay-HAY-la
to arise up	לַֽעֲל֥וֹת	laʿălôt	la-uh-LOTE
of out	מִן	min	meen
the city	הָעִ֖יר	hāʿîr	ha-EER
with a pillar	עַמּ֣וּד	ʿammûd	AH-mood
smoke, of	עָשָׁ֑ן	ʿāšān	ah-SHAHN
the Benjamites	וַיִּ֤פֶן	wayyipen	va-YEE-fen
looked	בִּנְיָמִן֙	binyāmin	been-ya-MEEN
behind	אַֽחֲרָ֔יו	ʾaḥărāyw	ah-huh-RAV
them, and, behold,	וְהִנֵּ֛ה	wĕhinnē	veh-hee-NAY
flame the	עָלָ֥ה	ʿālâ	ah-LA
of the city	כְלִיל	kĕlîl	heh-LEEL
ascended up	הָעִ֖יר	hāʿîr	ha-EER
to heaven.	הַשָּׁמָֽיְמָה׃	haššāmāyĕmâ	ha-sha-MA-yeh-ma
