இயேசு வந்து, திரளான ஜனங்களைக் கண்டு, அவர்கள் மேல் மனதுருகி, அவர்களில் வியாதியஸ்தர்களாயிருந்தவர்களைச் சொஸ்தமாக்கினார்.

அவர், திரளான ஜனங்களைக் கண்டபொழுது, அவர்கள் மேய்ப்பனில்லாத ஆடுகளைப்போலத் தொய்ந்துபோனவர்களும் சிதறடிக்கப்பட்டவர்களுமாய் இருந்தபடியால், அவர்கள்மேல் மனதுருகி,

அன்றியும், அவர் ஜனத்தின் பாவங்களை நிவிர்த்தி செய்வதற்கேதுவாக, தேவகாரியங்களைக்குறித்து இரக்கமும் உண்மையுமுள்ள பிரதான ஆசாரியாராயிருக்கும்படிக்கு எவ்விதத்திலும் தம்முடைய சகோதரருக்கு ஒப்பாகவேண்டியதாயிருந்தது.

தானும் பலவீனமுள்ளவனானபடியினாலே அறியாதவர்களுக்கும் நெறிதப்பிப்போனவர்களுக்கும் இரங்கத்தக்கவனாயிருக்கிறான்.
